I had plantar fasciitis and bone spur removal on both feet and ankle surgery two months ago. These shoes are comfortable, cushy but stable with nice arch support. They look so wide on me that my little feet look like Fred Flintstone feet in them but I love them

I was an avid new balance customer the last decade but the last heat I switched to hoka Bondi. (I've bought 8 pairs in the last year, I blow through my shoes at work) I thought I Couldn't have been more satisfied until I recently tried these gavita 5's! Love them! I'm a massage therapist and on my feet all day I also have runners knee/patella tracking issues and these shoes have balanced out the stability I was lacking and I have no knee issues since. Thanks hoka!

I have a very high arches,2 fractured sesemoide bones and require a stability shoe (most people should wear a shoe with good stability). The Gaviota 5 offers the soft underfoot feel I want, plus stability to prevent over pronation.

I have flat feet and needed a wider shoe without going too wide, and it's perfect! It's sooo comfy, I feel like I'm not wearing shoes at times. I upgraded from the Rincon (still a great shoe I would recommend if this one is too pricey) to this one .

I purchased these because I have neuropathy in both feet and needed a stable but well padded walking shoe. I absolutely LOVE them. I wear them every day ALL day.

I have been wearing the Gaviota 5 for over a month and find it very supportive in my daily workouts. It is comfortable and gives me the support I need to walk and jog my 4 miles daily.

I took their quiz to find the correct shoe. I am 60 years old and like a nice cushion under my feet. My needs are a wide shoe and stabilizing for better balance. This shoe fits the bill perfectly. I have worn it for different occasions and different lengths of time. I totally forget that I'm wearing it because it is so comfortable. One con is that the tire need it a little bit long, but does not affect the comfort.

My pair fit perfect like all my other Hoka! Was afraid maybe too small because order larger size, mine fit EXCELLENT!! I like to wear all my running shoes as much as possible before running, the 1st time wearing these truly are the most comfortable Hoka yet! And I have the Skyward X Bondis all of them really over 20 pair I think! For me this style fits foot perfect offering even greater support.

This is my first pair of the Gaviota 5. I had worn out two pairs of the Bondi style. I wanted the plush comfort again, plus needed pronation support. I bought these for a vacation where there would be a LOT of walking. Over 10K in steps a day and my feet did not hurt! My custom orthotics fit inside easily.

My hubby is diabetic and needed something with support and cushion. He absolutely loves these. Our son works at a hospital and is on his feet a lot so these are great for that.

For someone like me with medium width feet that feel cramped in many Hokas, and who want a more stable, well-balanced feel, but still very well cushioned, these are the pinnacle of the Hoka line. With almost all Hokas I've had to order wide versions because my forefoot and toes get cramped in their standard width. I don't need the extra volume in the heel and midsole but to get a comfortable feel for my entire foot, I've resorted to wide (2EE). With the Gav 5 that is not necessary. I did have to go up a size, from my usual 11.5 to 12, but the fit is perfect. My other favorite Hokas are the Arahis. But with all of them I have to order the wide. So if you're looking for a stable, well-balanced feel but if you find you want more cushioning and more room upfront, the Gavs are the ideal choice. I am strictly a walker, so I don't need the massive cushioning in Bondis or Cliftons. I find them to be almost like walking on memory foam stilts, not very secure, but probably nice for pounding pavement during long runs. I'm long past the running stage. Anyway, I highly recommend the Gavs (I also have 5 pair of Arahis).

Hubby bought me a pair of Hoka Gaviota 5s and I'm in love with them. The stability is perfect, I've never owned such a stable walking shoe. The heel toe stepping is so smooth it's like the shoes are walking for me, no rubbing on my ankle or back of my heel due to the excellent cushioning. The Gaviota 5 makes walking blissful I am highly impressed.

After undergoing foot surgery, I struggled to find shoes that fit comfortably. Most of my previous pairs left me in pain, and I had to give up my daily three-mile walks. That all changed with the HOKA Gaviota 5.
These shoes have truly been a blessing. The wide toe box gives my toes the space they need, while the narrow heel ensures a snug, secure fit. The combination provides excellent stability and cushioningexactly what I needed during recovery.
Thanks to the Gaviota 5, I can walk pain-free again and have confidently resumed my daily walks. If you're recovering from foot surgery or simply need a supportive, comfortable shoe, I can't recommend these enough!

nice wide toe box. I used to get the hoka bondi 7 which I loved, but the bondi 9's toe box is much more narrower. had to return and found these Gaviota 5. they will work, but I am saddened that I can no longer wear the bondi's. they are my favorites.I wished they would go back designing the toe box wider like the 7's.

A podiatrist recommended the Bondi model. I tried it and found it too squishy and made me very unstable. A friend recommended Gaviota and found it to be vastly better. Not perfect, though. My feet are, apparently, narrower than most, so most shoes, like this, are too wide. It is also a bit firm on its own. I fixed these by getting an inexpensive pair of cushion insoles. The orthotics go on top if the insoles. Now I'm ready to go; shoe fits well and just the right balance of comfort & stability. I also would like to see a more water resistant upper material.

My walking routine was in jeopardy due to a bunion on one foot, and some kind of metatarsal issue on the other foot. My podiatrist had recommended Hoka shoes, so I finally relented and ordered a pair of women's size 10. They were snug, so I exchanged them for a women's size 10.5W and I'm so glad I did. Finally a toe box that accommodates my funky feet. The insoles felt rigid at first, but I found the cushioning quite adequate while out walking. I may have to add a metatarsal pad to the left shoe to for extra support but that's an easy fix.
