not bad, not great, just ok

Socks are great... but I paid for overnight delivery and they arrived 6 days later (after I left for my trip).

Sadly, these socks do not stay up. I am a 6'3 tall ski instructor and I have skied for 60 years and I LOVE my SMART WOOL clothing!!! My favorite pair of ski socks are from Smart Wool and they never fall down. They are so tight with a strong elastic around my calf that I have to muscle the socks to get them off. So when I learned about the extra tall socks, I bought 5 pair but after my first ski day, I discovered that these extra tall socks had fallen down below my calf. I tried another pair of my new socks, only to find that they also fell below my calf. I can only guess that my original favorite ski Smart Wool Ski socks must have had a higher percentage of the elastic material. This socks are a complete failure.

These socks came with a glue dot sticking the pair together at the heel...apparently a mistake as my other pairs in the same order did not have similar. Smartwool will happily refund these upon return, which they pay for...great...BUT, they will only provide a refund and not replacement. I must buy again, and these are not on the same sale price and I'm then subject to the shipping charge because the order would be below the free shipping threshold. I asked to just send replacement and was told that's not possible.

The socks are mismatched right out of the package - when I tried them on, one sock fit perfectly and the other sock barely made it up my calf (no my calves are not two different sizes, I switched them to test that theory, however)

Not what we expected. Hard to figure out when products change names and what we got in the past is apparently not available!
