This classic down parka coat, it is very nice and fit me well. The reason I do not rate 5 stars is because when I purchase, it had a white stain in the back of the bottom side. I exchanged it but now the problem is that is hard to put it together to zip! And when I take the coat off, I have a hard time to separate the end of the zipper. There is no problem to zip up and down, the issue is when I put it together to zip up and when I zip it down, the problem is to take off the end.

I have the similar jacket style (green, Regular large). Since they are both 'semi-fitted' I got them a bit larger than needed and planned to wear over a sweater. I tried petite large & that was too tight in the jacket style. I don't like fitted clothes In general but this one isn't bad. That said, this is the best I could do, I have tried & returned many LLB coats & jackets. I was going to get a 2nd jacket ( it covers my high hip area) then came upon the parka, which covers more of the hips & legs. Not thrilled with some features: I don't like a hood but this one is removable. I like snaps AND zippers though I only use the snaps or leave the coats open while driving. If the snaps ever won't work, I like the zipper option. The double pocket takes some getting used to, and I'm not happy with the high location of the inside pocket. The waist cord, even on the regular size parka, is actually at my waist ( I expected it to be too low to use). The jacket has proved to be warm & water-repellent ( not in rain or heavy snow). All in all probably one of the best outerwear LLB offers.

I had been searching high and low for a winter coat that's not only high quality and durable but within a reasonable price range for my student budget. I initially tried on this coat in store a few weeks ago and witnessed firsthand the faulty zipper issue that so many others have discussed. I have a rain coat from another company with the same zipper issue and as much as I loved the overall look, fit, and feel I couldn't handle another tricky zipper. Long story short, I went back to my local store again today and was able to find an XS black in stock... with a functioning zipper! I had on a wool sweater, LL Bean Mountain Classic Fleece Zip Up, and still had some room with this jacket on. The overall length hits me about mid thigh, the sleeves a few inches past my wrist, and the hood right at my eyebrows (an issue I've had with other coats is the hood being too large and covering my eyes). I haven't tested it out in rain or snow yet but wore it right out of the store with 20 mph winds today and I didn't feel a thing!

I did a lot of research to find the perfect jacket and decided to go with this one because of the glowing reviews. It was backordered so I had to wait a while for it to ship. The first size I purchased (a small) was way too big on me so I returned it and ordered an xxsmall size which fits nicely. I like the jacket because it does definitely keep me warm when it covers my body. I like the color and I like that the handcuffs are tighter than most jackets. But what I don't like is the neck area, it is too high up and even when zippered up it does not keep your neck warm and also it is very uncomfortable. Another thing I didn't like was the snaps that are soooo difficult to snap together and hurts your body so you can't really use them which allows some of the wind to sneak through the zipper. The last thing I dislike is that a lot of the down keeps coming out of the jacket which is very annoying. I do like the jacket but if I had the time to do more research and find a better one, I would have returned it and bought a better one.

This is exactly what it says - a warm, down-filled coat. It's 650 fill, so not as warm as an 850 fill coat, but it fits the bill in most situations. It's comfortable and looks good. I gave it 4 stars because the zipper is tricky and requires some manipulation when trying to close the coat. In addition, the waist drawstring sits high and is uncomfortable unless you have a high waist, so I don't use it.

The fit is good, especially with use of the waist drawstring, which keeps the down close for the narrow of waist. It is a nice warm coat but not as warm (or wind proof) as the one I bought from LL Bean a few years ago in a style that I adored but that is no longer available. I like the pockets a lot zip and hand pockets, and there is room for layers underneath.

I've purchased a lot of jackets over the years from Bean. This one is my favorite. The fit is excellent, the fabric is soft, there are plenty of pockets, the cuffs are nice and snug. I look forward to wearing it when I take my dog out for her last walk of the day, when nights are already getting pretty chilly. No idea yet if it will be able to hold up well against our very rainy Portland winters and springs (other Bean jackets haven't lasted long), but I'm keeping my fingers crossed because I love this jacket so much. BUT...the zipper is awful! It is a real struggle to close the zipper, sometimes taking several minutes of fiddliness to coax it up inch by inch. I think this is mostly related to it catching on the facing fabric, which is way too close to the zipper, unfortunately. Opening the zipper up to take the jacket off can also be a bit of a struggle, but not as bad. And then there's the fact that Bean used a zipper typically found in men's jackets that opens on the wrong side (from a woman's perspective). On the plus side, it is a two-way zipper, which I think is absolutely essential in a jacket. All that said, I'm willing to put up with the nightly struggle because I love wearing this jacket.

Before purchasing item I thoroughly read the reviews on here. I am normally a US L - XL/16 and broad. Based on other reviews I was expecting the jacket to run small so was almost tempted to go into the plus size but ordered the regular XL. I can honestly say that the measurements that are provided by L.L. Bean are 100% accurate as the XL is more of an 18-20 and more than adequate in width for broader shoulders. I sadly have to return as it is too large and frumpy on me.

Lightweight, comfortable and very warm. However, my coat is difficult to zip and even harder to snap. Disappointed with both the zipper and snap quality.

I bought two sizes up since down coats often are very fit. I have enough room to wear thick sweater if I want to, or tighten inner line by waist to have more shape. This was a great purchase as I am short, love the body length and sleeves are fine too. I took one star off from 5, since online picture of the coat seems to have much shinier looking gold buttons, looked good with navy blue, however in person they were dark brass, and also realized there are two tones of blue used for coat, slightly lighter navy blue by shoulders front and back, a bit of a weird look...... that said, I think this coat will serve the Massachusetts winter well for me and will look great with my bean boots!

I love the jacket but I don't like how the hood is attached to the jacket. It has 3 small snaps that come apart very easily. Every time I try to pull the hood over my head when I have the jacket on, the snaps come apart. It is frustrating to try to get the hood over your head in bad weather. Either put stronger snaps or put a zipper on it.

I first ordered a medium petite, and it was huge on me! I then ordered a misses small and it still had room across the chest, so I ordered the misses x-small and it worked!

Fits just right with just enough room to wear a warm sweater. If it was just an inch longer, it'd be perfect but honestly, its exactly what I was looking for, for these cold upstate NY winters.

This coat is very warm and comfortable. The only complaint I have is the buttons to keep the hood attached to the coat are plastic and flimsy and come undone constantly. Should have used metal and made them sturdier. Otherwise, I do love my coat, it is true to size, and will keep me warm for years to come.

I bought this because of the simple design that's almost a little retro (?). Received the coat today but not sure if I am going to keep it, it runs really big. Definitely size down if you're between sizes or smaller on top - it runs large in the shoulders and chest.

I'm usually a size medium so I decided to get a large so I'd have room to layer underneath. When I got the jacket it was huge! I returned it and got a small and it's still a little roomy, but overall I'm happy with the fit. It also helps that you are able to cinch the waist. So far, it has been warm enough for cold and windy Wisconsin weather at approx 20 degrees F.

The coat is warm and keeps the wind out. Not too long and not too short. Fit is good for me as I like to wear sweaters in the winter and the coat allows this without getting too tight or making me look like a stuffed bag of potatoes. The reason I said almost perfect is the hood needs the ability to adjusted front to back so it doesn't cover my eyes. Also, while the cuffs can be adjusted with snaps, I miss the knitted cuffs from my previous LLBean down parkas Other than the above, I certainly recommend this coat.

This coat was big on me and I normally wear an XSP. The XXSP fits more like a relaxed SP, so it is not a fitted coat. I was hoping for a fitted and shape flattering coat but this was not it so I'll have to return it as there are no smaller sizes. It's a really nicely made coat though. The pockets have internal zipper pockets to store things which is amazing. The hood comes down over your forehead and won't blow off. Overall it's a great jacket but not at all pretty on.

I just received my jacket, and sent it through the gentle wash cycle to get it ready to wear. I chose it because it has the 2 way zipper that has been left off many jackets that would have had them in the past. --- I was also looking for a really warm jacket, either down or synthetic, with a hood. Many of the choices are not insulated enough for being outside for very long. --- I think the desgners put too much emphasis on the complicated snap and Velcro technique to attach the ends of the hood - Velcro sticks before lining up the snap. I rarely remove a removable hood, and since this one was such a pain, I probably won't do it again until I wash it. --- On the other hand, it would have been nice to put a little more thought into the cuffs on the sleeves. Tightening the strap and snapping creates a gap that seems awkward. Not sure why they didn't just use Velcro. --- I was also hoping that washing it would relax the crease down the outer edges of the sleeves where down is lacking due to the shipping fold. Hopefully it will get better with use. --- It is replacing my much better quality, warm Bean's Penobscot down jacket that I've had for 12+ yes. It is still in great shape, but the zipper separates. Wish that style was still available. Not as happy with the length of the new one either. --- Hopefully it will grow on me, and be warm enough for the really cold and blizzardy days.

I don't like the out side fabric. Seems thin and it snags and catches on little sharp edges on other objects like the metal grocery cart. Looks like it could rip easy. Not as heavy duty as most winter coats I have purchased through the years. Also little feathers come out constantly. Very disappointed.winter coat fabric needs to be heavy duty.

My husband bought me this jacket for Christmas in my size, M. It is the perfect length and warm. The first time I wore it, I noticed these little white whisker-like things on the sleeves and an occasional feather. Because it was new I thought it just needed to settle. After wearing a 3rd time, I noticed more feathers and my car seat, which is black, is covered in whiskers and feathers. The reason I gave 3 stars, in addition to the feathers, is because I couldn't wear anything heavier than a long sleeve jersey under it. Sadly, I'm going to have to return it.

I bought this coat and though I like the fit and style it does not keep me warm in 30-40 degree weather. I can feel the chill come through the coat.

While it was less expensive than the others, i returned it. The zipper was moody, the pockets weren't deep enough (for phone or gloves and when I cinched the waist, it was too high (medium) and therefore, uncomfortable. It was warm enough. Disappointed. I didn't need an artic blast coat. Those were $150-200 more
