I have bought two of the scarfs so far, one as a gift and one for myself. They are quality scarves made of 100% wool. I do think they make great gifts but wish they were a little wider. In fact I would be willing to give up a little in the 71" length if that meant it could be added to the 12" width. That is the only reason I knocked it down a star.

Purchased the cream red plaid from last season. Warm and perfect length for a classic loop. I like that the scarf is made in Ireland of 100% lambswool. Unlike merino wool or cashmere, my neck was itchy from scarf due to sensitive skin. However, I like it too much to return. Hope the lambswool will get softer over time.

This is overall a good scarf. Good/normal size, plus it's definitely wool! As completely wool items, it does have that slightly rough texture. The saddle plaid pattern looks very Burberry. Having it be from Ireland is a cool touch too! It's a pretty solid staple!

This is a beautiful, well-made item, and if I wore it outside my coat it would be fine. But I wear scarves inside my coat, and this was just too scratchy to wear around my neck. I returned it.

Only a slight woolly-itch factor however the design is gorgeous, the colors are deep and beautiful, the fabric is nice and heavy, the wool is VERY warm and the scarf is long. This is my favorite scarf and I can count on it during the hard, wet cold winter months. Perfect with a TURTLENECK to protect my fragile overly-sensitive girl skin.

I really like the length, longer than usual, but I would like it to be softer (I have very sensitive skin...probably would not be an issue for most folks).

I just received my scarf in the mail, and I am so happy with it! The length is perfect for wrapping, and the quality seems to be excellent. True, it's not the softest scarf out there, but hey, it's wool! I can tell it will be warm! The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because Royal Stewart (the color that I got) has been discontinued! It would have made an excellent gift, but now it's unavailable. I don't understand why L.L. Bean would discontinue something that's so popular that it sells out. I am so incredibly happy that I was able to get a scarf in Royal Stewart before it sold out, though! I will definitely be wearing this scarf to church this Sunday--it's supposed to be 6 degrees with a -24 wind chill! Thank you, L.L. Bean for making good, warm clothing!!

This scarf is perfect for cold winter weather. The wool is not too scratchy, but is super warm. The only thing I wish was different is the overall length. It's a little too short for my usual preference, but will still work and will definitely be used this winter. Overall very pleased with this purchase.

This scarf pretty much lives up to its description. The scarf is warm, soft and the colors are beautiful. It is quite itchy though.

Gave this scarf to my grand-daughter. She loved it. Put it on as soon as she took it out of the box.

This is great scarf, light weight but feels cozy and warm. However, the orange in the one I ordered was too bright and definitely orange. On-line, it appeared to be a coral. The one I wanted, more gray and plum, was labeled on-line "not available till November 21". However, it was then marked "Sold out" when I tried to buy it November 11?? Did it appear in stores and sold out from there?

Soft (not like cashmere, but not cheap and scratchy) and warm, attractive, and a good length, this is a good basic scarf. The colors are a bit more brownish than reddish as in the photo, but otherwise no complaints.

This scarf is stunning. I love the colour combination. It is soft as well. I do wish however, that it was a bit longer, I like longer scarves. But at least I can still wrap it around my neck. It is a preference so perhaps not everyone would feel the same way as I do regarding the length.

This scarf is not quite as dark as it appears online. It is lovely and a good price for the quality.

Scarf was a nice weight and warm however the wool fabric was very scratchy and irritating to my wife's skin.

Nice looking, but a little scratchy. I was hoping for a softer scarf with a more supple feel.

I had been eyeing this scarf (specifically in Antique Dress Stewart) for over a year and finally took the plunge. Unfortunately the scarf was too itchy for me. The tan is slightly darker in person - I was hoping for more of a lighter tan as depicted online. The size of the scarf was perfect though.

Nice but. I only wore it once, for a SHORT time and it started to pill and shed. Disappointed.

Kind of disappointed that the antique dress stewart scarf is more beige/brown than it is ivory like in the pic. It's also not soft and a bit scratchy. Not sure if I will keep it.

Colors not the same as shown. But goes just OK with the coat, so keeping.
LLB seems to have problems with colors, sizes etc.
I refuse to buy men's clothing any more because of this and am dubious about buying anything else.
Fix your problems.

I was so excited to order the Molten Red Lambswool Scarf, because every time I looked it was sold out. It finally arrived and I was so disappointed with the color. The colors online appeared so much more muted, the blueish color looked so pretty. When I received it the red was very red and the other colors were just drab. For the price and the fact that it was on the itchy side it went back. I wish LLBean could be more accurate with their colors online vs. what they really look like in person. This is the second time I've ordered something recently that I've been disappointed in the coloring. I fell in love with the color of this scarf online only for it not to be so.

This is a very nice scarf and I ordered it as a gift for my wife. It wasn't the color I wanted but I gave it a shot anyway. Unfortunately, I had to return it. My wife didn't like the color either. She liked the color I originally wanted. I am a loyal L.L. Bean customer and will remain so in the future due to the high quality of the products, ease of shopping, and great customer service. My problem is simple. Year after year L.L. Bean has run out of at least one of the specific items (i.e. color and size, etc.) that I have selected in and around the Holidays. So I have had to make an alternate choice that I end up returning and waiting until it is restocked. I realize that these items must have been very popular and that's why they were out of stock. But if they were so popular, why didn't L.L. Bean's own research know this and cause them to stock heavier?

The colors are beautiful, and will go with the wool coat I also ordered from LL Bean. Although I haven't had a chance to wear it yet, I believe it will keep me warm. The only complaint I have is it is a very itchy material to go against the skin, I am going to try to dry clean it before wearing. I hope this will soften it up if not I am unsure I will be able to use it as planned

The size and colors of this scarf were nice but it wasn't as soft as I expected. I don't have sensitive skin yet I found it a bit stiff and scratchy. There are lots of good quality scarves at that price that are softer. Also the "dry clean only" adds to the expense.
