I suffer from a bulging disc in my back which affects the left leg. After getting back on my feet all my shoes were uncomfortable. I had read that Hoka shoes were extremely comfortable. I purchased a pair and yes as the title says the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned.

The new sole makes these shoes the most comfortable from thr previous generations. Don't like how HOKA name is blasted onto the side of the shoes aesthetically. Also I wear Wide and they never put the premier colors on the Wide. But love the show. It's my all day sneaker. Long walks and just hanging out.

After wearing many Bondi shoes in medium width, I bought this Gaviota shoe in wide and it fits perfectly! The medium-width Bondi shoes I've owned all have a seam that runs across the outside edge of each foot and caused sores. So I opted for a wide width with these new Gaviotas and I love the way they fit and feel.

I have truly had a love hate relationship with Hoka, mostly hate but I want to love. I have tried more pairs of Hokas and returned than I can count.
I have a wide foot and even though Hoka offers wide (Clifton, Speedgoat, Challenger, Gaviota and Arahi) and extra wide (Bondi) it really has never been a wide, at least in comparing to other brands out there and it has always been to narrow.
Enter the new Gaviota 5.
Finally, I repeat, Finally, Hoka has offered a wide that is truly a wide. You have made the forefoot rounder and wider right from the start, which has really helped in the wide truly being wide.
Sizing is great, width is perfect and the upper feels superb. I really couldn't ask for a better offering in this shoe. Maybe offer some more color options in wide.
This will not be my only pair of Gaviota 5's.
Now that you have offered this, please offer it with your other shoes out there, I think you have really dialed this in, and it would be a shame to stop here and make this your only good wide offering.

The Gaviota are incredible and maintain the cushioning and support ALL day for this RN for a 12+ hour shift on my feet. They do this amazing thing of supporting the heel when I step and magically displace the pressure throughout the whole shoe. My feet, calves, knees and hips felt amazing at the end of the shift for the first time in forever. When I took the shoes off, it was like the padding in my foot was totally intact when it normally feels completed mashed and flat. My legs did not hurt at all when I took them off. LOVE these!

I have 4 Altra models because they are one of the only companies that make shoes shaped like human feet. But I personally prefer Hokas both for their look as well as support and cushioning. I probably have 8 that I rotate in and out of. In fact I ordered the Gaviota 5 from the web site this morning and also bought a pair at a local store. I would give this shoe 10 stars if I could.
An issue I've had with Hokas is that most are narrow in their standard width. So I buy the wide (2EE) versions. I have Clifton 8s, Bondi 7, Arahi 5 & 6 (the pinnacle of the Hoka line for me), & Gaviota 4, all in wides though my feet measure a solid medium D width. All are in my regular size of 11.5, which I've worn in almost all shoes except for the Gaviota 4. Even in the 2EE width that shoe did not feel right on my feet so I exchanged for a 12 which has worked well.
This Gaviota 5 is a revelation for me. It actually has a real foot shape that fans of Altra shoes will immediately notice. It's not obvious from images on the web site but once in hand you will see that wider forefoot. I wore my Gaviota 4s to the shoe store to give a direct comparison & I was able to get my normal 11.5 size, still a 2EE wide, and was immediately pleased. There is a little more cushioning than the 4 but still with good support. Stability is very important for me, that is why the Arahis have been my favorites with the Gaviota 4 having a similar underfoot feel. The 5 is a bit softer but still has that balanced well grounded feel. More heavily cushioned Hokas sometimes have me feeling a little wobbly unless I'm really pounding on a walk. For those who have wished for something similar to an Altra but with Hoka structure & design you should be very happy with these. The only downside is that color choice is quite limited in the wides.

I am a Tennis player. Due to an injury in my ankle I have had to wear only running shoes to avoid impact while I recover. I found very good reviews of the HOKA Gaviota an Bondi and bought them. It has been the best decision, they are cushioned and confortable to wear. They are providing the exact result that was suggested by de doctor.

I struggle to find shoes that don't "squeeze" my forefoot. This fit the bill. Most shoes, even other 2E sizes, still feel like a python on the outside edge and top of my forefoot either immediately or soon after wearing for brief periods.
I'm not much of a runner, primarily use these for standing /
walking in a hospital environment. I also use for brisk treadmill walking. The Gaviota 5 work great for both. The forefoot sizing and just the right amount of cushioning.

These are the most comfortable shoes I ever owned truly the best product out there. I was in the hospital for a week and I noticed eight out of 10 nurses wear them when I ask them why they told me they were the most comfortable shoes out there and I bought a pair and they were right if you love your feet, you would love this shoe.

The fit, cushion, and comfort are fantastic. The widened sole provides people with wide feet the ability to enjoy a very comfortable "ride in the clouds"!

Finally! The Gaviota I have known & loved is back in its original design!! Thank you!
Interestingly enough, the Gaviota 5 is +1" longer than the Gaviota 3 (I skipped the Gaviota 4 as the sole was waaaaay too stiff!). I typically wear an 8.5 wide & had to exchange for an 8.

I wear my Gaviota 5's all day everyday as I work on my feet in the medical field. I am not much into spending money, and so my wife calls me cheap, but the money I pay for my Hoka's is definitely worth it and I view it as an investment in my foot health!

I have owned and enjoyed the 2 previous versions of the Gaviota shoe, but this new 5 is the absolute best!! I have very flat feet and need support/stability and this truly delivers it all along with a bit more room in the toe box!! I've read several recent reviews were several saying they are highly disappointed?? I walk a lot and this version has more cushion and truly feels like I'm walking on a cloud. Give these a try, especially if your like me a person with flat feet looking for some comfort and support! Lastly, these feel true to size!

Soooo, it seems the toe box is no longer stupidly narrow and weirdly shaped. Muuuch wider fit, Muuuch better upper. New hotness H-Frame has far better stability than old-and-busted J-Frame. Never have I felt more stability from a shoe, ever. The nagnagnag biteybitebite of my sciatica is gone. Nada. Amazing! New midsole has the cushycushcush of tha Bondi, P-to-tha-LUSH! Not too much softness to compromise stability, but waaay more than needed to eliminate back, knee, neck pain from impact. Looks closer to a Bondi, less like, well the G3 and G4, um, let's leave it at they have great personalities. (The non-curbside appeal of that midsole must have been something before electricity.) But now this G5 is sexy-adjacent, with an even cuter personality! No, the shoes stay on. That'll do, Hoka. That'll do. Well done. Respect. And thank you for getting it riiight!

i have flat feet and over pronate. top notch comfort and stability. it doesn't have the J frame that the previous gaviota 4 had, it now has an H frame which works great. Also, lower back pain gone. highly recommend!
