After years of buying boat and totes for other members of my family, I was finally in Freeport, Maine for the first time in 30 years (not since my honeymoon) and bought my own. I used it for the rest of our New England/Maine/Airondacks 2 week trip to lug items out of L.L.Bean, as a temporary cooler bag between rental places, and for laundry during the trip. It worked fabulously and then folded up nicely to fit back in my carry-on suitcase for the trip home. Now it is ready for the next 30 years of my marriage. Oh, and the monogram was done in less than 30 minutes in the store by a super nice gal!

We bought this bag in 1993 and it is still going! I just purchased one for our daughter, who now has a child of her own - so that she, too, can pack tons of things everywhere she goes, throughout his childhood.

I purchased a Small Open-Top Boat and Tote for my each of my daughters and my youngest son liked theirs so much he wanted his own, which I had monogrammed. I myself own two Small totes (one open-top, one zip-top) and they are great. I use mine to cart water bottles to and from the car for sports events or road trips. My daughter used hers on a recent road trip. The Small tote is large enough to carry quite a bit and sturdy because of the reinforced canvas base, far sturdier than any flimsy tote or plastic bag. In the past I gave each of my bridesmaids a monogrammed Small Open-top Boat and Tote. If you need a catch-all bag to keep in your car, this is the tote for you. Even though the product description says to spot clean the tote, it does okay in the washing machine, on the gentle cycle in cold water, and line dried. I highly recommend this little gem of a bag!

I can see why these get so many 5 star reviews. I'm the pilot of an antique airplane (1943) that doesn't have a baggage compartment. The plane has tandem seating so whatever I carry has to set on the narrow back seat. I needed something I could stow my camping equipment in. This is perfect. I can fit my cot, tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, plus personal items in this bag and keep it contained in the back seat when I fly on overnight trips to airshows and camping events. I had mine personalized with a monogram. This bag uses fantastic materials and is well made. I can't imagine ever wearing it out. I like this bag so well, I plan to order these (in smaller sizes) as gifts for family members!

Traditional Cape Cod …so handy and strong..great quick service

Our three-year-old grandson has one of these and uses it extensively, especially for trips to grandma and grandpa's house. Very roomy, holds everything from stuffed animals to his little backpack with extra clothes, etc. New baby now has his own, with his three letter monogram. Very happy with the quality and delivery.

We were sailors for almost 30 years and LL Bean Boat Totes became a staple for carrying provisions to the boat, packing beach towels for a trip ashore and many more things. For her bridal shower last year, I got my daughter the medium zip top with long handles with her new monogram. She loved it. This year she dropped a hint she'd like the large one. I got her two - one with regular handles (great for lugging heavy stuff and one with long straps for lighter loads (gear for gym, picnic in the park), as it can go on your shoulder. Now it looks like she has matched luggage. LLBean totes are sturdiest, have best handles and last longer than other that may appear similar!

I purchased these bags for Christmas gifts for the people I do business with! Knowing LLBEAN's quality of workmanship I thought it would be a wonderful and perfect bag to fill with goodies!

This is my standard baby present gift because it is never out grown or wears out. I've probably ordered 30 or so of them and the babies I gave them to at first are now grown and having children of their own but they still have the tote bag I gave them with their name on it. It's great for taking supplies to church - diapers, crayons and books, etc., for school, for picnics, for sleep overs, as a book bag, in college. . . . . Every mother who's received one loves it and finds it so useful; for every baby it's a life long gift. Ten stars!

I hoped this would be our go to bag to take along on our boat, but Paul (whose name is embroidered on the bag) has filled it with his "stuff" so it won't be going with us on our boat rides. I'm disappointed, but he loves it.

The LL Bean tote bag is an indispensable basic and also a great gift! You can never have too many! Spring for a monogram!

This tote bag is the best I've ever owned. In the last 30-40 years I've probably purchased over 30 bags either for gifts or for my own use. They are so sturdy!! I bet they can easily carry and support 50 pounds or more. They stand up on their own, so you can easily pack them. Everyone I give the totes to loves them; and the monogram option makes them even more special.

This is my new gym bag. I purchased the small size and it fits my water bottle, ear buds, small wallet, keys and small umbrella. I love the monogram. The letter size is perfect. It's durable and just what I was looking for.
