The Arc'teryx Atom Hoody is truly a standout mid-layer jacket, embodying a perfect fusion of warmth, breathability, and versatility that caters to the needs of outdoor enthusiasts like myself.
Having utilized my Atom jacket across various activitiesfrom climbing to backpacking, and even as an additional layer during chilly nights in my sleeping bagit has consistently delivered exceptional performance.
One of the key features that continually impresses me about the Atom Hoody is its remarkable balance of mobility, warmth, and breathability. Regardless of the activity, whether I'm rock climbing or backcountry skiing, this jacket allows me to move freely while keeping me comfortably insulated and ensuring optimal airflow. It's a true all-rounder, ready to tackle any adventure with ease.
Whether I'm layering it under a shell for added warmth on the ski slopes or wearing it as a standalone piece during brisk hikes, the Atom Hoody excels in every scenario. Its ability to adapt to various conditions and activities makes it an indispensable part of my outdoor gear collection.
Overall, the Arc'teryx Atom Hoody has earned its place as a go-to choice for me, offering unparalleled performance and versatility in a single, well-crafted garment.

I've owned 3 Atom Hoody's and once I found it I never went back to other mid layers. Fits perfectly with a helmet on, roomy enough for multiple base layers, and trim enough for multiple layers on top

This atom hoody is the worst jacket I've ever owned !
Reason? I ride bikes often and was riding with coat on and got caught in a mild sprinkle of rain. This stained the coat, which took several days to disappear . Material is as sensitive as tissue paper . It's horribly designed and not for any precipitation!

I got the smoke-bluff Atom hoodie and I love the colour, the fit and the comfort that it provides. Warm enough to wear as a top-layer for daily activities and it has been the perfect mid-layer for mountain excursions!

I find the Atom Hoody just the right weight for shoulder-season activities or as an extra layer if colder. And the colour - absolutely beautiful!

The new Atom Hoody is great. Some of the changes are noticeable that I don't really care for. The string that was attached to the zipper pull for the jacket and pockets are now replaced with a hard-edged, solid vinyl/plastic-esque thing. Honestly, it's somewhat annoying since there's no softness or give and there's these parts of it that sticks out. So when the zipper is facing up (it happens, especially for pocket zippers when your hands are in them), they dig into your skin worse than a rough shirt tag on your side. I've been wearing my old one for years in all sorts of conditions and multiple washes, that string that this plastic replaced hasn't even frayed.
Otherwise, everything else about this jacket: Build Quality, Comfort, Design, etc... is the best I've ever had.

This is the most versatile mid layer I own. I love how it keeps me warm when needed but vents effectively.

I bought this jacket a couple of weeks back and the first time I wore it out I noticed thread from inside the jacket was coming out. Considering the price of the jacket I assumed they'd rectify the issue but no.
Arc'teryx are too caught up in the hype of being a fashion brand and have forgotten their ethos. People pay top dollar for top quality, and maintaining that standard should be top of their agenda.

Truly an excellent Purchase. This Atom Hoody is simply the best mid-layer all round jacket one can buy. To start off, the quality is great, zipper never fails, it's water proof to an extent and keeps me warm in regular conditions. The hood is the perfect size (usually a miss with outdoor jackets), the interior is super comfortable and warm with no extra layer needed in the inside for extra comfort, and the overall fit is perfect if your wearing it underneath, over top, or as a single layer. For a 5'9 athletic build, this jacket fits me perfectly, with the perfect amount of space to move, not too tight or loose, which gives it a very stylish and athletic look on the outside.
Temperatures: Now, here it gets iffy. The jacket is meant to be worn underneath an outer layer, or over-top of a hoodie, and for that it is literally perfect. Super comfortable and snug like you're getting a hug, warm, stylish and nonrestrictive, and can be worn in negative temperatures if used as a mid-layer. However, the jacket is also amazing when used on its own, as your only layer, that is under ideal temperatures. If your going on a walk, doing activities, or just talking to some buds at 10 degrees C and don't want to bundle up, this is perfect; keeps you warm, dry, doesn't make you sweat, and is very breathable and agile. However, if you are expecting this jacket to keep you warm in freezing temperatures, or in the snow, or in very windy circumstances where its 1 or 2 degrees, It simply will not. It will definitely help, and keep you somewhat warm, but not for long as it's not too thick. If used properly, it is a perfect jacket.
Overall: The jacket Is perfect. I used it when I'm going on walks, scooter rides, going to eat, as an extra layer, going to school, work, while driving if its cold, at night when going out, and as a base/mid-layer when skiing, in the snow, or during the cold months of winter in freezing temperatures. Furthermore, this jacket paired with the arcteryx insulated or an arcteryx alpha or beta shell is the perfect combo to keep you agile, warm, and dry. With this very flexible and reasonable price tag, the jacket fully satisfies all my needs, and is a number one pick when going out on a regular cloudy day. Fully recommend it, and I have never been happier with this purchase.

This is my core jacket from 35 to 55 degrees, wearing the Covert fleece when it's warmer, the Cerium when it's colder or really windy, and the Thorium when it's frigid. Looks great; nothing like it.

Great jacket for moderate to chilly temperatures. I bought this to be used as a stand alone as well as a mid layer for the colder outings. I've had the jacket about a month now and love it. The fitted fit is much nicer than some of the other boxier cuts and it's breathable. I've used it while hiking/walking as my outer shell in 19 degree weather with a thicker base layer and was fine. Jacket is lightweight, moves well with the body and is packable. I love the stretch cuffs making it easier to put on and take off over gloves. The hood also stays in place really well and doesn't hinder your vision or use of a headlamp. Haven't had it out in the rain yet to test the water durability. I'm sure when used as a mid layer this jacket will shine and keep you warm in the coldest temps. Great versatility allows you to go from the trail to a pub with ease. Overall, this is my go to jacket.

What a weird jacket. Nothing really makes sense about it but I still kinda want it, maybe only bc its called black sapphire instead of navy blue and I really like the muted versatile color. The pictures on here make this jacket seem way puffier than it actually is. The way this is pictured is what this jacket should actually be, especially since they have an SL line thats even somehow thinner than this jacket.
The jacket has virtually zero insulation, its just the two layers of outer shell with what seems like maybe a piece of paper between them. There is no puff to it at all except for the hood which adds to the comedy of this jacket.
I understand this jacket is meant to keep you cool, actually, not warm as youd easily think otherwise by the medium puff shown in the pictures. The ventilation on the sides makes this jacket not capable of warmth in wind or breeze. For what this jacket to be as versatile as it claims to be, the jacket of all jackets in your own words, this should be a smaller permanent ventilation zone with a zipper opening under arms.
The hood contradicts the entire jacket but it also adds a ton to the style appeal. The only puffed insulation in the entire jacket is in the neck and hood which makes it a little out of place in warmth that the body of the jacket is built for.
The size is what it is but I disagree with it. This is cut like the now kinda fading t-shirt trend, which is meant for mediums to fit 61 170 lb models perfectly. Narrower shoulders and long torso. I personally dont understand how this ever became such a standardized cut but it is. Im 511 190ish lbs. Athletic lifter, not body builder. The medium is unappealing, tight at shoulders and not too long but just narrows me out in an unflattering way. The large is too long and looks sloppy especially when unzipped.

The Atom Hoody checks every box for a perfect jacket, except for one major design flaw. I had the jacket replaced 3 times in hopes that I was just unlucky, but it's a consistent issue. The left sleeve cuff has a problem in the seam where it digs into your skin, as shown in the picture below. The design not only has this problem but compared to the proton cuff it seems less durable in terms of tightness, shape. Otherwise it's a fantastic product that'll impress you with its warmth to weight ratio and performance. I really want to love this jacket but I hate that my left wrist always has the seam lip digging in my skin.

I basically live in my Atom Hoody. As a full time climbing coach and guide, it is perfect for nearly every season. It's my go to extra layer for rock climbing and always on while ice climbing. Can't recommend this jacket enough. I would give it 6 stars if there were a chest pocket.

This jacket is supremely versatile. I wear it all the time - it's often the first layer I grab if it's a bit cooler. Great patterning and fit for me. I am 5'8" and 160lb and wear a medium

The Atom is my go to everything layer. It is an approach jacket for cold mornings, that goes under a shell for the climb or the ski down. It's a summer weight puffy jacket. It's a fleece replacement that weights less. I love the elastic cuffs, they work under gauntlets and smaller gloves can be tucked in. The fabrics are soft and comfy, but durable for their weight. Lastly it breaths quite well, but still cuts a bit of wind. I almost always bring it with me.
Note. I wear medium in all other products, but I went large in the atom for more room.

I'm on my 3rd copy of this jacket -- all of them have been formidable opponents to kayak guiding, ski guiding, and everyday abuses of a middle-aged male. Ultimately only succumbing to fire and/or grease (and then I just use them as a labouring jacket in off-seasons).
Really easy to care for and perfect for the humid conditions on the BC Coast.
2 Thumbs Up.

I've owned 2 of these jackets over the years, one is now a dirty job jacket (still in great shape just with a few burn holes from bonfires), and the newer one I wear everyday while working as a ski guide, or through out the year whenever the temp drops. The fit and versatility of this jacket are exceptional. It comes with me on ever adventure and I consider it an essential piece of my kit. Worn as a mid layer or stand alone jacket, it handles being dressed up to go out for a night on the town, and traversing a knife ridge to access the goods! Built to last and with the attention to detail / design that Arc'teryx is known for. No matter your activities of choice, this jacket will become your go to.

I don't have anything to add, these are great jackets. I just wish you would make these and/or the atom jacket in the Tatsu color. That's a great color and I think it should be a standard color.
