I really really wanted to love this coat because the color (I got the blue) and shape is just exactly what I wanted. It would be fine for someone who only occasionally needs a warmer coat, but I live in a winter wonderland and need a really perfect, quality parka. I was looking for something that I might love for a decade and this wasn't it for a couple of reasons. 1. The pockets aren't quite large enough to really envelop my hands. 2. The cuff style is a little annoying but not a very big deal. I prefer a smooth cuff, a ribbed cuff, or a fleece cuff. 3. The zipper is fairly poor, it catches easily due to the type of fabric bordering it and that it is sewn very close, The zipper itself felt like it would break after heavy use.

Disappointed because I really like the parka but the pockets are too shallow, my cell phone falls out, and the zipper section is too small for it to fit. Not everyone wants their phone zipped in against their chest, most people I know keep it in the outer pocket. My insulated Mountain Classic jacket has the same problem but the pockets are a tiny bit deeper so it is acceptable though not ideal. Also the hood is warm but bulky and I found it annoying when not up, my hair would not go over or under. It should be detachable, If not for these 2 problems it would be the perfect winter parka, soft and comfortable, but as it is I had to return.

The fit of this coat was wonderful. I loved the pockets, the length, the warmth, the snaps at the sleeves. What I did NOT love was the hood. It is so huge it came all the way below my nose and there was no way to make it fit. And, no, I don't have a small head or a short neck! The coat went back, which was really too bad, because otherwise it was perfect. LL Bean used to put a piece of Velcro on the back of the hood so it could be adjusted. They seemed to have missed the mark with this one.

It's short - above the knees, but it's warm and perfect for very cold winter weather.

I'm 5'2, 38DD, 200lbs. Prior to covid I was 25lbs thinner and fit nicely in an XL parka from Columbia. But now my arms are too chunky and the coat feels like it will pop when zipped. But their 1X is too large. Current shirt size: XL and pant size 14 jeans and XL in stretch pants. I tried this coat in an XL and it's a little snug in my armpit area, fits perfect in my chest area but huge from my stomach down. I could get away with it but the pockets sit so low on the coat that I can barely fit my knuckles inside so my palm sticks out. I would have dealt with the coat had the pockets been higher but it's not functional for me

It was a really nice quality coat! I got the xs (normally xs/s in most things) and it was just too puffy in the back and still pretty large. Not right for my frame sadly (5'3, 125lb) and had to return.

Less flattering and thinner/less warm in construction than I imagined based on how the coat looked online. This coat has a kind of old-school appearance that excited me when I looked at it on the website, but I found it to be pretty ordinary looking when I received it. It also feels more like a jacket than a hardy winter coat.

It's not quite as warm as I thought it would be. I must add that I feel cold easily. Also would have preferred larger pockets. The fit is perfect! I'm a petite older woman.

VERY large. I ordered my regular size 7 months pregnant thinking it would barely zip. It was still too big. Exchanged it for a size down and it's still a little big the waist can be cinched a bit so I think it will still work post baby. It is comfy and seems like it'll be warm, but I've only worn it in 45 degree weather so far.

I loved this coat! Super warm, kept me dry. The interior zipper pocket was a plus, and the double pockets at the waist were super useful! You could carry so much stuff inside your pockets. Unfortunately, the side snagged and immediately ripped the fabric! I used to love LLBean quality, and this definitely does not seem to hold up to their usual standards. If the fabric was a little sturdier this would have been perfect! But this coat is definitely not built for playing outside in the snow near bushes. If you're just wearing the coat to the store or to work, its perfect.

Unless you are pencil thin and willowy, this coat will not flatter. It is boxy, and rendered my already paunchy waist much paunchier in appearance.

I like this parka a lot. It's very light but also very warm. The hood is a good size (so many times a good coat will come with a tiny hood). Nice number of pockets, and I particularly like the zippered pocket-within-a-pocket on each side. BUT...I really struggle with the zipper. It's hard to get started, gobbles up fabric on its way up or down (I worry every time that the fabric will rip when I pull it out), and can even be hard to undo. I once had to wriggle out of the coat and shove it down to my ankles so I could step out of it. It may seem like a small thing but considering how many times I might put the coat on and take it off in one day, that's a lot of work for a zipper.

The coat was okay but on the front there is a tag sewn on with the name "llbean" - I didn't want to pay $174 for the privilege of advertising llbean on my coat, so I returned the item

I learned in a previous L.L. Bean debacle that their clothes are horrible oversized. I normally wear a size small and knew to size down so I went with a XX-small. I've never worn this size EVER in my life. The coat arrived and is beautiful with good feeling material but it is still too big! I don't know why L.L. Bean has drastically changed their women's sizes but I cannot fit in any of their clothes and am an average size...

I bought both the small and extra small in green after reading the reviews, reading the size chart, calling LL Bean (to only read me info off the size chart) and still, this coat is giant! I have a 35 in bust and 28.5 waist and the small is a joke. The extra small is still oversized (even accounting for room for a sweater) and I'm considering extra extra small. I'm disappointed to see that there isn't a draw cord at the lower part of the coat, along with the one at the waist. I'd read a response to a review by ll Bean where it was said there was a cord. :/ The coat really flares out and I can see how it could get pretty cold. The hood could use more adjustment options. It's pretty big and falls into my face. There's enough room for multiple hats and a few scarves under there. Overall, I'm pretty unimpressed with this coat. It has all the potential, but the inclusion of that missing draw cord at the bottom would make a huge difference. I'm frustrated to have to pay to ship these back.

I like the coat. Just wish it was a little thicker and had a better quality zipper on it

I ordered this coat with high hopes it would be similar to a llbean coat I had purchased before. The coat was huge even with a heavy hoodie on underneath. The bottom of the coat would've benefited from having a drawstring to tighten the bottom the air went up underneath and I was cold up to my chest. It was well made, zipper very sturdy I sent it back. I would've ordered a smaller size if the bottom had some way to tighten.

This coat is perfect for keeping out the cold. Runs large. One problem... smells terrible. Even after washing. Washing again to hopefully get out the smell. I really hope it goes away because otherwise it would be my new favorite coat.

The size is okay. Too big on top, fits on the bottom (but that's my body shape) I was hoping it would be longer based on the photos but alas the model must be a bit short. My problem is the smell. It smells truly awful. I tried it on and now my clothes smell like it too. Like belching awful. I don't have ll bean store anywhere near me, if I brought this in I think they would be ashamed of themselves. If I want to return it I have pay a shipping fee and lose out on the sale. I want to keep this jacket BUT IT LITERALLY STINKS.

I wound up returning this coat. It is warm but the sleeves in petite small were way too short a problem for me in Chicago weather. The other areas of the coat fit generously. Also the waist becomes very bulky when you pull the elastic waist ties. I would have preferred the coat be cut closer on the waist area.

I purchased this coat first in an extra small, which was fine except a little tight across the shoulders. I also felt, because I'm tall, that the drawstring waist sat higher than my natural waistline, which felt uncomfortable. I then ordered it in a small, the shoulders felt okay, but the waist area still bothered me. I took them both back to the store and after trying on other coats returned them both because it probably just wasn't my style. Wanted to love it though!

I like the parka, it is well made and warm. The length is great for Minnesota winters and sitting on a cold car seat. The zipper is my main complaint; it is designed for left handed people. The majority of people are RIGHT handed which makes zipping this parka less convenient. The outer flap over the zipper is on the right side and there's a flap on the left side on the inside of the coat. When I am zipping up the coat, the zipper often catches on one of the two flaps. I am worried that one day that the zipper will eventually create a hole in either flap. I like to zip my coats and jackets without giving it much thought, however I feel the need to make a conscious effort to avoid catching the zipper on the fabric. I am hoping this coat lasts for at least a couple of years, time will tell. It is inconvenient to have to operate the zipper with my left hand or to reach around the front flap in order to zip with my right hand.

disappointed, love the style and it's a well made jacket. light weight but not warm in the windy winter 45f. besides, metal button leave smells on my fingers. I returned it. Sadly.

LL Bean needs to get better designers for their winter coats,, three issues: 1) zipper was very irritating when zipped up to my neck/cheeks 2) pockets are soooo small maybe good for only a Kleenex! 3) the hood was oddly sized because when i had it up i it blocked my vision.. just a wonky coat but i did love the navy color and certainly want to support LL Bean but not if the coats dont fit or have good hoods or pockets
