Only had for first 2 weeks of school and the stitching is falling apart at the shoulder strap. Need to replace asap. This was hopefully going to last for the 4 years of high school but it doesn't look like it's going to make it through the first month.

The strap already broke. I used it once. I wish I could return it as this isn't even built for minimal use.

I was swayed into buying this item with a false sense of Quality and long life. After only 5 months of use by my 9 yr old Daughter, carrying a chrome book the handle fell off. 2 months later the strap holding the front pocket fell off. Now the inside pocket is coming apart. I spent $99 thinking I would not need to purchase a new pack for a couple years. WRONG! Im a Single Mom and wasted 6 hrs of pay to purchase this!

Had to replace 2 within the year since the should straps started fraying. Fortunately LLBean's replacement policy was easy and hassle free since I had proofs of purchase and they were within the year

This was a replacement backpack that my daughter has only had a few weeks. It is already ripping in the same place that the original backpack did.

I ordered two of these backpacks for my kids, one black and one in the Spruce color, and both of them began to come apart at the top where the carrying straps meet the bag. Thought it was just a fluke with the first bag we received and had a replacement sent but the same thing began to happen to the 2nd bag and just started the return process of that bag too. So unlike the other backpacks that we have purchased from LL Bean which are years old and still going strong. Kiddos are just older and wanted a new style but sadly they are not the same quality as we've come to expect. Crazy thing is they carried more weight in their older backpacks with no problem.

Strap broke within a week of normal use by my middle school son. I'd look elsewhere.

My son has not carried this bag for more than a few weeks and one of the straps is fraying. This is not the quality that I am used to getting from llbean.

My old 42L backpack was designed beautifully with more zippered compartments, including a roomy one underneath. Why did you change it?

Quality is not there. After a couple weeks use, the hanging strap has completely torn off, and the back strap on one side is starting to tear too.

The handle began breaking in the first month. I was very disappointed as this is not the llbean quality I know and have grown up with.

I purchased this backpack for my kid to use for middle school. The handle on the top almost came off for about 2 weeks of using it. I cannot believe that they sell low quality product for $99.

Top handle pulling off after only one day of use. I can't believe I have to go to the trouble of returning such an expensive bag so soon after purchase. LLBean bags used to last forever. (And beware: return shipping is at your own expense, even if the item is defective.)

My son has only used the backback for 3 days and the stitching on the top strap is coming apart to the point where the strap is about to fall off. Not the level of quality I would expect from LL Bean. My son is super disappointed because he likes the bag otherwise...

Purchased this backpack and this is the top loop on the SECOND day of school, which is today. The backpack contains 3 one-inch binders with paper, and three folders with paper. I paid with tax over $100 for this backpack, and regret my purchase. Buyer beware.

My well-worn, world-traveled, and daily-used LL Bean backpack finally gave up the ghost after four years. Unfortunately, the model I had is no longer available, which sucks because that thing was perfect. It was essentially this one https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/83531?page=super-deluxe-book-pack&bc=50-816&feat=816-GN1&csp=f&gnrefine=1*CPCTY_RNG*Large%20(31%20to%2060%20Liters)&pos=2, but with the addition of a large shoe compartment on the bottom (perfect for a collapsible umbrella, windbreaker, and gym clothes). So, I got this thing. Point in it's favor: it's really comfortable, and appears well made. Aside from that, it stinks at keeping things compartmented and organized.
I'll use it for a little while and see if it grows on me, but I can easily see me getting something else, and handing this one down to relatives.
