I am 5'9', 185 lbs. I ordered the XL and found that I had a lot of problems getting
it on over any textured clothing. The Sherpa-Lining just made it so difficult that I gave it to
my smaller son who seems to be having no problems. In fact, he loves the coat. But for me,
the lining was a no-go.

I really like how the the coat looks and fits. It's very warm. But for some reason the pockets have a single button, are cut at a bag angle and don't zipper.

I bought this jacket on 10/10/23 and have worn it extensively since then. While reasonably warm, it does not fully meet my personal needs for outdoors wear. I do lots of hiking, photography, and extended dog walks in cold weather, in woods and fields. I need the ability to securely and conveniently store photographic accessories, hats, gloves, dog treats and dog waste bags, and (very importantly) my cell phone. The jacket has but three pockets, none of which has a zipper. The snap closures do not close conveniently and I have found I need to bring a small pack for items I would normally expect to store in secure, zippered pockets. I have worn the jacket in weather down to minus 12 wind chill, and with added layers of wool and fleece, it is adequately warm. If you don't need pockets with zippers, and three is enough, this may be the jacket for you, particularly given its reasonable price. I have been a satisfied LL Bean customer for 50+ years and I'm writing this in my much loved Bean boots.

Bought a large, but it was too big...the bottom belled out in a weird way. The medium is on Backorder until April...so I had to return it. Bummer because my son really liked the look...

Beautiful jacket no doubt, gave only 3stars for the looks, the sizing turned out to be way off, initially ordered a Large but it wore like an X-Large, I exchanged it for a medium but this one I could barely fit in, bummer, felt like a small, gave away as gift.

On the positive side, the jacket is very warm. I've had it out for multi-hour hikes in 10-15F weather and was just fine. The metal zipper is nice too. The chest pocket is nice, but an inside chest pocket is missing.
What I don't care for is the fit. The torso is really long, which doesn't quite come through in the promotional photos. I was expecting it to be about t-shirt length or slightly longer, but it's probably an extra 3 inches beyond that, which combined with how poofy it is makes me look like a marshmallow man. I cinch up the waist so that it doesn't hang so low, but that only helps a little. For reference, I'm 6'3" 170 and have found the Medium Long sizes to be a perfect fit in every instance except this one.
The other thing I don't care for is the way the sherpa lining pulls whatever I'm wearing under it so that I have to adjust my shirt/sweater every time I put the jacket on - a minor annoyance, but enough that I think about it every time I put the jacket on and it becomes a factor in whether I want to wear it or not.
I bought this online and decided to keep it rather than go through the hassle of returning it, hoping that I would learn to live with the things I don't like about it. In hindsight, I wish I would have returned it.

This is a beautiful Jacket, but it is sized very large, hence I had to return.. I ordered Medium, and I would say this is even bigger than a Large in other jackets that I have had,

This appears to be a well made jacket, however the fit is not for me. I prefer a more tailored fit, so this jacket was returned.

Size issue like many other reviewers. Swimming in my usual LL Bean large. And yes, the arms are not fleece lined, but seemed hardly filled with down at all. Overall the jacket didnt feel substantial and not convinced it warranted Bean's warmest rating. Returned.

This review is largely based on personal preference. I wore the coat for about two hours at my brother's observatory 2,400 feet up a mountain in West Virginia. Temperature was about 40 degrees and I did not find the coat warm enough.
I also felt the overall build quality just didn't seem "tough" enough. I would definitely recommend trying this coat. It might be great for you, especially if you're not up all night at an observatory!

I can't use this jacket because it's VERY difficult to get on and off. Also, the side pockets should have zippers instead of snaps. I wish I had returned it, I just missed the return date while it sat in the closet all summer. I buy a lot of clothing from LL Bean, but I'm now reassessing my loyalties. I just bought a jacket from a competing vendor to replace this one, which I'll donate to charity. Really disappointed.

This jacket is disappointing due to its sizing. I am a med. all day long. The shoulders and waste are good, the arms are way too tight. If you have pencil size arms you will be happy with the fit. when trying other Bean jackets I found they all were tight in the arms. When I went to a different brand (LE) I found the fit was much much better.

I really wanted to like this jacket, as I found the styling very appealing. The fit was no good, though. Despite the description of "slightly fitted", the jacket was very boxy/billowy through the midsection and way too long. Sizing down wouldn't have been an option due to the shoulders being a good fit. The model in this jacket must be over 6 ft as I'm 5'10 and it was nowhere near "at hip" as described.

The jacket came and smelled TERRIBLE. It stunk up my house. I aired it out for several days and the smell still held. Customer service said to wash it, and blamed
Degassing from the packaging. You shouldnt have to wash a brand new jacket, and that shouldnt be the inital response from LL Bean.maybe from Shein.

I liked the way this jacket looks, and the construction was OK for the price. But I couldn't believe how far off was the fit. Everything I wear is L, and I ordered it in L, but this jacket was very tight even when I only wore a t shirt with it. Especially tight in the armpits. I appreciate LL Bean's return policy.
