The first gen Anacapas were great. Very good cushioning. These are terrible. Poor cushion that left my heels bruised and sore after one excursion. The sugar cane material is the same as used in Uggs, also a Deckers company. I verified this with the company. Uggs offer horrible cushioning. There is no rebound. Please save your feet and avoid buying this product. Even Hoka doesn't want it back.

Be careful with these shoes. The lace hooks are very big, my lace from the tie on my right foot got caught in the hook from my left foot. I took 8-10 very short steps, I was coming downhill, stopping was not an option. Luckily it let go after the very fast baby steps.

The shoes I received were not the shoes that I ordered. The box was correct with the correct picture and size on the box, but the shoes inside the box were the wrong color and a full size larger (10.5). Unfortunately, this is the 2nd time this has happened and had to be returned. I'm hesitant to order from Zappos again based on the apparent lack of quality control.

I wear a women's 9W and per the chat with Hoka, they said this would be the size for me. Waaaay too narrow. Am returning and am at a loss now what to get. I already own a women's 9W in the Clifton 9 and love it. Have owned for a year and it's wearing out. Loved it so much wanted to try a hiking boot, but am very sad this one is too narrow.

I cannot express how uncomfortable these shoes are. I am a mailman with a recent back surgery and a walking route of about 11 miles with a lot of hills in the PNW - so waterproof, comfortable, and durable shoes are essential in performing my daily duties. I was so excited when I purchased these because I have never heard anything but amazing things about the Hoka brand. Due to the sheer amount of walking and stress we mail men and women put on our shoes we generally go through 2-4 pairs a year. Thus, I have tried almost every brand you can imagine. In hopes of finding a pair to last me possibly 8 months to a year I was willing to look elsewhere and spend a little bit more and on paper this shoe seemed to have everything I needed. I was so excited for them to arrive! When they finally did and I put them on it was apparent from the very beginning at the very least they would nee a lot of breaking in. They were rigid and unforgiving. The inner sole was not only uncomfortable it felt like I was standing barefoot on concrete. There was (and I can't stress this enough) NO give. No cushion. No comfort. After a full days work and 11.3 miles of wearing them they never broke in. They never got better. They just made every step of my day more miserable than the last. My feet were in such agony that I had to go home early the next day.
Rather than give these another shot I went back to wearing the Nikes with holes developing in the bottom of both shoes rather than return my feet to the Anacapa 2. The fact they charge $ 195 for this shoe should be considered fraud. I say this in jest but really, it's such an outrageous price for a terrible shoe. I wouldn't pay a single dollar for them knowing what I know now. Do yourself a favor. Don't drink the Hoka kool-aid. Maybe walking and running shoes are more this brands bag, because they obviously haven't figured out the waterproof, durable, hiking part.

What the shoes are good faith because I have a pair of hoka walkers that I'm satisfied with. Shoe has no padding and is narrow as can be . . . Hurting my feet to wear them. I go to return them and see the fine print that says if I used firm to buy them, they're not returnable. What a rip off! This is my last pair of Hokas I'll ever buy, for sure!

I purchased this boot from Kathmandu after previously owning a Hoka Speedgoat mid. Unlike the speedgoats these boots are very firm underfoot, there is virtually no detectable "plushness". The toe box is tiny and caused my little toe to blister terribly due to being crammed against the side of the boot. The inner sole is poorly designed and creates a harsh point of friction between the inside edge of the inner sole and the inside of the boot. This led to huge blisters forming within 6kms of hiking . As someone who has hiked for 20 + years without blisters this was fairly shocking. These boots have been put aside for short walks only.
The positives- appear to be fairly durable for a lightweight boot. The waterproof lining is effective.

I bought these shoes for a hiking trip. I have never had Achilles pain before, and after wearing these shoes on a few times , I can barely walk and it feels like my heel is on fire. I've been leaving them home and walking in my sandals, it hurts much less then wearing the shoes.
Also, the toe is already starting to peel, I've owned them for under a month.
Overall really disappointing and wish I never purchased these shoes.

I've hiked in New Balance trail runners for years. These left 1"x 1/2" blisters on the interior of both feet, matching spots. New, clean merino sock's. Back they go.

Most uncomfortable boot I have ever own. I am a nurse and I like to wear hiking boots to work. The first 3-4 days this boot was awesome. Now it hurts just to put them on. Left boot Feels like my foot is falling over the side of the shoes and hurts the heel. I don’t use the middle hook for shoelaces because it hurts the top of the foot if I see a homeless guy with a size 15 I will give him these boots

After just two hiking trips, the soles of the boots were falling off. Hoka Customer Service said this was "normal wear and tear" and refused to refund or exchange them. A total waste of money.

I have tried repetitively different models of Hoka to find one comfortable for my feet. The Anacapa 2 GTX Mids were just not it, ah-gain. These are well-made shoes but there is something about the geometry of the Hoka's that is both too narrow and flat footed. I'm supernated (feet roll outward, wear down outside of sole) but the shoe wants to force my feet in the opposite direction thus squeezing my little toes with each step. It became annoying and then uncomfortable. Moreover, the soles hit the ground rather flat with a semi-jolt and slapping sound. My wife, on the other hand, has a pair of Hokas and loves them. Go figure.

I'm going to return the boots. They are to wide in the toe side and very tight or narrow in the middle, l feel the stitches and there is not way to adjust.

So, I bought these for work in law enforcement that requires long hours on feet. The reputation from hospital staff about the comfort for standing long hours was not true for this specific model. Would not recommend this for long hours on your feet.

I don't have wide feet. I do not need wide size shoes. These shoes fit well except at the toes. Hoka is still old school; they won't adopt a wide toe box for shoes. I bought these shoes because on the pictures it looks like they have a wide toe box. They do not. Returned the shoes. Excellent customer service.

The eyelets at the top of ankles are raw unpadded metal and dig into you. There is either a significant design or manufacturing failure. The ones I bought were unwearable!!

WORST HOKA SHOE I'VE PURCHASED. EVEN THOUGH THE SHOE WAS 11.5 IT WAS STILL TOO NARROW AND HAD NUMEROUS "HOT SPOTS" IN THE HEAL AND ARCH'S IN BOTH SHOES. NEED A WIDER SHOE ESPECIALLY FOR MEN WHO BUY THAT SIZE. SADLY I HAVE A PERFECT HOKA BOOT THAT HAS SEEN IT'S FAIR AMOUNT OF DAYS ON THE TRAIL BUT IS REACHING IT'S DX DATE. THEY DECIDED TO DISCONTINUE THAT MODEL. WILL BE SECOND BOOT RETURNED BECAUSE OF SHOE DESIGN.

I had returned a pair of shoes, because the hooks at the top of the shoe were shredding the laces. It seems like that issue has been resolved in this replacement pair. However, I feel like this replacement pair is not as water resistant, or as warm as the last pair of shoes that I had, even though I thought they were the same.
