I've worn these since Torrin 4. Each year they get narrower and narrower. Even the wide is not comfortable anymore. I'd rather pay more and have them like they used to be.

I love this shoe and how much cushion and soft foot feel it provides, but they are not durable at all. For the price tag, I wish I could get more wear out of them. I'm not even a runner and I'm tearing these shoes up way too fast. I recommend them, but cautiously.

I've been wearing altra torrins for years. The last best model is the torin 5 luxe, though the 6s were great with a taller sock. I've had 6 pairs of torrins and put in probably around 1800 miles in them.
In the torrin 7 is awful. The upper has somehow shrunken in vertical height in the midfoot. So despite loosening the laces it is constantly too tight and ultimately causes me to get blisters on even short 3-5 mile runs.
I switched to the wide fit of the torrin 7 but unfortunately it has too mich side to side movement and so again, blisters on even short 3-5 mi runs. I bought the last pair of size 8.5 torrin 5 luxe I could find online. I can't find this style and size anymore. Not sure what my plan will be when I put my 350 miles in and use up the shoe.
I don't want a nike foot shape. I buy altra specifically for the more natural foot shape. It's frustrating to see changes to the shape and upper to bring them in line with Nike and other poor fitting shoes. I'm not here for the aesthetic, I'm here for the run.

Torin 6s were my first Altras & I loved them... I bought 2 pair. Ordered the 7s when the 6s were gone & I am very disappointed. They're not as wide toed & hurt! I tried to break them in to no avail

I purchased these based on a recommendation from my podiatrist to correct my big & pinky toe nails, which have basically been compressed/squished by narrow sneakers (I had no business wearing) for about 1.5yrs. I received the Torin 7s last night. I put them on this morning, walked around the house, and
Let the CONS begin -
BLISTER - Immediately I felt that there would be a blister in my future near the bottom part of my left outer ankle. I use true no-show bamboo socks, so this may be something that can be corrected with ankle socks. Note - I did purchase some socks on this site, but they will be returned...waaayyy too compressive, and I know a larger size will not help at all.
BACKWARDS TILT - The sneakers also seem to rock me backwards; very awkward. Not sure if the shoe is engineered to do this, but it's happening. It feels like the mid to front part of the shoe is somehow lifted upward just enough to cause the tilting sensation toward the back of my heels (something to get used to I suppose).
I went ahead and took an anti-blister stick and swiped both my ankles heavily (inner and outer), and went for my daily morning 2 mile jog.
EXTRA EFFORT - I quickly felt like I had to put out much more effort than usual. I'm thinking this might have something to do with the aforementioned tilting sensation, and I'm hoping it will diminish after I get accustomed to the shoes.
HOT! HOT! HOT! - About a mile in, my feet were sweltering hot, and it was very uncomfortable. That being said, I live in southeast, TX (Galveston county), and it's friggin' hot here (and it's not even summer yet), but neither my Adidas or Brooks have ever given me such a hot sensation.
I was able to finish my run, and quickly took off my shoes and literally put them in front of a tower fan to cool them off. And that's when I saw it, the almost-blister on my outer left ankle. If it weren't for the balm, I would've had a full-blown blister (see pic).
PROS - The shoes felt great around my toes, which is the sole reason why I purchased them. They also felt very well cushioned.
I have never worn this brand, or type of shoe before, so I want to give them a chance since my toes have plenty of room to move, and do not hit the front or sides of the shoes while I run/walk. Although I cannot stand my socks showing, I just ordered some bamboo ankle toe socks that I will try tomorrow and see if that prevents the rubbing/blister issue. Not sure what I can do about the hot temp or tilting; maybe they both will resolve as I acclimate to the shoes. I certainly have a lot of issues with this shoe, so I cannot recommend it at this time, and I may end up returning them, but I will determine that in another week or so after getting more use out of them. I'll keep you posted.

I wish I could buy the 4's again. They were the best. I ordered a size up in these and they are small and narrow.

I have been buying Torins since 2017- this is my 4th pair. I am not a runner, so they hold up a bit longer for me. I have a bunion and no padding on the soles of my feet. Torins give me the support and comfort I need. The 7's were a little more stiff than usual breaking in. I'm not sure what happened with the Torin 7. I get quite a bit of discomfort across the widest part of my foot and a blister formed on one of my toes. Torins have never done this before. I finally figured out it was the shoes. Maybe there has been a design change. Reconsidering the relationship.

I have loved every pair of Altras I've ever owned, but these have not held up AT ALL. The fabric on the sides has ripped, has holes, and the inside on the heel has totally come apart. I only wear these shoes to work and walking and have had them less than one year.

I loved the Torin sneakers and had many pairs. Until they changed the original footbed to "standard" footbed. Now they pinch the sides of my feet after wearing a few hours. Bring back the original footbed that made Altra so popular!
The Olympus still has the original footbed design but that sneaker is much more bulky and not as cushiony as the Torins were.

The tongue has definitely improved over the last two models. They are noticeably cushier. But the heel collar rides up so high it rubs my ankles. And the upper has holes in it after only 80 miles. The price point is too high for these shoes to be falling apart so soon. I miss the Torin 4 Plush model. Every iteration since then has had issues.

Ordered my normal size, 8.5 and they fit great and overall look great. BUT I’m highly disappointed in the quality of this shoe, Zappos is not at fault this is a Altra thing. I have only had the shoe not even three months and it is already tearing. Photos added to show partial tears on BOTH shoes.

I bought these for my mom, who is a nurse and on her feet a lot. She loved the 6s but the Torin 7's are too tight on the top of the foot. We think the changes to the tongue (and maybe the stack height) have reduced the vertical space.

Honestly, out of the box, the shoes didn't feel as sturdy as I expected. They felt cheap, although they do look cool. The toebox is bigger than your typical shoe but not by much. I returned them because they had no toe drop and it felt like all the weight was on my heels and like my knees were locked. I typically like Nikes which have at least some form of toe drop. They were fairly tight with my athletic socks on and while they looked cool they weren't for me, kind of upsetting.

I agree with a previous reviewer. My problem with Altra fit is not with the width, it is with the height from bottom of the foot to top of the foot in the front of the shoe. Most of the problem starts with the bottom of the laces being too shallow - (bottom of foot to top of foot.) And the end of most of the shoes are too shallow. I try to solve that by getting a longer size - which usually solves the too-shallow problem but results in the rest of the shoe being too big for my foot.

These shoes were very comfortable for the first couple days. Of course, I love the zero heel-to-toe drop and anatomically-shaped toe box. However, the depth of the shoe, where the foot sits, is not sufficient for comfort. The laces begin right around where the MTP joint of the big toe sits (aka the joint where people develop bunions). The shoe is not flexible and not smooth in this area. Although I have never had problems with this joint before, it is now in pain, red, and inflamed. It is ironic, because the wide toe box aims to prevent pain at this joint. The shoes are just too narrow from bottom to top, not side to side. I will explore whether other Altra products manage to avoid this issue!

i wanted to like these - i tried on a pair in a store, but didn't have correct size. the cushion and comfort were amazing in the moment but after receiving my correct size - and then wearing them around the house they made my toes go numb - i suppose the 0 degree drop takes some getting used to but i just didn't think i could swing it after several days of walking in then house in them i had to return - for me, i just need the heel/toe drop - i have high arches and i'm not accustomed to flat running shoes. i'm sorry to return because they felt like a cloud!

After less than 40 miles, the fabric on the sides started to split. Now that I've got over 100 miles on them, the shoe is totally coming apart. Blisters arrive where the fabric split within minutes.

I love these shoes as they have helped me walk despite plantar fasciitis and plantar fibromas. I am very disappointed in that the inside lining at the collar has ripped apart. I have only owned these shoes for 6 months. For the price the material should hold up better.

I love how comfortable these shoes are for walking and strength training, but the material on the sides began wearing out within 2 months. I've had them for 5 months now and big holes on both shoes.

I walk for exercise regularly and I'm on my feet all the time at work. These shoes are extremely comfortable, great cushioning. Much better than the last 2 versions of Torins. I do prefer the older Torin versions that had the original foot shape, but these are adequate. My complaint with these is that I have only been wearing them about 3 months and the material is wearing out on the side. I now have a hole on the side of the shoe at the place where the foot naturally bends when you walk.

I had the torin 5 and felt the width was fine. Purchased these and ran outside. Tight in the heel and so narrow. I can't return, since I wore outside. I think I'm needing to look into another company.
