I am a yacht broker and have been giving embroidered L.L. Bean Boat and Tote bags to clients after they buy a new boat from me for years now. They are always a big hit and the high quality of these bags means they will last for years. I've personally used them for over 20 years and they wear very well.

I buy one of these bags for myself every year - - have 3 different sizes, so far. This year I decided to splurge and spend and extra $10. to buy the bag with the zipper top. L O V E it! Really durable, easy to use - straps over shoulder or otherwise. (I buy the longer straps) This particular bag is terrific for carrying on a plane. It fits perfectly in the overhead compartment OR will slide directly under the seat in front by your feet. Nice! Highly recommend any version of this bag. (have used one of these bags since 2006 and it's still working well, albeit a bit soiled now.)

I received this bag as a gift eight years ago...and it is still going strong! I use it for carrying everything: groceries, toys to park, library books, picnic things. My toddler loves sitting in it, reading books! HA! I've found the large to be the perfect size for my needs (filled full of groceries, it can be heavy, but is manageable for me and saves me trips into the house!), and I love the long straps. I can wear it over my shoulder, carry it at my side, or with the zip-top closed, I've even carried it like a backpack! I bought a second one six years ago - one has a zipper and one does not - and prefer the zipper to be there in case I'd like to close it. When I'm not using the zippered closure, it all folds down inside and doesn't interfere at all. I've also chose to have a single monogram on the outside and it's the perfect size: not too small, not too large. I LOVE THEM! Perfect to have at home and give as gifts.

I've had other boat and totes, the open top, the leather handle open top but never the zip top. I've loved each of them. They are durable, cute and you can use them for everything. I decided to buy the zip top, a large one each for my family for trips, outings, etc. Red for my husband, green for my son, pink (back ordered till March, sad face) for my daughter and I had wanted yellow for myself but I'm not seeing yellow, not even in the custom tote. I've known you to have yellow before. Please bring back the yellow soon. I've already received the green and red one, they are perfect. Can't wait till the pink comes in March. Hoping yellow becomes a choice sometime between now and March otherwise I guess I'll get a navy one to match my leather handled one.

What can you say that hasn't been said about these bags? I have used them for years, they last forever and look great. This was purchased as a gift, the monogram came out perfectly and really makes the bag distinctive. You can't go wrong with this bag, the zipper top is especially useful.

Large tote bag, super strength material, well constructed, that should hold up for many, many years. Well placed handles (that are red on 1 side, white on the top side,) for such a large bag. The bag sides stands up so you can drop things into it easily. Excellent seam stitching Nice bright color.

I first ordered a custom XL Tote a few years ago to bring on trips. When I got it I wasn't complete 100% satisfied with the stitching and the finish so I returned it even though it was monogrammed. I actually downsized and got a Large tote exactly the same design. I also didn't initially like the fact that the zipper was the natural color, I thought it would've been black to match the top. It's not a big deal now. I'm glad I ordered it with the outside pocket, longer handle and a zipper top. I use the outside pocket and the longer handles help it put it over the shoulder, especially when you're on the go. If you're going to use it as a travel bag I would definitely recommend getting the zipper top. I've taken it on a few overseas trips and many weekend excursions and it's been holding up great. I like that I can just throw anything in there when traveling. I'll have this bag for years to come. I'm going to order a non custom bag or two to bring to the grocery and farmer markets.

Just what it is supposed to be: functional, strong, well-made, and durable.

I got this tote to use in the grocery store instead of using disposable bags. I put everything in it. A gallon of milk, cans of soup etc.. It holds it all without falling a part.

I got the medium tote for my friends that came from Japan and she loved it!

I recently purchased my eighth Boat and Tote Bag for me and have given many of them as gifts. I use them for everything. They are my purse on a daily basis as well as my go-to travel bag, and when they are completely worn out (after MANY years of use) I use them outside for taking tools to the garden, storing such things as plant stakes, and carrying sprinkler repair parts to outer areas of the yard. I have both zip top and no zip, but for traveling I especially like the zip-top because once zipped the bag can be shoved under an airplane seat with no chance of anything falling out, and it seems more secure when being carried around an airport since the top is closed. I have been approached in a number of airports with, "Is that an LL Bean bag?" Everyone who has mentioned it says how wonderful those bags are and how much they love theirs. By the way, I wash mine, although I have heard not to. I put it in the sink with warm soapy water, scrub it with a soft brush, rinse well, reshape, let dry and I am set to go. Simply the best!

Use these zippered canvas bags in several sizes for gigging as a musician to contain cables, tape and repair tools, and other miscelaneous items. Great for beach or sailing and car-camping trips.

This is an amazing tote bag! I bought the large with the long handles. I definitely recommend getting the long handles. The handles allow the bag to swing easily over the shoulder and the size and construction of the bad are great! I can take it to the beach, grocery shopping, or for short trips. The teal color is just the color I was looking for along with the monogram!

This bag is perfect for everything from pool/beach stuff to library books to groceries. The large is great for a full day outing (towels, snacks, clothes, sunscreen, books). I prefer the zip-top, because it provides a little more privacy when I'm swimming and/or it's not right on my shoulder. I've washed it many times and the dark green color has not faded. I also love the personalization options. I'll be using this bag forever.

I bought this tote as a gift for someone who requested the zip top to keep the gulls out of it at the beach. No complaints about the bag itself. Biggest complaint was that there were no regular handle zip tops on the floor in the store. Being local, I prefer going to Freeport rather than order on line. So - buy the zip top! But don't trust the stock in the store.

These bags are awesome. They are made extremely well and still look great after lots of use. I feel comfortable carrying the bag by the straps even when it's really heavy. I got my monogramed and it turned out perfectly. I would recommend getting the longer straps if you plan to wear this bag on your shoulder. I have the regular straps and I really wish they were long. Still an awesome bag that you'll have for life!

I love love love your boat and tote bags! I have 8 grand children and I buy a large bag with zipper and have it monogrammed with their name when they are born. Their parents love the bags and use them all the time. Especially when they spend the weekend at grandma's. I also have a small one for my lunch, and a medium one for my books, IPad, and stuff. This year for Christmas I have ordered the older grandchildren the rolling duffel bags for their vacation trips. Love your luggage too.

I have purchased about 10 of these bags over the last few years. Some were gifts and some I use to transport charts. I use the ones with zippered tops for short trips and they work great. LL Bean has always provided the best service and products, these bags are excellent.

I bought my first tote back in the '80's and I still use it. The totes are the most durable, functional items I have ever purchased. I own several sizes now, and am always on the lookout for another one, or another reason to add another one to my collecton. Lucky for me L.L.Bean continues to develop new colors and designs for its longtime customers.
