The Gaviota 5 fits my foot perfectly. I am athletic! Love hiking! I also have a less common type of arthritis which means I need extra cushion, a wide footbed. I pair this with a quality insert like Power Step for even more ankle and arch support. This shoe is also designed so you can tie it up for even more ankle support. If you hike, buy a half size too big to accommodate your hiking socks. Finally, the shoe looks GREAT!

I have 4 pairs of Hoka Cliftons, which I really liked, but when i saw that the Gaviota 5's had even more stability, I decided to try them. They have made all the difference in my being able to walk longer each day. I love the roomy toe box and I love that my feet are more stable which reduces pain and fatigue in my back. I am 71 years old and have several issues with my feet. These are a game changer. Please don't ever chnage them!

I'm on my feet on a concrete slab as a cashier and these shoes make my day . I'm looking to get a pair for my husband so he doesn't have to hear about them constantly from me,he can experience them himself. If considering insoles I would recommend getting the wide version.

My daughter was thrilled to get these shoes. She wore her other pair of Hoka's completely out. Thank you for having size 5 in wide width because it's difficult to find.

I wore Gaviotta 4s and loved them, and I was initially dissatisfied with the changes in the 5 - it just didn’t seem to fit as well-felt too long and wide. Having a difficult time finding something I liked as well as my 4s, so almost on a whim I tried the 5 in a half size smaller than I usually wear in running shoes and WOW what a difference. Moral for me at least is not to assume the same size will always fit. Now I totally love my Gaviotta 5s - maybe even better than my old 4s!

I purchased the Hoka Gaviota 2 a few years ago for myself and my wife. The shoes were super comfortable and stable. My wife is still using the 2 and refuses to give them up. I decided to purchase a new pair for her. She really likes the fit and stability of the Hoka shoes.

Love how bouncy they are. They are a more cushioned wide fit than the bondis!

I bought these to give my ankle stability. I usually wear Bondi 7 in 8.5 wide. A number of reviews wrote that the Gaviota 5 runs wide but I ordered 8.5 in both the medium and the wide widths to compare. I tried on the medium and they were just as wide as my Bondi wide so I packed up the Gaviota 5 wide and sent it back. If you have slim feet, I would not recommend these shoes. But for those who need padding, stability, and width, they are perfect.

HOKA is the best shoes that I have ever worn! They fit me better than any before and most of all, they have literally cured all of my foot / leg / knee and back pain when standing or exercising for any period of time. I am on my third pair of HOKA's and have two different styles, which I have loved both. I am a walker, not a runner, but as I've gotten older, there were times when the pain just got to be too much. Then I found HOKA's and yes, they are expensive, but worth every penny. The saying holds true, you get what you pay for. Obviously, every shoe is going to fit every person differently, so you just have to be diligent and keep trying them on until you find the one. One thing I can say to the people who haven't had the same positive experience, is that I am truly sorry, because you just maybe one of the few unfortunate ones, who's feet won't comply and I am so glad that mine do! Also, one last note worth mentioning, they came highly recommended by my podiatrist and work perfect with my orthotic inserts.

Love these athletic shoes. They are the only shoe that I get the arch support that I need. And, I like the roomy toe bed. I've tried others and don't get both of these in one shoe.

I liked the shoe, it just didn’t fit well. The length of the shoe was fine. However, the toe box is very wide and the fabric wrinkled up as I walked.

I wear these shoes every day fall, winter and spring and sometimes in the summer. I have tried other HOKAs but the Gaviotas are the ones for me.

This shoe gives my feet great support and they are like walking on cushions. I use them for every day walking and light hiking on sidewalks, asphalt, dirt and mountain trails.
They do make my feet look quite wide but I believe all the space in the toe bed is part of the reason the shoes are so comfortable. I recommend the Gaviota shoe to anyone who has had foot surgeries, need great support and/or have worked on their feet for 47 years.

I searched so long to find a supportive shoe that helped with my problem feet and finally found it in the Gaviota 5! I have both plantars faciitis and peripheral neuropathy. Not an easy combo. The wide toe box and breathable upper was the best I found for my neuropathy. The amazing support around, and under, the heel has felt like near a miracle cure for my plantars faciitis. I've only been wearing them 3 weeks but, so far, I'm beyond happy with these shoes. I tried well over a dozen pair of shoes before finding these gems. Tbh, I never dreamed I'd spend this much but I don't regret a single penny of it.
I bought the real teal color and they're very pretty. Not as teal as I thought they'd be (they're more blue) but that probably makes them a little more versatile. I bought my regular size for an athletic shoe (which is a size up from my old everyday shoes). The toe box is wide - a little shocking when you first put it on but they're so comfortable when you get used to it. I didn't know what it felt like to not have my toes all cramped in a shoe! My foot is medium width, borderline wide, but I've never bought a wide width shoe. This shoe may not fit as well on someone with a narrow foot.
Finally, I'm not a runner, just someone with problem feet, so I can't speak to how they perform athletically. They are excellent for walking and everyday use though.
