Material for the sole is a plastic but makes cleaning bottom of shoes very easy. Sole def helps with putting more support for your ankles and helps with posture. But best thing about this shoe is the ankle tongue. It gives support to the back of your heel, which they ended up taking out of their new stan smith's.
