I thru hike the PCT every year; 2652 miles and go thru five to six pairs of Stinsons per year. The cushioning, the rocker, the tread, and upper material are near perfect for the task. After destroying about fifty pairs, the only glaring con is that the forefoot is not foot shaped. Thru hiking causes your toes to splay out, as they naturally should, but Hoka refuses to offer a foot shaped shoe, so i must modify mine right out of the box with heat and scissors to accommodate my toes. Why oh why won't Hoka sell a Stinson shaped like the human foot??!

I wanted the Stinson but the women's version does not come in a wide so I purchased the men's. With the sizing chart and going by the EU size I was able to get a good fit. The Stinson is one of their narrower shoes - which is a shame. Even the men's version is not as wide a one would think for a D width. That being said it is a good comfortable shoe with a nice trail tread. And I really like that this year they added that rubber-ish material to the toe area. Much easier to keep clean.

I would not describe these as plush cushioned. If you are expecting the feel of Gaviotas or Arahis you are going to be disappointed. But they are great stable shoes for the trails.

I ordered to Stinson 7 shoes to use while playing golf. I'm a senior golfer who wants to walk on the course while playing for the benefits of exercise (sorry, but jogging is just way too boring & hard on the knees). I love the Bondi 9 shoes but there's not enough grip on the bottom of the soles for correct weight transfer required in a good golf swing. Although not near as comfortable as the Bondi 9, the Stinson 7 does have small "cleats" on the sole of the shoe, particularly on the outside edges where ground stability & grip are of paramount importance. Since HOKA does not make a golf shoe (not yet, anyway....hint, hint) I'm using the Stinson 7 as a substitute for "real" golf shoes. Most golf shoe manufacturers are not as aware as HOKA when it comes to arch support & cushioning for walking over-50 aged golfers. Again, while not perfect (hence, the 4-star review) for golf, the Stinson 7 is better than most golf shoes for walking 18 holes (about 5-6 miles).

I'm still giving a four because this is a great shoe however it is nowhere near as plush as the Stinson 6. I do like the fact that they extended the tongue because that was a major complaint on version 6 but this just is not the same shoe from a cushioning standpoint.

I bought the Stinson 7 at D#### because I could only order the awesome color through them and not on the Hoka website. These shoes do seem to be wider than your typical Hoka, Even though the shoe doesn't come in a wide size. I was pleasantly surprised as I had to give up on Hokas for a couple years. I wore these shoes for 2.5 days in the house and found them to be comfortable! So I started wearing them at work. My feet were a little uncomfortable at my fifth metheads on day 1, but I didn't give it much thought. On day two, my feet were feeling squeezed and my met-heads were painful. The next morning, they were still red. I just found this to be a bit bizarre. I thought it was from the harder trim on the side of the shoe but when I stick my finger in the shoe I felt a pretty flat but slightly ridged (?) seam where my pain was occurring. The seems were located at the whitest part of the shoe where my met heads were located. Today I wore my old and worn shoes from another brand and had no pain. Not sure when I'm going to do! Since I've worn them in and out of work I don't think I can return them but it is a very costly problem to have. My foot is a little bit wider so I wear men's shoes. If you don't have that issue, I do highly recommend these shoes! They appear to be a good quality and generally comfortable, the laces are long enough and don't come undone and the tongue stays in place.

I bought these Stinson 7s for their more rigid forefoot rocker, and aggressive sole. It's one of the few shoes that I don't have to insert carbon or fiberglass inserts under the insoles to keep my big toe from flexing upward with every step. Generally, it seems like a good orthopedic shoe for those that need stabilization in the forefoot area. I went up a half size as well, to accommodate my excessive bone around the 1st metatarsal phalangeal joint. Living in the mountains, I need an aggressive sole for outdoor year round use. They are very comfortable, and if they get more flexible with time, I'll put some inserts in. The only thing that is not ideal for me, is that the tongue is to thin and not stiff. I need to adapt my shoes as slip ons, and this tongue slides down and bunches up when used this way when I insert my foot. I modified this problem with a sewing awl, by sewing the upper tongue to each side of the shoe. Works great.

I like these shoes for me, but unless you're a very large human like myself, you might not like them. They are huge and heavy, it feels like you're wearing low top hiking boots. I use them for hiking/walking on dirt roads and trails, some jogging at times. Not a nimble shoe, and they look a little dorky.

First Hoka’s. Most shoes I’m a 9.5, glad I got a 10 with these. Just right. They are large sneakers. Bulky, but not heavy. Very comfortable. I like them a lot.

From the moment I first put them on, I thought they would be a great shoe to wear day to day. Lightweight and sturdy with good feel underfoot, I was beginning to like them. I put them on the second day, and my knees and ankles begin to hurt as I started walking. I read that this was a stability shoe, but it did not feel like it. In general, it was a good shoe, just not for me.

I purchased these upon a recommendation from my Doctor, who claimed HOKA trail running shoes were the best for over pronation and Plantar Fasciitis. He was right! These shoes have the best support of the many I've tried. (These are better than Brooks-Beast.) However, my Dr was also right when he mentioned their limited life span. I am several weeks into owner ship with a little under 40 walking miles (pavement and sidewalk/concrete) and the bottom soles towards the front-center show significant wear. Probably the quickest wearing sneaker I'ver ever purchased. While I understand the premium price and short lifespan for what is arguably the best-in-class supportive shoe, I'd still like to see improvements made to increase durability without compromising comfort/support.

I had the Stinson 6- most comfortable shoe I ever had. The 7- not sure what but something has changed. Not as comfortable as the previous version.

I have ordered approx. 20 pairs since 2017/18. I have a bad foot, 3 surgeries and Hoka's helped kick my body weight to arch and heal. Have been wearing Stinson's since 2019. I can't run or hike but Hoka's are what I live in indoors and outdoors. Randomly find a color I can make work. Do not like the top heel slip in design, not sure how necessary this is for most. 2017- mid 2023 the heel was better supportin my opinion.

I heard lots of good things from colleuges who have purchased it before me, I've been told that when you wear them, you feel like you're stepping on the clouds, from the level of comfort and long standing. Well, that was not the case for me! I don't say it is not comfortable, but do not expect extra ordinary comfort! Totally depends on your previous experience.

All about this sneaker is true. Comfort, support, and style. Quality materials and construction. Just be careful on your size. Wish I had ordered a half size larger.

I hike from Mexico to Canada every year (pct) and purchase 6 pairs of Stinsons each year (37 pairs to date). Loves: cushioning is spot on. Feels hard at first, perfect after 50 miles, and lasts about 400 miles before becoming too soft. Rocker. Love the way it rolls through the stride. Tread is just about right, could be slightly more aggressive. DISLIKES: nobody's foot is shaped like that. Please, for the love of all creatures big and small, make a foot shaped Stinson, the competition is destroying you with sales of footshaped thru hiking shoes. Additionally: why can't Hoka send shoes to a post office on trail??? No General delivery to a post office?!? I need new shoes every 12 days and with modern technologies, why oh why can't they fix this problem. The new stock insoles are a brutal joke. Just put a piece of paper inside that says "insert insole here"; the old ones were better. Still buying... reluctantly

I have many Stinson's and usually find them comfortable. However, recently they are a bit lighter in weight and do not seem as comfortable. The padding is said to be ample but to me it seems a bit less. Also, for the first time the light shoe is rubbing my toe uncomfortably.

I own the Stinson 6 and 7. Although I prefer the uppers and lacing on the Stinson 6, the midsole and outsole of the 7 is far superior to the 6. The Stinson 6 midsole is so soft it was done in 3 months of just walking. The 7 provides more support and durability. They are both wide for my narrow feet. I purchased a pair of Arahi 7's in a women's 12 to get a stability shoe that was narrow enough, but it does not have near the support of the Stinson 7. Weight in a shoe is irrelevant to me, I need the support and the Stinson 7 has it. Also, the Gaviota 5 is so wide its not even a consideration.

I never had Hoka's make the top of my feet sore, these did. I gave them a rest for a couple of days and they seem to be fine now. I wish Hoka could stay with some of the solid colors they used to have like the Stinson 5 instead of trying to be as wild as they can. But I guess marketing won out. Would be nice to have a combo to satisfy both.

All Hoka shoes that I have bought are so close to being great. Far better than other brands in general. These shoes were so comfortable and checked all of the boxes for me, I wore them mainly to the office and for short walks. Basically never off-road. Then, after 3 weeks, the rubber outsole started peeling and I had to return them. I'm sure I could have glued it back easily but felt that they were too new to be dealing with that.
