The garden shoes work really well. The soles keep you from slipping in loose soil with the great traction.
However, when I went to take them off today, I noticed both shoes had four identical cracks across the top of the foot. They were purchased last July so only 12 months old. Expected more from LL Bean in terms of longevity and quality.
If you only garden occasionally, you will probably like them. However, I am in my garden every weekend in the summer and needed a durable shoe.
As others noted, they run large so size down.

(In all fairness, I purchased an exact pair in a color not currently offered in the Freeport Outlet store in April 2025). They started out fantastic. Fit great, was completely waterproof, etc. I wore almost every day in the yard. However, just today (July 2) I was walking along and realized the whole inside of one was ripped open about 4" where it was glued into the upper part of the sole. I have applied Shoe-Goo in a desperate attempt to repair them in some form just to get me through the rest of summer. Upon further inspection, both shoes are displaying small creaks along the toe box where your toes flex. Just terrible quality and I can't believe I'm alone in having this problem. Of course, I didn't save the receipt so no return. Be forewarned, these might be fine for the gentleperson "gardener" who goes out maybe once a week, but for shoes to blow out after, not even, three months of wear - don't waste your money.

These were excellent... until they weren't. They received only light use, but at just over a year old, they're cracked and pulling apart. The cracks go all the way through the rubber.

I like the look of these, but they split across the toe after 2 weeks. Then they looked bad, in addition to being not suitable for wet walking.

I bought this in March 2024,wore for summer months in MN and stopped wearing September-May (winter boots are required here). Now these lovely yellow boots are cracking in multiple places I am so sad! I really thought they would make it a year of wear.

I bought these last year in early July and initially I was happy with them. However, they have split across the toe, top is coming loose from the bottom and in wet grass my feet get soaked. They were a waste of money.

I returned the first pair because the rubber split on top Customer service made it right and gave me another pair.
Not only did the second pair split in the same spot, the rubber also split in other places on top. I tried to glue the split but it didn't work. The shoes are useless. My feet get wet. I'm

I was so excited to receive these shoes for my birthday, mainly using them for gardening or walking in the park. The color, fit, and comfort were exactly what I was looking for. I was so sad when they cracked above the seam of the top box. I'm expecting they will be leaking soon. :-(

I purchased this item 1 year ago but did not really start wearing them until about 6 months ago. About a month ago, I noticed cracks in the shoes, similar to what others have experienced. I have only used the shoes for walking my dog around my suburban block. I am very disppointed in this product. I love Bean shoes and have never had a problem but would caution people not to buy these.

Loved these for a month and they seemed to stain easily and both of them split up the sides and cracked on the top. Had for 2.5 months. Returned.

Bought these Wellies for my wife to do barn chores in. She has had them about a month and they are cracking and coming apart in the area by the toe cap.

Poor fit for me. Shoe is much too bulky. Thought it would be trimmer than it is.

I purchased these several months ago, only wore them a few days a week for a few hours a day. Within a few weeks they Cracked and got holes in the top of the shoe. The company did send me an email that someone would be contacting me about the issue that never happened. I would not recommend this product.

My wife has used these for gardening for 3 months. There are numerous cracks in the rubber, and they are NOT waterproof! Made by Ariat under the LL Bean name, they give both LL Bean and Wellies a bad name. They are junk.

I bought these in March and was initially thrilled with comfort but they have cracked at the flexion portion and the soles are separating.

Only had these shoes for less than two weeks and they have tears on them already. Awful shoes, I expected better quality from L.L. Bean. My Wal-Mart watering boots have held but better than these boots. The only positives are the fit was right and they were comfortable to wear.

I bought these for working in the yard. In the bend of your foot they began to crack. Weeks later- crack all the way across the foot. Definitely not LL Bean quality. Cost was too high for a shoe that doesn't last. They run very big. I had to wear two pair of socks for them to fit

I bought this product in early May, less than 2 months ago. I walk 2.5 miles through dewy grass fields 6 mornings a week. They were great for about 2 weeks, then they started to leak from the sole. My socks were soaked on the bottom by the end of the walk. The rubber on the upper part of the shoe has cracked allowing more moisture through. The tread is great and the shoe is comfortable, just not waterproof.

I normally do not write reviews. But after reading these I realized I was not alone. I bought my first pair, yellow ones at the ll bean store in NJ. I liked them a lot. But they only lasted a couple weeks. They had water coming in from, I guess the seem. I did not find any holes or cracks. I could hear them squishing as I walked. I had the receipt and brought them back to the store, I asked if there were issues. Sales person said she did not hear of any. I was able to exchange for another pair, blue. They lasted about a year. Then they dried out and cracks on the bottom and top. In the garbage they went. I am disappointed in these shoes as they are easy to slip on and off to walk the dog. But do not trust the quality or longevity to try for a 3rd. Thank you and I urge to relook at the making and quality.

Ordered in January but we don't wear Wellies here until spring has sprung. I have worn these twice in morning dew grass and my socks and feet got soaked and the shoes won't dry out! Extremely disappointing. I will go back to my Muck shoes... I want a refund please.

I bought these less than a year ago. I initially loved them, however they have formed leaks and cracks and are no longer waterproof. Unfortunately I don't have the receipt so I can't get my money back. LLBean usually has excellent quality items.
