Has almost everything I was looking for: waterproof, mud proof, quick lace, good traction, cushioned for hard surfaces, comfortable, rugged with protected sides and a 4mm drop. I was looking for zero drop but 4mm isnt terrible. Maybe someday Salomon will make a shoe like this with zero drop. But still the best all around trail running shoe Ive had. Bought another pair.

So far really liking this new shoe. Its a nice blend of speed cross and ultra glide. I am a trail only user and would like to see more of a speed cross tread with the fit and cushion of ultra glide and this gets it.

Glad I purchased this shoe when still had my 40% off pro deal that now is 20% off. Bought two pairs and one pair delaminated after one 12 mile hike along the side. Was able to get refund. Did not happen to the second pair after 10 mile hike. They are very comfortable with great traction. Not feeling the trail which is good with rocks being absorbed under foot. A lot of shoe so have to be aware of tripping hazards. Id buy another pair but lost my 40% off deal and not worth the 20% off.

This is my first time trying this style of Salomon, and I'm so happy I looked into the differences in "drop" heights. I'm currently working on my feet 6 days a week, and these shoes are absolutely saving my knees. 10 out of 10. Salomon's for life. <3

I ran 100 miles in a Backyard race in late April. Due to excessive snowmelt and rainfall, the course was moved to a mixture of grass/dirt, several inches of standing water/mud, and about two miles on pavement. I wore a pair of Speedcross 5 GTX and told everyone that I loved the traction and Gore-Tex, but I wished for more cushioning like the Ultra Glides I've worn in other races. This is that shoe, and it's fantastic. My (female) significant other got a pair of of the non-GTX Thundercross and went down half a size from what she wears in the Speedcross, but I ordered my regular size. The fit is more relaxed (she describes them as "not as slipper-like"), and it's noticeable visually that they're wider than the Speedcross. I wore them out of the box on a 5 hour trail run in 76f/24c weather on a rocky and rooty trail and while my feet were warm, it wasn't overwhelming. No hot spots, no blisters, and that's about all you can hope for from a new pair of shoes. The styling reminds me (in a positive way) of a LL Bean duck boot, I think because of shape of the toe cap. The orange stripe on the "Flint Stone" color is a nice pop of color. These were a warranty replacement for another brand new Salomon model that shall remain nameless and I was a little concerned about trying a new model again, but these are just a fantastic shoe. I wanted a Speedcross with more cushioning. This is that shoe and it's fantastic.

The tongue on these shoes is too short. This appears to be a basic design flaw. It does not matter if the shoes are laced tight or loose. After only a few minutes of wear, the tongue on both shoes will slide forward so that it is forward of the top of the shoe, and so that the top row of laces are now against your foot instead of against the tongue. On the bright side, it appears that Salomon is not going to give me any problems returning the shoes.

Bought the shoes a month ago. I tried to stretch out the insole and they are basically unusable. Tried to give them away and wouldn't fit my son's feet either. I owned many pair of Solomon shoes and have never had a problem. These are garbage.

Was hoping these would be as comfortable as my pulsar trail with the grip of my speedcross 5. I was soorely dissapointed. Uphill grip in mud is ok. Downhill grip in mud is dangerously poor particularly when running canicross
