Very durable fabric. Excellent utility jacket with useful large pockets. Great for layering allowing use in a wide range of temperatures. Coats with more insulation would be better if a single jacket is desired for colder weather.

Nice fitting light rain resistant. Lovely color. Nice in the eye. If I could change one thing it would be the inner lining color... It should be the same as the outer color.

Solid & strong construction on this jacket. Nice color and fit. 'Hand' pockets are a tad too high to be totally comfortable though. Otherwise a great buy!

Very stylish, comfortable jacket that's perfect during the transition from Fall weather to Winter. The only problem I have is the fit at the waist, but that's more my problem with my belly than the design of the jacket. All in all, a very good value for a well made jacket.

I was disappointed that this jacket did not have a retractable or removable HOOD! Wearing the jacket with the hood hanging out is annoying and unattractive.
Bean's current choice of colors, patterns, materials and designs are disappointing compared to the past 100 years of the traditional LL Bean look.

It's a nice jacket, but I ordered too big so I can't give judgment It came as advertised.

This would have been a terrific jacket except that it wasn't truly a "tall" size. The sleeves were at least 1" too short and the jacket length was at least 2" too short. Otherwise my husband would've loved this.

Interesting! I just posted a less than sterling review of the Mountain Classic Jacket, including several specific details where I feel the jacket warranted criticism. The review was rejected as violating review "guidelines". The review included no profanity, suspicious links, etc, as prohibited by the published guidelines. Perhaps only glowing, positive reviews are allowed? I did give the jacket three stars, but it still feel a bit less than fully enthusiastic about it. It's not a washout. It just could have been better.

I sent the jacket back. It was certainly of good quality but not my style. There was no inside pocket, and the hood could not be removed.

It's a decent rain jacket but it's too short. It'd be great if it were two inches longer. It provides zero warmth.

Wish it was more substantial, shell is thin though very water repellent. The lining is thin 94% polyester and 6% wool. If it was thicker it could be more than a spring raincoat

The shell works well in the rain, though it seems thin. Have to see how it holds up long-term. The lining is 94% polyester, wish it had more wool content. Other then that it's a nice jacket

Not the usual fit I expect from LLBean. I am a large man and for years 2XL Traditional Fit has worked well for me, but this jacket in 2XL was too tight for me.

Typical of LL Bean products this is a well made coat, but in temperatures under 50 degrees it offers very little warmth. That was my major disappointment.

Bought this jacket for my husband. The body fits OK, but the hood is too big (and he has a big head). Being able to adjust the depth of the hood would be an improvement as would at least a little insulation in the body. So only 3 stars, folks.

Stiff, noisy and uncomfortable. This was indeed my least favorite purchase from Bean

I really hate when a quality garment sacrifices practicality to fashion by shortening the length of the jacket. Cut a little bit tight as well.

This jacket was disappointing because it could so easily be better. The design, similar to an Army field jacket, is great. Plenty of pockets, all in the right places, Bean Boot laces on the zipper pulls, inside waist drawcord, and hood. The execution? Not so much. It;s a lightweight jacket, but the flannel only lines part of it and it's a very thin flannel, not up to Bean quality, and the jacket provides very little warmth, even on a cool Spring day. It also doesn't breathe, which means that as your body heat builds up, you start to sweat. I expected so much more from Bean. Will look elsewhere in the future.

Does not keep you warm. Garment crackles when moving. Outer material is plastic, not fabric. Only lining is thin flannel in the body of the coat. No lining in the sleeves, just plastic. Very disappointed. Item returned.

I wasn't expecting down or wool lining for the price, but I did expect at least some lining. Empty dream: it's a shell only. Best for covering inanimate objects. Returned.

The jacket was way too small for XXL. It was very tight in the shoulders and across the chest. Insulation was very thin. It felt like a windbreaker instead of a parka. (I bought it to replace my 30-year old Baxter State parka!) Hope I can find a better replacement.

A cheap Vietnamize imitation of coat I purchased years ago that wore out.

Obviously, L.L. Bean has changed with these young people who have no responsibility at all. This jacket isn't even close to being useful. It is way too small even in tall more disappointment won't come back to L.L. Bean.
