The XA PRO 3D V8 worked great for me as a backpacking shoe. I had a couple of pair for a few years in size 10.5. When I got the V9, I found the 10.5 was too small. I have the size 11 a try and it was acceptable for day hikes. But, when I took it backpacking, it was too short. My right toe was sore after a few days of backpacking in the Sierra Nevada and it looks like I'll lose my right big toenail.

These are the best shoes out there for all around use, I own eight pairs, they are great for hiking, walking etc, when they're new. They fit perfect with great support. Only complaint is that the outer sole is not very durable and wears very quickly, especially the heel. That part needs to be made of a tougher material.

Purchased two of these (from REI) for trail running on challenging hills and while they has excellent traction and heel support on mud and loose gravel, my toes got sore after running 4 miles. I loosened them as wide as possible but didnt help. Especially on downhills. So now I only use them for hiking. And I still get sore feet. Hope you fix it.

I have owned multiple Salomon XA PRO 3D shoes, and I love how comfortable they are right out of the box. I wish they kept the black theme to include the bottom of the sole.

I have purchased 6 pairs of these shoes over the years. They are the only shoes my husband will wear. I wear Salomon hiking boots and trail running shoes. We love this company!

Bought these for a 2-month trip to Spain. We spent 6 weeks walking the Camino de Santiago. The shoes met my expectations for comfort and traction on various terrain. The average rating is due to the lack of durability. The interior lining of both heels ripped out and required duct tape to get thorgh the last 2 weeks. Be wary and prepared for the deterioration.

Got these and they fit great. Have not used on Trail.as yet but I will soon. They are comfortable and feel very stable. I can envision that when I get on those slippery hills, these will do the job well. The inner sole seems a bit loose, hopefully that's not a problem while running.

This is the 4 pair of Salomon XA PRO 3D V9 shoes I have purchased. The last 3 pairs were comfortable and held up for month. This 4 pair have been uncomfortable since the moment I put them on. I've been wearing them for 3 weeks now thinking I just need to break them in (which I never really needed to do before). But I can't get through half a day wearing these without experiencing uncomfortable pain in my feet.

I ordered the same shoe to replace my worn out one. I ordered a Wide shoe just like my previous Salomon shoe. This shoe did not seem wide as both shoes caused painful pressure on both big toes, to the point I can't wear it. I reverted back to the old worn shoes and there was no problem. The new shoes should NOT have been classified as Wide. Not happy at all.

Purchased 2 new pairs of this model a little over a month ago, fit seemed a bit snug but still appeared to have room in the toe box. I have worn this brand (and the same shoe and others) in a size 10 since day 1. They have always fit well and been extremely comfortable (especially with my weaker left leg & numb foot they always provided the comfort and support I needed until now.) I talked to staff and they suggested different insoles or just putting the older insoles in the new shoes. Unfortunately this didn't working but spent some days trying to convince myself they would stretch out. Main issue is I keep running my toes into the ends despite tightening the straps. Pretty much at the end of my rope, and after hearing from a few others that things have changed a bit with structure and materials will be trying to find a new brand again which is really to bad as that is always a chore.

Bought these shoes and I am so happy with them. I then bought three additional pairs.

These shoes used to be better made. They are not of the same quality as the last two pairs I purchased.

These are my second pair of XA Pros. Last pair materials wore out on me. Salomon warranty helped me get a new pair(decided on the ultras - my third pair) but turns out the new stability system hurts my foot so I asked for an exchange and decided on another pair of XA Pros. Colors were a bit different than the pictures but the fit, support, and customer service made my experience great. Been a lifetime Salomon fan since rollerblading in the 90s and now skiing in the sierra the last 10+ years. Warranty and customer service at Salomon is unbeatable. Thanks for being a great company.

Backpacked over 30 miles in Yosemite, from Cloud Rest to Half Dome. An excellent shoe. I ordered one size larger for my foot to swell during hiking. No foot pain or blisters. Shoes felt great!

Ive had multiple pairs of this shoe and for some reason or another the pair I just ordered was uncharacteristically wide and its not a wide shoe option. Have to return because my feet shift side to side way too much. Length of the size is fine.

Love these great shoes. Solid fit. Easy lace up. Go grip.

After having the multiple pair of Salomon speedcross, I had high hopes for the XDA Pro. Seemed a perfect mix for trails/hiking/walking/etc. Sizing is consistent. Comfort is not. I cannon wear them more than one day without needing recovery time for me feet, and have to wear a different shoe. The styling is great but the comfort is not good at all, unfortunately.

Great shoes. When I first put them on I wasnt sure I would like them. After I put about 30 miles on them Im glad I kept them. They are great trail running shoes.

I like the shoe but cannot wear it indoors because it smells like cheap leather. This is the second of my last three purchases with a quality problem. I would hope that Salomon gets its quality act together. I would hope that Salomon contacts me concerning these issues.

I purchased these less than a month ago. Like all Salomon shoes they are stiff to start out, but break in nicely. The color is navy and moss green. They looked black and moss green, but the navy looks great in person.

I always get nervous that a new pair of shoes will not be as comfortable as the pair I am replacing. This pair did not disappoint and fit perfectly. This is my fourth pair and not the last.
