I buy coats from LL Bean because I know they are made for subzero weather. I've been in -40 degrees F. LL Bean coats keep me warm!

I'm so glad I purchased this parka! I was in NE Washington State at Christmas when they had the very cold weather. It really did the job and kept me warm and comfortable. Well done!

I have been searching for a replacement for a coat that is over twelve years old or more. This coat is a gem. Not only does it keep me warm, I feel that it is styled well. Excellent quality. Great length.

I wasn't sure which coat would work best for me so I ordered the Ultralight 850 Down and the Waterproof Ultralight Down and the Mountain Classic Parka. I ordered them all in black and all in XL. I compared them side by side. I wear a size 14 (loose) in most brands but usually order an XL in LL Bean shirts and sweaters. I have some other coats from them in Large but I couldn't decide what was best so I took a chance and ordered XL. I probably could have worn the Large but I wanted to have room for a sweatshirt, vest or whatever so the XL was good for me. Ultimately I kept the Mountain Classic Parka. I felt it was by far the warmest of all 3. It is the bulkiest so if you're looking for compact, this isn't as lightweight as the others. I was going to South Dakota in December so wanted something that would withstand the cold temperatures. Warmth was the deciding factor but the Mountain Classic had some great features. First, I love the two way zipper - I will never own a coat that doesn't have one. Second, I love the flap that goes over the zipper, it makes it easy to snap the jacket on without having to zip it. I also think it makes it warmer. I didn't have any issue with the hood as some others mentioned or with the pockets. I agree, the pockets could be a bit deeper but they are functional. The Ultralight down was not nearly as flattering of a style. It may be a warm coat but I didn't think it looked that good and it didn't feel nearly as warm as the classic. The Waterproof Ultralight Down was ok and I wanted to love it, but the style wasn't very flattering. I realize down coats aren't going to be that flattering in general but it just looked "tent" like and didn't seem like it was worth the $$. I will say it had a nice interior and slipped on nicely and felt good but it didn't feel as warm as the classic parka. Overall, I'm very happy. I've worn it tons of times and always gotten compliments on it and when others are cold, I'm nice and toasty. I also like the drawstring that allows you to make the jacket a bit more tailored if you like. I love LL Beans coats and sweaters because the sleeves are a good length for me - some brands are so long.

I really like this coat because it feels so comfortable and warm. I don't have any issues with the zipper or the hood. I think the hood is perfect fit and warmth for me. I do feel like this coat runs big. I usually wear a size small in tops. I am about 5'6" and weight almost 140 pounds. I am bottom heavy so I usually wear a size 4 or 6 on top. So in theory I should be a size small but the size small was huge on me. It would have worked but it looked very oversized in my opinion. I exchanged it for the extra small which fits perfectly. I have plenty of room for easy movement and even for a light jacket underneath.

Very good quality. I would shop at L.L.Bean again.

I'm pear shaped and the medium fits me well (5'1"). It's really warm and sometimes I just walk with it unzipped. It has good pockets including one inside and a warm hood that stays on well. I like the double zipper; you can unzip from the bottom (like other reviewers have mentioned can be a little finicky), but it's nice to use the bottom zipper if you need more breathability and range of motion when walking.

I am liking this parka. It fits well and seems true to size. It's warm. The zipper works well. I love the olive color. The quality is excellent. My only little complaint is about the pockets. I wish there was another inside pocket, and I wish the outside pockets were slightly larger.

I needed a back up for my other winter coat, so happy I purchase this one. I wear a large size coat and this fits great. Have room whether I wear a bulky sweater or a hoodie over a thinner shirt or sweater. It's a warmer weight, length hits above the knees and keeps the cold wind out. Pockets are smaller than I'd like but place your keys (after taking the add'l 5 lbs of keychains off) in the inside zipped pocket and you're good. Love this coat!

I truly love this coat, on the downside though, it's so warm that on days that I plan to go shopping, I wear something less warm! We had serious windchill issues last week and this coat sure id keep me warm and toasty. Didn't mind being outside one bit.

I live in the mid east and this coat is great for our winters! Also great for a teacher at recess in the cold!

This petite winter coat is fabulous. I am very petite and have trouble finding coats that fit. The xxs was perfect and is very warm but not bulky. I would highly recommend this coat.

Love this jacket. The kelp color is great and it keeps me super warm. I did have to return and size down (normally a 4-6 small) to an extra small for the fit I wanted. The small had a bit too much extra room.

Very good parka coat to have. Keeps you warm and holds up to any kind of wearher.

Bought this for our 12 year old granddaughter. She lives in Cleveland suburb and walks to school. Beautiful quality and very well made. She is thrilled with her new coat.

My main reason for getting this coat is the ability to cinch the waist which keeps me warmer. I'm 5'10, the medium fits me perfectly and I appreciate that the sleeves are long enough for me. I wear this mostly while hiking and outside for longer periods of time.

Warm, comfortable. Love the length - mid thigh. Lots of pockets and zipper that opens at top and bottom.

I have been shopping for a good winter coat for a while and found this one. Loved the color and the length. I usually wear a small (I'm 5'4 115lbs) but got a medium so I could wear bulky sweaters/sweatshirt and it is perfect, it keeps me extremely warm especially when I'm out in the middle of the night with our new puppy waiting for her to go potty
