I purchased four of these as my primary shirts for an extended trip. After washing and wearing them once, I found that they were just too short. I do have a little longer than average torso, but other large Smartwool shirts I have purchased in the past fit fine.

A little disappointed in the t-shirts from smart wool. We are in the market for a few of these for a son doing a backpacking trip and the fit was off and they felt itchy compared to others.

The T shirt is too short. The fabric is wonderful. This is one of two that I bought as an experiment. I won't buy any more.

Runs small/short or we got a defective one. Husband usually wears large in men's and this was like a woman's large. Maybe defective but def doesn't work for him. Material felt nice to the touch

Quality product that breathes well and keeps me cool and dry. 3 stars because the shirt sleeves wrinkled after being put through the wash, so be careful with cleaning this product!

I have been using black Merino Short Sleeve Tees for work for years. This may not have been its intended purpose, but it worked beautifully - much better than those black cotton tees. Smartwool recently changed the seams/stitching and added a much larger logo to the arm sleeve, so the shirt looks less professional now. The new seams/stitching seem to be designed for the shirt to be worn as a base layer, not as a top layer shirt. I would love it if Smartwool would make the original shirt again for everyday/casual/work purposes.

Just a heads-up that this shirt comes MUCH smaller than the same size in the Everyday Ts. The Everyday Medium is perfect for me (6'2" 190). This shirt was about 3" shorter, so it barely reached my belt, and was skin-tight. Could be good for working out but not as a casual/travel shirt. I may try a size up and see if that's better and will update if so. I will say it was quite soft and comfortable... so this isn't negative about the shirt, just be warned that the sizing is totally different from other Smartwool shirts.

Smaller cut than the plant based dyed shirt I purchased. For a tshirt I would likely size up for casual hikes but be fine if I needed if used as a true base layer.

Nice shirt and great updates over the old model, but there is a comically large and scratchy tag in the left interior seam which is difficult to remove.

I have a lot of Smartwool shirts that are both short and long sleeve. I bought this one to add to my array of colors. However, I decided to return the shirt, as I already have a shirt that is very similar to this one -- I didn't think the color show on the screen was accurate to the shirt that was delivered.

Casual wear and base layer when motorcyling. I've purchased a number of these through the years and would swear by them. Recently purchased two more because I liked them so well. Unfortunately, after wearing them for awhile I noticed that they kept riding up my torso. So I measured them against previous purchases. My findings is that the length of the newer model shirt has decreased by 2 inches. With a 40 plus percent price increase in the past year and the fact that smartwool is delivering less I decided it was time to end my relationship with Smartwool and move on to a higher quality outfit.

I use it as a base layer for winter sports. I was disappointed that it shrank a little a lost a lot of its original softness after the first wash.

These have been shortened by at least an inch. Buyer beware. When the fit changes so drastically why isn't there any communication? A long standing product being changed is always a disappointment.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
The fit is odd. Sleeves and body are too long. Nice material, though.

I love the look and fit of this shirt; but, within a couple of wears under a light day pack, it began to pill significantly at the back which, given the price, I wouldn't expect to be happening so quickly and without repeated washing.

These shirts were a disappointment. The quality is not there for the price point. The material feels scrappy and very thin. If, it wasn't because of the fact, that I have washed these, I would return.

I generally love Smartwool products, but recently have been disappointed with my orders. I've noticed that sizing of items does not seem to be consistent. I purchased several size medium items and most of them fit well, however the t-shirts do not fit quite right. There's some odd paneling around the shoulders, created by two seams instead of one, that creates a weird fit. Additionally, if I raise my hands above my head, the shirt rides up way too much. I'm 6'2" and have an athletic build and an average torso length. Given my dimensions and that the models on most of the products are my height and build, I'd expect the medium to fit well. But it doesn't at all. This is also pre-washing, so if there's any shrinking, "I'm toast." Meanwhile, the large merino short sleeve tee is too big and floppy. Adding an inch in length to the shirt and taking out the shoulder paneling would help fix this problem. I'm going to keep buying Smartwool because I like the brand but for the time being I won't be buying any more short sleeve tees.

I was looking forward to really liking this shirt even though I was not thrilled with how prominent the branding on the sleeve is. - I think displaying a brand logo or name is extremely tacky. Upon first wear, I really liked it, the fabric is nice, the cut is nice and everything was appearing to make me ignore the branding, until the first wash! - First wash followed directions, cool water, delicate cycle, even put the shirt inside a laundry bag for extra protection. Tumbled in the lowest temperature possible. - No shrinkage, but there is a gaping hole in the middle of the belly, as it often happens with cheap t-shirts after months of use and washes. After ONE use and ONE wash. This should be labeled as "Single Use Disposable" shirts.

Loved it until it was washed and it shrank from XL to M in cold water.

I have multiple Smartwool Tee's that I love. I returned this one. The cut has change and the fit is too small. Won't be buying anymore.

The shirt material and seams are itchy esp with a pack. It is not breathable and stinks after use. I bought this for backpacking & have been very disappointed

I bought 2 of these before a trip and have not even returned from the trip to wash them yet. The backs of both shirts have already turned into worn out balls of wool.

Didn't have the hang loop inside the collar like was shown in the picture on the website. All my other Smart Wool shirts have the loop. I returned the shirt.
