The heel part on the side kept jabbing on my foot making it very uncomfortable. Also felt a little too big. Thought it was because of the gtx so tried original version. Same problem. Hoka Clifton 9 is not the same fit as Hoka Clifton 8 in my experience.

The bottoms of the shoe started coming apart within 3 months of my daughter wearing these at her part time job. These cost way too much to have this to happen.

I have owned several pairs of Clifton sneakers and probably run/walk 7+ miles every day. They hold up great and are very comfortable. I got these because I do run in rain or bad weather sometimes. There are several reasons I don't like these goretex shoes. The tongue is completely attached on both sides making it lumpy if you tie your shoes tight. The goretex in the tongue adds more to the uncomfortable feel in the tongue as it is rigid unlike soft fabric tongues and bulky making it feel like you have a piece of hard plastic on top of your foot. It also tends to wrinkle and hold the wrinkle no matter how loose you tie the laces making lumps in the tongue that are very uncomfortable. I kept the pair, because I had worn them a few times and they were now used and also very expensive. I think I ended up hurting my toes, feet and running in an odd way because I can't lace them tight enough for my feet. The tongue is just too rigid and not forgiving and so uncomfortable that I lace slightly loose and it still hurts the top of my feet. I think I might have to retire them already and I just got them in January. So bummed and thinking I might have to switch brands due to expense of the shoes, how quickly they wear out and comfortability

Normally a hoka lover and have worn their shoes consistently for years. generally wear the Bondi's but was recommended to try the Cliftons by the hoka staff and HATED them. the toe box is so tight and the lacing of the shoe rubs the tendons on the top of your foot and ankle. as a long distance D1 runner, I was hopeful that the extra cushioning of the shoe would help protect my bones and reduce injury but be less chunky than the Bondi which I use for walking since I work at a hospital and am on my feet so much. however I was ultimately super disappointed and dissatisfied with this shoe

I have had these GTX for just barely over a year (purchased 10/23). I only wear them to walk my dog when the conditions outside are wet. So, they are NOT worn daily. I wear my regular Clifton 9 shoes on the other days. I am SO disappointed in how quickly and totally the treads on these shoes disintegrated! I literally must throw them away. I have since purchased other pairs of the GTX and am regretting that now. Comfortable and great walking shoe but lifespan is horrible!! If I could post a picture, I would to verify my concerns.

I bought this product, cause nurses was telling its good if your on your feet for a long time. It actually hurt me and my foot has gotten injury swollen unbearable to walk. I definitely want to return if I can. Cause that's a lot of money I spent to think I was getting a perfect tennis shoe.

I've been wearing the Cliftons for years, and after my feet got soaked walking in the rain, I decided I needed the GTX. They are not the same fit or feel at all. They run small, so I sized up, but the next size was right lengthwise, but they were swimming on me. Normally, I would have tied the laces tighter, but there is no way to do that with this shoe because the tongue is attached to keep out water and debris. Very sad that these didn't work because I want a waterproof shoe that I can walk all day in, and Hokas are my go to shoe.

I had to return this. I wanted to love it but both pair makes my heels and inner ankles bend inwards, it's uneven and unstable for me. I have neutral or flat feet.

As someone who suffers from heel spur , this sneakers was recommended for me. I did not like it. The insole was to low, no extra cushioning. I end up buying a whole new insole.

I am very dissatisfied with this purchase, I bought my first hoka for my husband and me in 2021 and they are in better condition than the ones we bought this year in April, they broke inside and this really makes me feel very disappointed with the quality

I have several pairs of Cliftons which I love. I bought these to replace Clifton leather gtx pair with a lot of miles. These shoes don't feel neutral at all - caused new calluses and pain on my outer big toes. These shoes pushed my feet into a pronated (and painful position). Please bring back previous versions of Cliftons. Whatever design changes were made the 9 are enough so they shouldn't be classified as Cliftons anymore.

The first thing for something to be water resistant is the quality of the product. I had water from a very light rain seeping into the top of my shoe. Very falsely advertised and extremely disappointed. Will be returning and sticking to Salomon.

I had to return the sneaker I was looking for Gortex for the winter and the model I like doesn't come in Gortex, so tried this. It's made more like a shoe. The tongue is stitched to the sides of the sneaker so that the laces really do nothing. It's more like a slip on shoe. It was much too tight across the top of my foot and there was no way to loosen them. With my other Hoka's, the tongue is stitched to elastic on booth sides or only stitched on one side and free on the other. I returned them. I do wear orthotics but I took out the shoes insole to put in the orthotic so the height really shouldn't have been different.

The worst shoes I have ever put on my feet. I am a nurse and was looking for a shoe that will cushion my walk and help decrease back pain, your product is not it.

I love the Clifton model and have worn a number of models. I wanted to love these as stormy weather shoes. My foot is on the narrow side. This GTX shoe hurts my feet. Due to the fact that they are much stiffer, they bruised my ankle bone. Maybe I would need to wear thick socks all the time to avoid the discomfort. Unfortunately, I did not try them out when I first received them. Not practical for me due to the pain. Stopped wearing after two days walking my dogs due to the pain.

I love the fit of these, love that they're waterproof and all black but the soles of the shoes are peeling off like an orange peel and I've only had them two months - major design and product flaw. And when I try telling them about it, they tell me just to return them for a credit, but I'll be responsible for paying shipping, and I'd have to re-purchase them, which would take how long and still pay for shipping again? Super disappointing the product is falling apart after 2 months, especially for that price point, and the customer service is not good about it at all. Shame.

I only wear these shoes for walking in office at work and around the house. The smal circles of tread on sole are coming off on one shoe.

I never dreamed I'd be writing a negative review for Hoka. I've loved every shoe I've purchased until now. I bought the Clifton 9 GTX in November in preparation for wet, winter runs. When I first put them on my feet I noticed they didn't have the same cushion as the Challenger. Still trusting that a Hoka would never let me down I gave them a try. After a couple weeks I was having trouble with pain from pressure on the outside of one ankle. I tried loosening the lacing and even not lacing the top two eyelets, which helped a bit but reduced stability a lot. Then, within one month the tread under the heel of both shoes peeled up and tore off. I wish I could saw I we running incredible high milage but unfortunately, I had only been running 10 - 15 miles a week. I've never seen a running shoe of any brand break down this quickly. Maybe I got a "lemon".

I was so upset I couldn't wear these shoes because everyone raves about HOKA. I have large ankles and the top of the shoe cut into my ankle bone. I thought it was because the shoe was too narrow so I went to a running store and tried the wide size. It still hurt. It's not HOKA, it's me. I have this problem with certain shoes.

I really wanted to like these shoes but was very disappointed. I've heard such good things about Hoka. I ordered these for my winter walking shoes because they were waterproof. They look very cheap especially for the price. The overall fit was good but there was very little to no arch support. Sad to have to return them but I can't afford to keep a pair of shoes that I am unhappy with.

I was very excited to buy and receive this GTX shoes! Unfortunately my excitement didn't last long.. this shoes are very rigid and makes my feet hurt a lot!! Previously I had bought the Mach 5 which are light and comfy for running, and walking every day. I love this shoes because they don't hurt my fee.
