The shoe fits well except for the Toe Box. It is narrow, tight, and feels compressed, not like the other styles I have owned. I have 6 pairs of Altra shoes due to my bunions and I love them for the comfort they provide, but not this shoe. I could only wear it for a very short time before my feet were in pain.

I have been wearing Altras for 6 years. I'm a true walker, and I live in the woods. I have climbed 600 feet of elevation over 1.5 miles every day, in different generations of these shoes, totaling 5 miles, for the last 5 years. Sadly, this generation is narrow, and is tight around the metatarsal area where the toes meet the foot. It's so bad that it feels like plantar fasciitis, after just 2 miles, of flat land paved walking. On gravel, it feels as if I have less control because my feet are so stiff. I wanted to like them, I've tried, but after two months they have no give or stretch, and are still very stiff and tight. I also think part of the reason it feels imbalanced is because the tongue of the show is fixed on one side, and there's a rubber strip that may add durability but keeps the shoe from flexing with the foot. Take us back to the older versions ALTRA!!! You earned our business based upon a wide tow box and supple foot bed, now we have come to expect the previous standard. Those of us who are regular hikers wear through the soles of our shoes once a quarter, anyway, so durability is importantly but not at the sacrifice of comfort.

Luckily my mother wears a half size smaller than I do so I don't have to go through the hassle of a return, but not pleased to be purchasing a second pair.

Much too narrow. Seriously, WHY is the Superior so narrow now? And low volume. You have to have a narrow, low volume foot to wear these. Now Altra has no shoes that fit me. The Escalante is so squishy with a structure-less upper and my feet literally slide fowards until it crashes into the toe and worse - my foot slides to the side on any uneven terrain and off the sole completely. The Lone Peaks are so wide and bulbous that there is no size that fits - my feet get blisters from sliding around all over the place. Can we go back to the days where the Superior was wide and the Lone Peak was extra wide? And stick to that? I don't expect to be able to wear every model. It would be GREAT if Altra offered a couple wide models, and a couple extra roomy models - and then STICKS to that convention - don't be changing widths on us every time you update a model.

This is my 5th pair of Altras and the narrowest by far. I was excited to try a little lower profile after two generations of Lone Peaks, but I am already losing feeling in my toes after 5 minutes.

I've been wearing Escalantes for a few years and I wanted something with a little more grip for trails. Unfortunately, the Superior, while wide enough to match the Escalante, is too tight over the tops of my arches and my toes. They become uncomfortable after about 20 minutes and I start to lose feeling in my toes. These would be perfect if there were just a bit more give in the fabric or could accommodate slightly more volume.

I have 5 other pairs of Altras, all the same size. This show was both too narrow and too short. Sadly I had to return it.

I am so bummed! Altra used to be my go to sneaker for their roomy toe box, but they don’t have that feature anymore. These were way too narrow for my wide toe box and bunion. If you’re looking for a roomy toe box and cute sneaker, I recommend the brand Topo, that’s what I’m buying from now on.

Like so many others, Superiors have been my go to for 2-3 years. I read the reviews that 6's are too narrow, but really hoped it wasn't true. I could barely get my foot in them. I returned them.

Have a beloved pair of lone peak 4.5 and ego. These new superior 6 are way too narrow at the base of the toes and way too little foot volume. I can barely get them on and tie a bow with how loose I have the laces. Even with loose laces the ball of my foot feels cramped and tight. I used to recommend everyone altras, but between the tight forefoot and the overly cushioned bottoms I'm not anymore. Please don't hoka my altras. (I spend most of my time in Earthrunners and Vivobarefoots)

I sent the shoes back as the seam on the lateral side of the shoe rubbed my foot and it hurt.

I was excited to upgrade my Superior 5's to the 6's and I was very disappointed. The toe box is so narrow that I haven't even attempted a run in them and won't.

Wow. I loved the superior 5. I can't believe how narrow these are. Toebox feels ok but it squeezes my foot. Such an awful fit I didn't even try to run in them. Why change the sizing when it's supposed to be the same shoe?

LIke this sneaker for its low, flatter sole, but the front toe box too large for my feet.

I was a SUPERFAN and hoped I could count on Altra shoes. But in the 4 years since my last order they've drastically changed. As others stated the inside volume in the front of the shoe is tight. The wide toe box doesn't compensate. It is a completely different fit. I Will try another model of Altra but I fear the company may not be accommodating the specific needs they once did. ) :

The superior 5 was perfect. The 6 is very constrictive over the ball of the foot. Just put them on and toes already sore.

I generally love Altras for the natural foot shape but these are way too narrow across the top of my foot causing my toes to go numb. Otherwise a great shoe - just wish they were wider.

Compared to the old superiors, these are way to narrow. The length of the shoe fits right. After wearing them for half an hour my feet started going numb. Not sure why they change fit of tgis shoe. They use to fit so comfortably and especially for people with bunions.

After 3 pairs of the 5 and not being able to find any more I tried these. They put my pinky toes to sleep, the length was fine but they were a tiny bit narrower but was to tight across the top !

Why do shoe companies change shoes when they have a loyal fan base? There's a reason why people continue to buy their shoes, but when they keep changing them and there are increasingly more options that are offering large tow box and zero drop, they are going to lose their base. If people, love the shoes then why change them? Superiors used to be low profile like Xero shoes but now they just seem like a regular road shoe. I loved feeling like I wasn't wearing hardly anything on the trails and I'm holding onto an early pair of Superiors! Also, make us colors for nature! These are trail shoes for God sakes.

I have been running in Altra shoes for years - the wide toe box has become a non-negotiable factor in choosing running shoes. When I got my first pair of Superiors (the 4.5) I felt like I had found the best possible shoe for my foot. The Superior 5 required an extra half size increase, which I stuck with when I ordered the Superior 6. It felt like an entirely different shoe. I triple checked the size on the box and tag because the toe box feels SO much smaller and narrower than my previous pairs. Yet, the heel is wider somehow? I had to stop to adjust my lacing three times to get my heel to stop slipping, while simultaneously dealing with numb toes from the lack of space up front. Why did you change the fit so much? I really want to know. Holding my last pair next to this one looks insane. They're the same size and the new ones look at least a full size smaller. I have been brand loyal to Altra since 2019, but I'm finding myself looking for something else.

I am used to Altra's fitting my wide feet but these were way too narrow. I had to stop a quarter mile into my trial run to go home because they were causing so much pain. I really like the light blue color though and would love to see it in the Torins or the Lonepeaks.

This is a beautiful shoe, in looks. The toe box is wide, but very shallow, much more so than superior 5. This makes it feel tight on the toes. There is enough width, but no height, making it super uncomfortable . There is no stretch in the upper either. I'm small , 5'2, and have a small thin foot. I've worn the superior since the 3. This model is unwearable. Looking forward to the 8, when they fix the toe box.

Size 10 with high instep/moderately-high volume foot. I can usually wear an Asics size 10 comfortably. These were SO TIGHT across my instep that the tongue didn't even cover it. Toe area was fine. Shame as I had read Altra was good for high insteps.
