I purchased this item a year ago now and I'm back looking at the product to get it in another color! I absolutely love how slim the material is yet how surprisingly warm it is. My favorite part is the hood! I love pairing this with my outdoor long sleeve layers that all lack that element. I currently have it in black, and have a more earthy style vibe. I would love to see some not as vibrant colors, more neutrals and earthy to pair with more shirts.

Perfect for everyday, sports, dress up! I bought 2 colors, and love them!

Love the feel. Very comfortable. Very light weight, but keeps you very warm.

Loved this so much I bought a second!! Pockets everywhere are amazing. Long enough to be bother flattering and comfortable.

Would have bought another this season, but the colors are not attractive unless you are a fall or spring color individual. Need some brighter colors please!

I have several of the smartloft vests and jackets in classic colours such as black, blue and ivory and the older ones with fun patterns. I am not always happy with the color choices, though. I use them for hiking, running errands or if I have to travel to a cooler climate as a base layer. Highly recommendable.

Comfortable, medium to lightweight vest. Love the Pecan Brown color along with Pecan Brown Dot classic thermal base layer crew! I normally wear a medium top, but went with the small vest with my smaller chest.

This vest is everything I was hoping it would be! The weight makes it versatile, the fit is flattering and I can use it for so many things. Love the hood!

Love this vest have it in several colors! Especially, love this almond color I just purchased! Well-made, looks new, wear after wear! Although I took very good care of Smartwool clothing, Coldwater wash delicate,hang to dry! Love everything Smartwool!

Great for those chilly mornings when you are out walking the dog or working with horses . Very comfortable. Light.

Love this vest. Only downside is that wool material rips very easily. However, vest is used in all weather condition. I use it as a midlayer for skiing or just outer layer with long sleeve tshirt in california. I have 3 vest but unfortunately my grey color has too many holes in wool area so can;t use it.

This is a replacement for a smartloft vest that's given years of faithful service and has just worn out beyond patching anymore. The old vest had thicker insulation which would have been preferred. However this new vest has a hood and the lighter loft would make it preferable for high output activities.

Got as a gift for my sister and she would like it to have a bit more stretch to the material for better movement

I bought the Smartloft vest for the color (deep brown) and the hood. My goal is to wear it under my Schott and Mackage leather jackets, which are unsuitable for bulky layers, especially in the arms, yell still need extra warmth. For that, this vest is pretty darn SWEET. I like it lots for that function. I do think it's a bit tight in the chest area, but I think Ican pull it off (I hope), especially when partially unzipped. HOWEVER, if you are looking for roomy, puffy, and SUPER warm, I would recommend passing on this one. It does not fit that description at all. I suppose a person COULD buy a larger size, but I definitely think it would compromise the vest's cute design. I do have the 2024 (or is it 23?) Smartloft vest and I too find that this 2025 vest is MUCH shorter and wider. This 2025 vest seems geared more for fashion than function. It looks pretty cute, but it is not as comfy. ALSO, I'll need to take extra care of this vest this time around. The older model I have looks. pretty tatty after a rather short period of time and a wash or two. I know better this time to keep it on a hanger. Note to reader: keep this vest away from cat if your cat LOVES wool or you may just find little holes in the side vents. My cat loves woolly oils and if it's like the other one, I have to keep it AWAY from Minou. Good luck on your vest shopping!

Cozy vest. Sizing is a bit off. Had to return a "small" and get an "extra small."

Beautiful pool blue color and great fit. The only negative is that the collar isn't particularly comfortable nor soft.

I like the fit and the color. Hadn't known it had a hood so not exactly what I wanted but I am using it a lot anyway!

Gave it a gift. Looks great, but a little snug fit wise.

This vest is perfect for morning walks and hiking. I love how the panels allow for a little stretch in the hip area. The color is nice, but I don't love it. Might have been more flattering in a darker color. The vest is stlll a little long for my 5'3" frame.

Ordered the XS, and the vest was too big around the hips- as the sizing showed it might be! Too bad for mesent back. Wanted it fitted : /

I ordered the wrong size but I think even in a smaller size it would not be for me. Great style though and lightweight.

Every day to stay warm inside and layering

I thought I would love this vest. But its got a couple flaws. The zipper curves over on one side by design, however its ends up looking funny and slightly off without serving a function. The plastic zipper when zipped 3/4 the way up (which is how you wear it most of the time) does not have a piece of fabric covering the top of the zipper abd thus ends up hitting and bothering your neck or your chin, depending on how it hits you all day long. As much as I wanted this vest and wanted to love it like the rest of my Smartwool gear (big fan!!) unfortunately it's goning to have to go back.

Agree with other reviewers. This updated version is really uncomfortable and doesn't look good - fit and fabric are a much worse combo. I have one from 2+ years ago that I adore, it is soft like a Patagonia vest and attractively form fitting. This latest one has a very wide cut and because it has a forced hourglass shape, the stiffer fabric bizarrely pooches out under the armpits. Looks terrible. Also when zipped up all the way, the stiff thicker fabric digs into the soft area of the throat, especially with the hood dragging it back. Keep having to pull it forward to not feel strangled. I loved the older version so much I bought 2 more on sale but they are going back. The only improvement was the quirky embroidered logo is now black instead of white on the darker colored vests, so less visible and you can wear the vest to nicer places too (only if zipped up all the way otherwise you can see the kinda ugly rainbow trim inside the collar)
