I just bought this thunder cross to replace my worn-out sense ride-2, which I used pretty often. the first feel and touch on foot was so great and the hit on the ground was so solid and comfortable, just like met with an old friend, it feels so familiar but good changes there.

First, this shoe is a 4mm drop which is perfect for me. Secondly, most 4mm drop shoes dont have enough cushion, this one does. I dont know what it is about the design, but this shoe makes me feel like running. Some cushioned shoes are clunky and feel slow. This shoe is a runner and I feel fast, well balanced and agile on the trail. Thirdly, I live in western Pennsylvania and our trails are dirt with rocks and roots scattered throughout the trail and plenty of mud when rainy. Since recently getting this shoe, Ive run 40 miles on these trails, 12 miles was my longest run, and the comfort over the rocks and roots was impressive. Ive ordered a second pair and a third pair in Goretex. Highly recommend.

Not a good fit for my foot, as it's too low at the instep. Very lightweight and good grip.

After shopping around, trying and buying and even returning a few shoes I think I found my perfect shoe. Bottom line: super grippy in dry AND wet terrain, very comfortable, nice cushion, great fit (I do have flatter arches than many and wish it was a tad wider in the arches, but not a big deal). Breathable yet offering some water resistance where it needs most for the occasional splashes or snow. Great lacing system. Excited to have found this shoe. Extremely light too, lighter than most shoes touted by the ultralight backpacking community (my intended use with this purchase). May have to get another pair before they change anything. Salomon, seconding another user review, please dont chance much here! If anything the smallest improvement in breathability. And selfishly the smallest widening of the arch area (one can always improve arch fit with insoles), but thats just nitpicking.

Shoes have a fit and feel I have grown accustomed to with Salomon however the tread is insanely slippery. After doing several short hikes the tread did not grip any hard rock. It did amazing in dirt, so if you are primarily hiking/running with no large rock slabs/steps you will be fine if not very pleased, but they don't seem great for the White Mountains. Mid-sole is very squishy similar to UYN but without the rounded ankle-breaking edges. Lacing system is top-notch. High heel cuff is more comfortable than I expected.

Bought these about a month ago and they're the best shoes I've had in years. Love everything about them. Salomon never disappoints but they really nailed it with the Thundercross!

Great shoes, sturdy and comfortable with excellent support. However, after I got them home, I discovered that one shoe lace was shorter than the other, making it challenging to put the right shoe on. I can get it on, but I have to push and pull pretty hard, which eventually will damage the back of the shoe. I contacted Salomon Support and their answer was that they were out of laces but I could buy them on Amazon. The solution you're offering is pretty disappointing. What youre essentially saying is I need to spend more money fix an issue with the new shoes I bought? The new laces on Amazon are $17 and the offset youre offering is a 10% spend on future products. I would have to spend an additional $170 with Salomon to cover the $17 cost of new laces from Amazon. Its hard to imagine that a company that literally manufactures shoes, does not have a spare set of laces to send to me? Can someone please find a set of laces somewhere in your company and send them to me? Or are you making shoes and shipping them without laces due to this shortage of laces?

Wore these shoes to hike Rim to Rim in the Grand Canyon. These shoes probably werent broken in before the hike. They did not have any flaws throughout the hike. No blisters, no sore feet and overall very comfortable. Im looking forward to running and hiking more trails in the Thundercross in the future. Very satisfied.

I've had this shoe now 5 months, I really like the lower drop of this shoe, with gore-tex it's great for winter and spring running. I tend to have a quite narrow foot and was surprised by how wide this shoe feels compared to other Salomon shoes, so would suggest trying for fit if you tend to have a narrower foot.

This is my 2nd pair of Thundercross and I couldnt be happier. I figured Id better buy another pair before something changes. These are wide enough in the toe box and have great grip and cushioning for trail running and hiking. They are also my go to shoe for just wearing around since they are so comfortable. Keep up the good work!

This shoe is my go-to for technical + long runs. Over 300 miles in them & they're still kickin'. I put this shoe through the ringer during the HURT 100 and am pleased to say that I escaped blister free, with *surprisingly* happy feet. Traction on technical descents & in muddy areas was superb. The heel lockdown was great, upper felt secure across top of the foot but roomy in the toebox - also found the upper to be very breathable & did dry quickly after stream crossings. Midsole felt supportive & responsive throughout the entire race.

I have bought 3 pairs of this shoe model in the last two weeks. I love the cushioning in the soles. They are really comfortable for both walking and running. I love this type of shoe lacing system. This lacing system is one of the reasons why I am such a Salomon fan!

OK, bought the Thundercross with the hope of getting a bit more cushion and it delivers! I love the Salomon Speedcross line but wanted to try these shoes. The Thundercross is wonderful shoe that I use to train with, and excellent grip as well! The only gripe I have is the softer toe bumper. Not as strong as the Speedcross line. I stubbed my toe last week on a run and I was not happy. That needs to changed if this is supposed to be trail shoe. Other than that, love the shoe!

First time trying Salomon trail runners. I have an old pair of snow boots that have lasted me around 12 years now, so I knew I would have a quality product in Salomon. Now the actual review. I put the Thundercross on and tried them out on 3 trail runs for about a total of 12 miles. My initial impressions, they are super comfortable and durable. Thier comfort is only surpassed by their grip!!! At first, my initial complaint were the pull wire style laces. They didn't seem to hold too well. However, the issue was maybe due to a break in / stretch out period. I recently used the shoes on a couple of different hikes, including the Ironflats in Boulder Colorado as well Booth Falls in east Vail Colorado, the shoes, laces, and traction held up wonderfully. Now my only complaint, if any, is the lack of a rock plate, but I'm ok trading that for the comfort that the Thundercross provide.

Good shoe for mountain running, then putting some distance on trail. Only problem so far is the outsole lugs, they're already getting worn down after 80 miles.

Great, great shoe! Not tested on technical terrain.yet but a fa ntastic shoe combining the best from the infamous Speedcross and newer Pulsartrail. Amazing grip on almost any surface, great cushioning for longer days and propulsion. The only slight improvement I would ask for is to somehow work on how to stop the material gathering when tightened, with the awesome quick lacing system. Great and thank Salomon, this is a fantastic shoe.

Just finished running/hiking the Grand Canyon in the ThunderCross shoes. As expected the lacing system, cushioning, and outsole tread design were exceptional. Unfortunately, it seems the shoe last has changed for the worse. A much wider toe box and larger volume fit resulted in blisters forming in the first 10k. And bloody toe nails by 20k. I should have worn my old Salomon shoes instead. I've been exclusive to Salomon for 15+ years with never a single fit issue nor a need to buy another show since they were the best at everything. I'm off now to find another technical trail shoe brand that provides the fit and feel that made Salomon famous and can put up with the ups and downs of a long trail adventure. Why mess with success Salomon?!?!?

I wanted to love these. Overall they have great support and traction. But the upper simply isn’t breathable enough for them to be practical go-to trail shoes in any remotely warm climate. Thinking of going back to the Sense Ride even though it has decreased in quality in recent years. At least it doesn’t make my feet feel like they’re in an oven.
