Just received 2 pair today. It is amazing that everything is the same EXCEPT the waist. If you lay the two down together, the Coastal Dune shorts appears to have a waist that is 2" larger than the Walnut Shorts. The problem is that the elastic in the Coastal Dune shorts is essentially non existent, therefore, in order to wear the shorts without them sliding off of you when you put your cell in your pocket, you have to cinch up the waist strap. LL Bean needs to get better at checking out the quality of work coming from their cheap overseas labor. This may be the very last order from LL Bean. I have noticed the same problem with the dock pants and the bathing suits that I previously have purchased and no longer get from LL Bean.

I have/had over a half dozen pair, recent and over the years, I keep buying because I like elastic waist, BUT EVERY pair has discoloration where dye is lost resulting in multiple discolored spots. I wash warm, no bleach, no softeners. Mr. Bean there is a problem.

Got for my husband. The waist is loose and the butt and legs are very baggy. Will try a m medium.

These are a good quality pair of shorts that are cut too small. I'm Going to return them as soon as my local store reopens. Shorts are XXL 44"/46" waist. My waist is a bit less than 44" and the garment fits too close on me. LL BEAN needs to look at their sizing.

Normally a size S fits perfectly. Overall, the shorts are true to size BUT the elastic waistband is so stiff that it suffocates. I ordered a M to try them and the waistband was just as tight and the rest of the fit was too big. I love the fabric and color, but the stiffness of the elastic waistband is overkill. Please remake these with an elastic that really gives and can be worn comfortably--especially when it is hot outside.

Extremely dissatisfied with the product. The material is very thin and feels cheap.

I am completely frustrated with your draw string shorts both this pair and supplex. With only a phone in the pocket they droop. I recently purchased a pair from New Balance and they do not droop. As much as I prefer shopping at LLBean I can no longer for shorts. Please fix this issue.

I specifically got these shorts because I wanted a natural, non-stretchy material and the description says these are "100% organic cotton". However, when I received them I found the material IS stretchy and clearly contains some percentage of elastane despite being labeled "100% cotton". Also, they appear to have a fly in the photos but it's fake--these do not actually open in front.

Not a pair of shorts I'm comfortable wearing in public.

Way too wide and flared out on the bottom. Looks like wearing a Grandpa's short.

shorts are too large and baggy.this is the 3rd pair of shorts i have returned at $6.50 per return.will not purchase any more

I tried these on before removing any tags to discover they would not work. My waist is 35 which falls between a medium and large. The waist of the shorts is elastic with a draw string. I called before ordering to ask about sizing. They informed me that the medium shorts would fit up to a 40 inch waist which should work for me. I ordered the medium and had to really fight to get them over my hips. I called again after receiving them and got the same answer as I did before ordering them. Just called customer service and spoke with them again and they don't have the large in the same color. I am returning them because the sizing is NOT true to size. I like the company and customer service is helpful/professional. However, everything can't be 100% all of the time. Thank you LL Bean.
