Four to five days per week, I power-walk 4 miles. With my Brooks adrenaline GTS I get 4-5
months of wear. I chose this style brooks for the stability. I decided to try the Hoka Gaviota 5. No
change to my walking routine I got 2 months of wear. I am going back to my Brooks. Also, I have
narrow feet. The Hoka felt a little bit too roomy.

Absolutely no cushioning, even though it says the cushioning is plush. It gave me calluses underneath my feet. I walk between 3 to 4.5 miles daily but because of the calluses, had to scale back to 2.5 to 3 miles.

Poor SupportGreat Support
This shoe is advertised as a stability shoe. It has little to zero stability, the H-frame type is no where near supportive as the J-frame The outer material is too flexible and offers no lateral/ankle support. Also, the mid foot stack height is too low for me so I got the feeling my forefoot is touching the ground. Not a good walking shoe, which was my purpose, buy I wouldn't run in this shoe unless you have a very rigid arched foot.

This was my second pair of Gaviota 5s. I still have the first pair, bought last year, and they're still serving as an emergency pair. The new pair began breaking down in just 3 weeks of wear! Noticeably excessive tread wear and separation of the material around one of the shoe lace eyelets, despite the shoes never getting wet. I decided to return them and purchase another pair of Bondi 9s as a replacement. Despite the success of my first pair, I wouldn't be able to recommend this model/style.

They're not as wide as they're made to seem. As much as I despise the durability, the bondi is a better shoe and I would hope more X-wide shoes are made in more styles and colors.

I've had three pairs of the three and my heels and feet hurt again. I wore the gaviota 4 for a long time and they were the best shoes I've ever worn. I run 5k, 10k, and triathlon races and the 5 has been nothing but trouble. I have a friend who runs with me as well and they have been having the exact same problem. The 4 corrected my feet and got rid of any and all foot/knee pain. Hoka switched up the support on the 5 and I've gone backwards. If you liked the 4 for foot/knee support I would not recommend the 5. The change in the support does not help.

The shoes are really nice, but not sure why they are not working out for me but the offer absolutely no comfort for the balls of my foot. My feet hurt really bad after walking for awhile

Sizes are off. 6 was too small (I always take a 6) and 6.5 was way too big.

A very good shoe made from mediocre materials. I am a daily walker and the soles of these shoes leave aa lot to be desired in the way of sturdiness. The tread is wearing down FAST. Very disappointed.

I wear 9 1/2 size shoe and this shoe was very tight and very stable that caused to have pain in calf and hip. I am happy with other HOKA shoes size 9 1/2.

Comfortable shoes so that gets it the 2 stars. Value is poor. Durability doesn't deserve even a poor rating. Soles began to come apart after 2 months of light use. Soles squeak tremendously with any minute presence of liquid even after drying soles on a door mat. Do not recommend at all.

i work a physically demanding job, and am on my feet for 10-12 hours a day. i was did a fitting at fleet feet and these were the winner. they have great arch support, perfect for my wide feet, and i felt a big difference in my knees (which are constantly painful). i was very happy with my purchase, but found they aren't made to last. i had to get new insoles after a few months, and they were falling apart after less than a year of wear. i expected a company so well known/raved about to produce well made shoes, especially for how expensive they are, but i was deeply disappointed to find they aren't. i am not someone that can drop $150-$200 on a pair of shoes (most people can't) every 6 months, or even every year. i was so happy to have found a shoe that checked all my boxes, but definitely won't be purchasing them again due to their shoddy performance.

Shoes themselves are fine. The lace fell apart within a month of purchase. It came completely unraveled. The company will not send a new lace. You can mail in the whole pair of shoes and hope they approve it (they will send back if they don't) or you can buy a new lace. The shoes are too expensive to have any part fall apart.

The toe box on this shoe, even in regular is way to big. I feel like I'm wearing clown shoes. Also the color scheme is different from The picture. I will be returning these expeditiously. I love Hoka, I have purchased 4 pair at this point, but these ain't it. Bring back the 4s!

I have loved the Gaviota 5 in the past. I walk 5-8 mikes a day at work and the shoe holds up to the 6 month mark; then, i purchase another. The Gaviota 5 shoe. I received my last pair about 3 weeks ago, and to much disappoint, , the fit is off. I am a normal width and the Gaviotas in the past, fit snug in the arch and have a nice wider toe space. This pair is not narrow at the arch and I already need to replace them. This pair was not made up to the usual PAR of Gaviotas 5.. Not sure If would recommend for the money Hoka's cost.

I love my HOKA's and have worn Arahi and Bondi for years but I thought I would try the shoe that was best for my feet. I bit the bullet on price and ordered Gaviota 5. The toe box is HUGE! I double checked to make sure they weren't wide but they are size B which should be perfect for me. It's a sloppy feel and just isn't going to work so they are being returned. The Bondi which I love have added so much rubber width to the sole I have a tendency to trip over them. So now what shoe do I pick that has that great toe room but not so much rubber in the sole? Arahi has been a go to in the past but reviews suggest the toe box is smaller. Clifton's in the past have too narrow toe box. I'm stuck.

I have had Gaviotas for years and loved them. For some inexplicable reason, some fool decided to make the toebox of the Gaviota 5 so big they look like clown shoes. Why. These are supposed to provide support, why on earth would they make a big floppy front for our feet to float around in?! Iclearly can't wear these, and I thought about getting Arahis instead, which aren't as good for my foot problems, but what can I do. But I just read reviews on the new Arahis, and there are endless complaints about those now, too. Who did this? I now have to choose between wide lollipop Gaviotas or the Arahi, which apparently is crazy narrow and hard now, among other problems. Unfortunately, I'm probably going to have to go to the trouble of returning these and go to another brand altogether. Very disappointing.

My feet are flat, especially my right foot. The edge of the insoles are rough and rubbed my arch so much that 1/3 of the way into a 1 mile walk I was in pain. I don't have this problem with Brooks Adrenaline GTS or the Glycerin GTS. The cushion was great, but not worth the pain. I do think these shoes will work great for my husband who has lovely arches.

They say their shoes are supportive. The pair i just bought FROM HOKA have an upper that is thin and flimsy, far from supportive. The midsole collapsed after TWO FLIPPING WEEKS
HOKA has cheapened and sold out

First week or two was great, though I do not like how the toe was roomier. 2 weeks later and I am hating the shoe!! My left hip and knee are killing me when wearing them, few hours out of them I am fine. Try again and the pain comes right back. I cannot return them to the store because they have been used, I cannot afford another pair right now as my husband has glioblastoma brain cancer so I am stuck!
