It's super warm and a great winter coat. A bit too bulky and awkward. But not enough to outweigh the warmth and beauty of the jacket.

I purchased this jacket in 2016 and the quality and warmth is fantastic; it's held up remarkably well. So many pockets and I've literally never been cold in it (it's my go to anytime temps drop below freezing); I will say, I wish the coffee bean color was truer to the photos online. In person, the color is much more similar to the 'chocolate' or traditional brown corduroy lining versus a grey/brown mocha. Only disappointing feature is the color.

A little boxy and arms seem longer but still like!

This jacket is warm and roomy for layers underneath. The upper pockets are awesome! They are very deep, which you don't always get in women's clothing. The zipper is very sticky.

This coat was everything I wanted it to be but the color. I ordered the green and sadly it was a not attractive. Fix the color and it would be perfect!

Nice and warm, but a bit bulky. I wish it was longer, but all in all, a good buy.

High Quality Quilted Jacket, but a bit too small for me, though I fit the size-guidelines. As always, ordering online is convenient, but a little bit challenging. This jacket is going back!

I had always wanted this jacket for the style, material, and fit. As much as I loved the material and weight of this jacket and its potential to be my favourite winter coat, it was just way too large for me. The sleeves were way too long and bulky, the shoulders were way too wide, and the overall fit of the body was too wide even though I ordered an X-Small. I really need and want this coat in a Petite X-Small so that the length and shoulder width would be more fitting to my size. Otherwise what a great jacket! I was sorry to return it.

I ordered the Upcountry Waxed-Cotton Down Jacket and loved it right away. Everything about the coat is great: the material, the weight, the warmth, the style, the hardware, the pockets. My only criticism is that even the XS was too large for me - the sleeves were too long and the shoulders were too broad and the torso was too long. Sadly I had to return it because I just could not wear it because it was too large in every way. I have been wanting this coat for years and I finally live in a climate where it would suit my needs but I need to wait for LLBean to offer this coat in Petite. Please make this coat in XS Petite!

I ordered for my wife and she normally wears a medium but this was just too big. It was also a lot more puffy than we imagined. It looked like solid construction and a nice jacket but she was looking for something a little less puffy and warm, otherwise, was a nice looking coat.

There are so many things I love about this jacket, and some things that could definitely be improved upon. This jacket is so warm, I love it. I feel totally protected and ready to take on the weather. It's comfortable, but not too heavy. That said, I bought a Medium thinking it would fit more true to size. It's big enough to wear a sweater underneath it, but if you want a slimmer fit, size down. The pockets are nice! I really like the angled hand pockets; they are very convenient. The snap-closure pockets don't exactly fit my iPhone 8+ which is a bummer but not a big deal, and the exterior pocket don't really fit my hands. The only other thing I wish this jacket has was more cinching in the waist, and a different sleeve cuff, as these are really wide. Good purchase, I'm very pleased.

The jacket was absolutely gorgeous, and I would've kept it but the XS fit like a Medium - disappointed as it was exactly what I was looking for but unfortunately it had to go back. Overall, it was a high quality, heavyweight jacket. Would love if you would consider making an XXS.

The color(carmel brown) was great and the jacket was well made. Unfortunately it was at least one size too small. I own a Barbour Beadnell in US 18 and have room to spare. This XL(18-20) I could not close the jacket. The Barbour has a much stiffer material to the LLBEAN which makes the LLBEAN more comfortable to wear but since I was unable to close it, it was a moot point. I would recommend it if you size up.

First I want to say I ordered this jacket on a Sunday (afternoon) and it arrived Tuesday. So I'm very happy with how quickly it arrived. After searching for a waxed jacket and discovering how expensive these coats can be; I found this one and noticed the price was much more affordable than many others. I liked the style the Upcountry Down Jacket offered so I took a chance and ordered it. If I could change one thing about the jacket I would make it a bit more tailored. It is a boxy fit and being quilted as well doesn't necessarily offer a slender look. Also many people mentioned the sleeves being to long, which is true. I do wish the sleeves were a shorter length but I'm not unhappy that the longer length covers more of my hand and will keep them warmer in winter. That being said, overall I'm very pleased with this purchase. I'm 5"5' and weight around 120 lbs and after reading the reviews I ordered an XS and I'm glad I did. I wish it were a bit smaller but because it has a double zipper, I can unzip it from the bottom and cinch it closed around my upper waist which gives a little shape to the jacket. I still have room to wear a bulky sweater under the jacket. I like the Loden color and the overall style this jacket offers. The upper side pockets feel warm and there is an addition interior pocket with a zipper which will be very handy. I like the larger quilted pattern and the smooth area around the shoulders. I think it gives the coat a smart look. I also like the soft corduroy around the collar and the underside of the pockets. Some people said they didn't like how tall the collar is, but if it's cold weather, I think I will like having the extra protection around my neck and it lays down nice so it works for me. This jacket hits me just above mid thigh. I gave this jacket 4 stars because it's just slightly less than what I was looking for but for the price and quality, I'm very satisfied with it.

Very warm, good looking jacket, but the sleeves were much too long. They were so long that if alterations were made they would have made the sleeves look a little off. Alterations are also a bit a problem because it is a waxed cotton jacket which means the alterationist needs to know how to work with the material and many do not have that special skill. I would only recommend this jacket to a friend if they had very long arms, or if LL Bean re-styled the sleeve length.

Beyond my floor-length wool winter coat, this is the best, and warmest coat I own, and I absolutely love it! Purchased this at 25% off before Christmas, and added in the credit for another coat I returned, and have gotten much more than my money's worth, wearing it during the recent frigid temperatures experienced here in the northeast. In -18 windchills, I was not cold in the least! I purchased the coffee color in an XL. The sleeves are a bit long, and the coat does attract lint due to the waxing, but I'm willing to deal with that given the warmth provided by this coat. I have room to wear a heavy sweater or heavy sweatshirt underneath, but I haven't found the need given the warmth this coat provides. My better half is always cold, and after listening to me rave about its warmth as well as liking the style herself, thought she'd try one out. She just received it yesterday, and I'm looking forward to hearing her comments. If you live anywhere where the temps get below freezing, I highly recommend this coat. I use a lint brush and spot clean as the need arises. Try it...I'm sure you'll like it!

I love almost everything about this jacket. The lining is very warm, and with two layers underneath I'm sure it would be perfect when the temperature drops in NC. I also love the brown color and the quality is undeniable. I didn't love the collar. Maybe it's because I'm short (5'2"), but the collar came too far up the side of my face, and for the price, I just couldn't justify keeping it. I also ordered a Small and it just seemed a little big in the shoulders and made me look boxy, but had the collar been more comfortable I would have been ok with the shoulders. Even though I returned it, I still really love the coat and would recommend it for someone else to try. ]

I ordered this coat to replace a wool peacoat that was too small. I wanted something warmish for everyday to wear to work (I'm a teacher) and walking dogs in the winter, but not as heavy as a ski jacket (and with a more formal look). It was heavier than I expected. There was no warmth rating, so I had trouble telling before I ordered it. I wound up purchasing the quilted riding jacket for the original purpose (which I also love), but loved the look and feel of this one so much that I kept it anyway to replace another down coat I have. I think it is the perfect balance between "boxy" (has some shape to it) and form-fitting (I still have some shape when I wear it!). The fit is great on me. I ordered a medium and I'm 5'4" about 145 lbs (post-partum). I can fit a medium or a heavy weight sweater underneath, though I probably wouldn't want a heavy one unless it was 15 degrees or less outside. It is a very warm coat! I think the wax coating adds to the warmth by blocking the wind, and it has an insulating effect. It winds up being warmer than my original down coat which doesn't have a coating like this, but is much longer. The pockets are cozy and well-made, as is the lining around the collar. I do sort of wish it had a hood. Other reviewers mentioned the lint problem. I don't have high shedding pets and this hasn't been an issue for me. The only downside for me is that it keeps my top half extremely warm and my bottom half feels cold by comparison. So I guess I sort of wish it was a bit longer, but I know the look would be different if it were. Overall, a very good coat that I look forward to using on very cold days. It's also a plus that it's fairly water/stain repellant so I can wear it to play in the snow with my toddler.

The only thing I want to add is that this model is not as warm as the previous model which was extremely, thickly, wonderfully warm. I also agree with the comments about the pockets being too small and their imperfect positioning, but I still adore the coat and almost can't wear any other one in winter. I recommend!

For years, I had the short version of the waxed jacket. It was a great jacket for working on the farm. One of the great things about it was the large zipper with a pull ring. So, when the old jacket gave up, I decided to try this one because it is longer and I wanted more coverage. I ordered a large size- I usually take between large and X- large. When the jacket arrived, I found I could not detach the double zipper at the bottom, no matter how I tried. Customer service was excellent, and sent me a replacement and a special return ticket for the first one. This zipper worked, but I have comments about it. First of all, the zipper pull is very small. I had to attach another zipper pull on to make it easier. And second, it's quite tricky to perfectly align the two zippers to zip it up or unzip and exit the coat. I hope they will rethink this and fix it. Lastly, the jacket in a large just fits- if you have any kind of a bosom, it's quite snug, while it fits great everywhere else.

This is a cute coat but it runs very large. Normally I'm between a medium and large, I decided to size up to make sure I had room for layers but I was swimming it! I sized down to a medium and it was still too big. I'm currently in the process of exchanging for a small and hoping this one will fit. I also wish there was an elastic cinch at the waist. There's one on the bottom to help keep out the cold but one at the waist would help it feel like a better fit and make it much more flattering.

Zipper failed a week in. Other than that, it's a nice coat. Sadly the item is out of stock and customer service advised me to choose a different jacket. A tad disappointing.

i ordered a medium. wasn't very flattering. particularly the shoulders felt very big which i usually appreciate in a coat bc i have bigger arms (24y.o athletic female, 5'8, 170) but the fit was very odd. i'm sure it would have been warm enough but i ended up returning it.

I love the look and styling and warmth of this jacket BUT it is a fur/lint/fuzz magnet! Any and everything sticks to the material and is not easily brushed off. Additionally, the pocket(s) placement is so odd. There are too many pockets and they are too small and difficult to access. I have never lost my keys in a jacket until this one! I think it could be an awesome jacket with a few changes... I really wished I could have loved it :(

The sleeves are a little long, and the zipper is finicky. It has to be in a precise position or it does not zip up. It has gotten a little better with use, but is still problematic. I love the fabric and down as well as how the jacket feels on me, it's warm, repels water and has good backside coverage. The pockets are a little awkward to access and are located a little high to access from the top of the pocket for my convenience, and the side pocket access is more shallow than I would prefer. I like the coat well enough to tolerate its flaws, but the zipper is aggravating.
