I bought this as I was always carrying in multiple bags to work including laptop, purse and lunch. I got the large and there is so much room! I have a massive lunch bag, laptop, purse, water bottle, jacket and there is still more room. The black and white look classy and I love the monogram. I also love that it stands up on its own and doesn't flop over when empty. It makes the area around my desk look so much cleaner. I couldn't be happier and I expect to use this for many years to come!

We often give this bag, personalized, as a new baby gift. It has many uses as a carry all when going out with the baby, a toy collector in the home, & a perfect holder for children's books. Everyone to whom we have given it, loves this Bean bag.

Love this bag! It is so handy and will carry a lot! The zipper is nice, especially for traveling. I have this tote and got one for a Christmas give. The recipient was very happy and wants pieces to match. Let me thank L. L. Bean for working with me on a return of the first tote I ordered. The monogram was wrong, due to my mistake. L. L. We have had literally dozens of these bags over many years; they never wear out (just get gross looking!). Funny thing, my wife ordered me the same bag for xmas, and we coincidentally had requested the same monogram (boat name) on the bag. However, LL Bean took it upon themselves to spell check my wife's order and changed the name of the boat! Turns out, played into why we named the boat what we did; so no issue. The XL bag is huge, if it doesn't fit all your stuff, then you are bringing too much with you.

I had a discount coupon and used it to order the XL boat and tote. It is very sturdy and excellent quality. I recently took it on a trip and was able to fit so much in it without having to worry if it would hold up. I'm glad I got the long handles to be able to carry on my shoulder. Also had an initial monogram, which gives it a bit of extra style. I highly recommend this product!

Study canvas bag, great for any job you may have. I use it mostly for traveling, you can get loads of stuff in it. I got the monogram as well.

I got the small bag to use for my knitting and for a larger purse. As w/ALL the other LLB bags that ARE Made in USA, this is the SAME GREAT BAG! I had my name put on it and it makes for a nicer touch! My only complaint is the zipper! You CAN'T push it all the way to the end or else you will be trying to grab it out! I try to keep it part way out of the very end to keep from needing to push it to get it out. Other then that, this is a GREAT BAG! I LOVE the smaller one for little stuff and using it as a Big purse! These are VERY WELL made w/a HEAVY canvas! You CAN'T beat them! They are basically indestructible! And will hold for years on end. I think my larger one is over 10 yr. now and looks as good as new!

I've always wanted one of these bags and I finally got one! The bag is VERY durable, and will last a very long time. I had monogramming done and it was misspelled, but LLbean quickly made it right! Thank you!

Love love love this tote. Durable and strong it's become a new favorite to haul whatever I need. Lately it's been summer items, swimsuits and towels, as well as all my gym gear when I went on vacation in Maine. The zip top for me is crucial so I can stow it without worrying about anything falling out. The zipper is a little tough to get started, but otherwise it's super strong. I also love the monogram!! So cute. The only thing I would change would be to get the tote with the long handles instead of the regular. It would be easier to throw it over my shoulder. That just means I need to get another!

This is a sturdy tote that can handle several things in it. I like the handle (it's a little long, but I ordered the long handle). I am glad that it is made to handle winter weather. I also like the monogram on the front; it suits me well and I use it to handle my Jazzercise "stuff". I am glad that I purchased it. I also like that it has a zipper and closes well. All-in-all, I would highly recommend it! I anticipate that it will last for several years, where others have not made it through a winter, where the salt and ice ruined them.

I bought monogrammed Boat & Tote bags for my nieces at Christmas, and a sale prompted me to buy another one for myself! This time I ordered the zippered version, but either way, they are so convenient and much heavier than the run-of-the-mill tote you get at other places. My only regret is that I chose a different blue for the monogram other than the shade suggested, and probably should have gone with Bean's recommendation. Lesson: Trust L.L. Bean, not your monitor.

The quality of the Boat and Tote Bags is second to none. I absolutely love these bags, and I own several, and I've given several as gifts. I'm a teacher, and they make perfect book bags. Purchased 7 bags for my daughters bridesmaids, monogrammed with their initials. The customer service (I had a lot of questions) and the bags were both A+. They were delivered very quickly. I bought the tote bag for my godchildren in England, specifically for their new little daughter. They could not have been more pleased with my gift. I made a mistake with the monogram, which I realized quickly and called LLBean to make the change. They said that my order was already being processed, yet agreed without hesitation, to send me the corrected one, crediting me for the first. I was amazed!! I carried the bag to England as a "carry-on" - the tote works wonderfully for that purpose - I recommend it to any traveler....

I bought the large boat tote in college to carry books and computer to the library late at night. It could fit several thick science books, laptop, charger, pencil pouches, binders, water bottle, etc. The handles are so sturdy. That bag is now 6 years old and just as sturdy. I will buy these again and again (although they probably never need replacing!).

We initially purchased a tote at a local store which has monogramming capabilities. We explained our monogramming need and the importance of having it done in a timely manner. Unfortunately the store let us down in every way. The tote arrived late (they shipped it 4 day's post purchase when we were told it would go out the next day) and the stitching was not as discussed. We contacted the store for a resolution and received nothing. Contacting LL Bean's customer care on the phone we received all the help we could ever want from the representative. She was attentive, took all necessary steps to make this situation right and could not have been more professional or caring had we asked. Overall we are happy our newborn has her very own first LL Bean tote and it is thanks to the representative on he phone.

Sent this w/monogram to a daughter for her birthday. She was delighted, especially liked the zipper. As always, products are high quality -- also high priced!

This is a great tote! Very study, and makes a wonderful gift! it can carry a great deal of weight if you're looking for something practical or can make a great bag to keep in your car for trips to the farmers market or other local locations! Wood highly recommend customizing with the monogram option.

My go to gift.One comment from a father was that when u name a baby it takes awhile for the name to sink in. But when the personalized bag comes from L.L.Bean u know the name is cast in stone. I did not see an opportunity to comment on a custom tote, so I hope it is okay to do so here. I submit this for anyone who may be on the fence about ordering one of these exactly as you want it - DO IT!! I got the medium size with the option of longer handles so that I can put it on my shoulder and keep my hands free. I also got the zip top, which is worth the extra money. Mine has a black body with pink trim and a pink monogram, and it is so CUTE! And, I will never see another one like it. I use it to carry all of those extra items to work so that I don't have to stuff it into my already-full purse. It easily holds a laptop or tablet, books, small lunch bag, water bottle, and has room to spare. I love this bag and you will too.

I ordered the large tote after measuring and re-measuring. I wanted to carry it on a plane but this tote is really large, its too big to use as a carry-all so I had to order a medium and return the large. The color and monogram is very beautiful but doesnt serve my purpose..Bean was great about this tote and sent me a medium immediately..Thank-you L.L. Bean..

Larger than expected,will easily hold everything needed for a weekend away. I got the long straps and am happy I did. Short straps would be difficult to carry in my opinion. Canvas is very sturdy. No wonder they guarantee it will hold up to 500 lbs! Looks like it will last for many years,happy with my purchase!

I ordered four of these bags to haul groceries. California's new anti plastic law has me searching for the perfect grocery bag. Unless you are Arnold Schwarzenegger; you will not be able to carry the extra large bags when they are full as they are just to big. I sent them back and ordered 1 small, 1 medium, and 1 large. I thank L.L. Bean for the return of the way too big bags. What I like best about these bags are the zipper top; no more chasing cans and cabbage heads rolling around in my SUV. The canvas bags are very well made to last a life time.

I received this bag as a gift eight years ago...and it is still going strong! I use it for carrying everything: groceries, toys to park, library books, picnic things. My toddler loves sitting in it, reading books! HA! I've found the large to be the perfect size for my needs (filled full of groceries, it can be heavy, but is manageable for me and saves me trips into the house!), and I love the long straps. I can wear it over my shoulder, carry it at my side, or with the zip-top closed, I've even carried it like a backpack! I bought a second one six years ago - one has a zipper and one does not - and prefer the zipper to be there in case I'd like to close it. When I'm not using the zippered closure, it all folds down inside and doesn't interfere at all. I've also chose to have a single monogram on the outside and it's the perfect size: not too small, not too large. I LOVE THEM! Perfect to have at home and give as gifts.
