The fit and size were great but the bottom was too squishy.

Returned 2 pairs of Clifton's due to wear issues (tears in heel cup and separation of upper from sole). Decided to switch to the Gaviota and they are working out fine. A little bit stiffer than Clifton.

Everything but the width is great. Support and length are good, but I bought the wide version and these aren't much wider than regular. So still a little tight up on the front half of the foot.

I like these shoes overall.
Pros:
Good stability without feeling like it is overcorrecting.
Nice wide toe box.
Breathable.
Cons:
Wore out quicker than most shoes (not the tread, just that they started to cause pain)
Heel area really smushes down easily. I have to take care and remember to untie them every time and not just slip them on.

As a long time Hoka customer,I thought this shoe would have a lot of support and be good for me. I have the Arahi that is worn now, and thought I would try this shoe that is listed as being stable. but its too wide for me and not enough support. I also ordered the Transport which is perfect and am keeping that shoe.

I’m on my second pair! I walk about 17 miles a week on concrete and wear down the soles pretty quickly. The comfort is wonderful. I have issues with my hip, so cushion is very important to me. I do wish the soles wouldn’t wear out so quickly.

Great fit, but yes, they sort of look like 'clown shoes' with the wider toe box. Yet that box makes them so very comfortable. I will be exchanging my pair however as there is a strange 'squeak' in the soles that appeared after only a brief time wearing them around the house. These are my second pair of Hoka Gaviota's and they are overall an excellent shoe for walking and being on your feet a long time.

You have remade this shoe since my last pair. I bought two pairs of the Gaviota 4 and love them. I was very disappointed to learn you had completely remade the shoe when I tried to order more. I normally wear a wide, but because of all of the comments, I decided to get a "B" with, it's a good thing I did because I could never have worn these in a wide. I love the extra cushion in the footbed and around the heel but I hate the way they look on my feet. Though I normally have to buy a wide shoe, I have a narrow heel, these have enough padding in the heel they don't slip when I'm walking up a hill or stairs. The left shoe has a pucker in the toe for some reason, I'm thinking the material wasn't put on quite right because the right shoe does not do that and maybe I should have gone down a half size with this particular shoe because my big toes seem to press against the side of the shoe after I've been wearing them for a while. I really don't understand why you removed the reflective emblem from the back of the show. Reflective shoes are very nice when walking in the dark.

This is not my first pair of gaviota, I have tried all styles Hoka. Just wish they fit consistent from shoe to shoe. Bought online, same style, size as previous I loved, but definitely do not fit the same. Disappointing since they are so very expensive.

When the podiatrist offered a brand and specific model of shoe for my arthritic feet, I decided to try them though the price gave me pause! Love the result! Ordered online because of color choice.

I love these shoes! The most comfortable ever and they're a perfect walking shoe, no knee pain "at all" and good heel comfort, roomy toe box. I would have given a 5 star but have to say, they run larger (I ordered a half size down) and they are wider than most B width shoes. I've had absolutely no knee discomfort since wearing these shoes.

The insole was not comfy. The edges of the insole felt hard on the soles of my feet.

The fit and feel have improved from prior versions which were too tight in toe box. These run roomy whuch works with thicker socks. The basic blue color is great but I could live without the pink, lime and orange accents.

Would like if you provided options such as slip-ins, non-slip and they run warm, would like shoes to be breathable.

I haven't bought sneakers in a while, but I needed a pair to wear at work as I am on my feet about half the day depending on what I am doing, and my friends recommended this brand. when I first tried them on they felt a bit small but were longer than my toes, so I was worried that they would not work. I have found them to work great. I wore them to the state fair this week (which is probably 6 hours or so of just walking) and my feet did ache a bit afterwards, but I am not sure if that was the shoes or if that was the walking for 6 hours. So far they have been like walking on clouds at work. I have been wearing them for about a week and a half so far, so I will report back in a few months if things change. But so far I would definitely recommend.

I use this product for walking and working out at the gym. It is true to size, has great cushioning and is a good looking shoe inspite of being bulky. However, it appears that the shoe's arch support is not aligned properly and thus causing pain when walking. I'm considering returning them. In addition, I am unable to fit my specialized foot pad in the shoe and a larger size would be TOO big I will continue to wear this show until I find a better fit, Hopefully through HOKA. Overall, I think its a great shoe.

This style shoe has been my go to "getting around town" shoe since i was first introduced to HOKA several years ago. My heels are still very happy on my morning power walks. There doesn't seem to be quite as much attention to cushioning the ball of the foot. As an older active person this is a big comfort issue. I definitely want style but my older feet need the cushioning beyond the heel strike zone.

The Gaviota 5 has a lot more room in the toes and forefoot than the Gaviota 4. For me, it is too much room. It makes the shoes sort of unstable (I use on trails as well as on the road). Had to send them back and not sure what I’m going to do now.

I use to wear a Bondi 7 size 9 Wide with my orthotics. Due to the negative reviews I read of the Bondi 8, I ordered the Hoka Gaviota 5 sizes 9 Wide and 9 B. My feet floated around in the Gaviota 9 Wide, so I went with the Gaviota 9 B. Gaviota does not have the same cushion as a Bondi 7 but I still am hesitant to order the Bondi 8.

I like the Gaviota almost as much as the Bondi8. I use the Gaviota's for power walking about 50km or so every week on +100 degrees Mississippi pavement & I used my worn out Bondi8 for disc golf.
I'm AARP aged & during the times I have tripped, these shoes caught traction every time thankfully. I tried a different brand than HOKA recently and they hurt my blistered toes so badly that I returned them immediately & purchased the Gaviotas. I hope these last at least a year for me on hot pavement like the Bondi did.

So disappointed love my 4 but this gaviato 5 is longer and wider. So now I don't know if I should go down half size, decrease width or both. Currently wear 9 wide and ordered 9 wide

These are my power walking shoes. Two to three miles a day. They are not as "plush" as you advertise. Can't tell much difference between these and my Clifton's or bondis. Except the price.
