Great jacket! I really enjoy the length and all the pockets. The fit is good, leaving enough room for a mid layer, but yet not too loose. It is especially nice for early fall days. I haven't worn it on wet days, so I can't comment on whether it sheds moisture.

Very functional. Warm and water repellent. I wanted a jacket for my trip out west this Fall and this will fit the bill. Perfect for cooler weather.

Really like the color and the drawstring waist. It was shorter and lighter than expected. It was my first L.L. Bean purchase and the Extra-Large was a bit snug so I will "size-up" on future orders. No problem. I will donate to the local homeless shelter. I'm sure it will fit someone down there and they will appreciate it and put it to good use.

My husband is very enthusiastic about his birthday gift. Perfect for fall in the mountains into winter.

Classic profile and fit and quality construction. I'm not an outdoorsman but found the style irresistible. One of the coolest coats I own.

Pros - fits good, light weight, rain jacket
Cons - breast pocket small, no inside pocket, listing says "Two chest pockets with velcro top entry" but there is only one, the other is small and has vertical zip entry, the front pockets are patch pockets with no bellows so anything put in will cause pockets to bulge out, waist drawcord is half way between waist and shoulder, very thin lining so not much warmth.

I love everything about this jacket except for its proportions. I ordered a 3XLT, which is my go-to size for all L.L. Bean tops. The jacket is too tight in the shoulders and the chest, but much too long in the arms. (And I wear long-sleeved shirts that are 37".)

This is a nicely made and designed jacket, but for my body type, it didn't work. I ordered my usual Medium, and tried it on over a base layer, a thermal shirt, and a medium-weight fleece. It fit huge, but the chest and shoulders were a little tight, and the sleeves were short. And while I really wanted a waist drawstring, it sat weirdly high, like across the bottom of my rib cage. This jacket probably fits a lot of people, and it is nicely put together, but it wasn't for me.
A note for sensitive folks: It also smelled strongly of perfume, or disinfectant, or air freshener, or something. This is increasingly common with mail-ordered goods, and it was disappointing from Bean. Even if it had fit perfectly, I would have returned it.

The jacket is great in every way, except that it could have a bit insulation quality.

Nice but it lacks a good internal zippered pocket.

my only complaint is the Velcro on the pockets, woolen gloves stick on it.

good in town fall jacket, gives just enough warmth when its mild outside, like 50 F. My only request would be if the front pockets could be a little bit larger. I store a ski cap and gloves in the pockets.

I've only worn it once or twice since I received it back on 10/06 but each time it did exactly what I wanted it to do: make me look stylish in that '60-'70s army surplus field jacket hippie kinda way, and, stay on my torso without falling off. Yay! Far out!

I needed a replacement for my discontinued 10 year old Trail Model Rain Jacket and this is the nearest I could find even after contacting customer service. It's superior to my old jacket in many ways, i.e., the sleeves are lined for easy on/off. However, I was disappointed to learn that this jacket doesn't have an internal zippered pocket to secure wallet/cellphone. I suppose the next version may include this feature. I do like the fit and quality.

I am glad Bean brought this one back! I wish it had a more substantial (warmer) lining and the upper pockets were just a half inch taller. I had a 1982 version with wool lining. It was good for much of the year where I live in California and warm enough for winter back east with an intermediate layer. This one has room for another layer, but having the lining be wool would make it better. I like the vertical zipper on the left chest pocket, but another half inch taller on both upper pockets would bring this to 5-star performance.

good fit and workmanship. Inner sleeve liners a little long, almost reach halfway down cuffs when putting on the jacket. Rather that than not enough, though! Worked well in light rain.

Jacket is fine quality, usual Bean product. But 'body girth' of coat is tight--slim-fit rather than normal US body allowance. Not so comfortable, esp if you have any bulk shirting on. Don't care for hood lining--military camaflouge motif. Not sure I'd purchase again.

I'm loving this jacket. With a fleece layer it is quite good for casual wear in cold temps. It is wind resistant, water repellent, and the hood is snug. It is a bit "fitted" in cut so not bulky. The pockets are great with one exception, and but for this I'd give it 5 stars...the regular side pockets are shallow so my gloves fall out too easily. The front Velcro flap pockets I guess are for this purpose.

The jacket is Amazing! With that said, I would recommend a couple of changes. Increase the thickness of the lining in the body and hood. Also, currently, the bottom pockets for your hands have zero lining. That was a mistake. If it wasn't for these oversights, the jacket would be absolutely perfect.

I like this jacket a lot. My only criticism is that the lightweight insulation is a little too lightweight. I have a short brown jacket made similarly, but that one is very warm in cold weather. This one is good for November, early December, late February and March.

Nice Jacket. Fits small. Material does not seem up to LL Bean quality but does repel weather nicely.

Looks great. Consider buying a tall size for best appearance. I appreciate the two way zipper.
