I have worn this vest inside and outside of the house. I find it comfortable and warm. My concern is the back of the vest is shorter than I would like. Although I did not see it offered, I should have got a tall instead of regular fit. Wish I had a taller size!

Bought in 2015. Zipper has become very difficult to start. I've also found the zippers on 3 other LL Bean products purchased over the last few years (two polar-tech jackets and a vest) have started to malfunction.

Great traditional look.The zipper is hard to use and it takes multiple attempts before you can zip it up. A little big around the shoulders, otherwise this is a sweater for a lifetime.

I recently purchased a sweater for my husband's upcoming birthday. The sweater arrived the other day. I then received a notice about a 15% off sale that was just starting. Should I return the sweater and order it another time.? I am not vey happy that that happened. I do like the products from llbean, but this left a sour taste in my mouth. Please respond. Thank you

The size was M. but i did not see when I bought it that the vest was M for tall people. And the plastic bag had a odd-weird smell

Would have been nice with a bit of inner lining. My zipper hangs up at the bottom when trying to unzip and needs much fussing to get it off. Not what you expect for $70.

Such a good looking vest. The fit is perfect. This was a Christmas gift for my son. He loves the way it looks and how comfortable it is. Looks very well made too.

For the price I expected vest to be lined. It wasn't. Pockets are too small and need zippered closures. Warm enough when worn with wicked good flannel shirt to not need a coat at 40 to 50 degrees. A better value is the sweater fleece vest at about $30 less.

L L Bean is making too many articles of clothing " slimmer at the waist". If I order the next size then it's way too big.

Stand up collar is too short- a deal breaker, I sent it back. It's otherwise very nice. Let me know when the collar is higher and I'll re-purchase.

Love vests and hoped this would fit a female figure. Did not!

As others have noticed, the zipper is very hard to get started. It is too small for the vest. If you never unzip it and use it as a pullover with a zipper you will be fine. Otherwise, wait for a new model. Aside from the zipper issue the sweater is great.

I agree with some of the other reviews. The zipper is not up to Bean standards. It's difficult to place in the slot properly and initially it's difficult to pull up. However it's warmer than expected, otherwise well made and comfortable and for those reasons I didn't return it. It undoubtedly fits a wide range of sizes as you can judge by my ample measurements. With that caution about the zipper I would recommend this.

At first, I really enjoyed this sweater. It arrived right when the cold weather arrived, and I wore it mostly inside. It was warm and not itchy like some wool can be. Some people had negative comments about the stand-up collar, but if worn with a shirt that had a collar of its own, this didn't seem to be an issue with me. However, after only two weeks I started to have difficulty engaging the zipper. Even after carefully placing the two halves together making sure they were completely bottomed out in the clasp, I could not move it up but a fraction of an inch before it bound up and stopped. I could see only a few teeth had meshed together before it bound up. I tried unzipping and starting over multiple times, but it was apparent it was going nowhere. I was forced to return the sweater. LL Bean has always provided me with quality products and excellent service, but this particular sweater has a history of zipper issues, and I should've heeded other's advice. I will continue to buy from LL Bean because I think they are a good company, and they care about their customers.

Bought the XL Cinder in 11/2015. Initially loved this vest but quality problems have been building. 1. The vest pills very badly. Pilling is a sign of poor quality, short fiber, loosely woven wool. Due to its long fibers, tightly woven Merino wool is supposed to be a low pilling wool. I have some vintage Merino wool sweaters from the 1960's and they have never pilled. 2. The vest I got is not 100% wool. In addition to pilling badly, small pieces of some thin plastic material have been working their way out of the knit. When this started to happen, I went over the vest very closely with a light and pulled out at least 30 of these thin plastic pieces. I've never seen anything like this. Very weird. 3. The zipper is impossible. The contrast material is sewn too close to the bottom edge of the zipper, making it almost impossible to insert the bottom pin into the slider. 4. Collar is poorly designed. It doesn't lay flat and it is too tall. Very disappointed. This is the second item I have purchased recently from LLBean with serious quality issues. I would not recommend this vest to anyone.

I have several of these and I ordered a new one in March as they were out of stock. So seems the delay was that they bought from another mfg. and Now the Size/Fit is way off from the others. I bought Xl and it is now too small and too short compared to others which were very good fit. So buy bigger than you need or hopefully, they will go back to old vendor.

I bought 2 of these sweaters last year and decided to by Navy blue this year. Last years model has a fleece lining and is very warm, this years model is not lined and definitely not as warm. I am very disappointed and feel it is not worth the money.

The sweater is warm, soft wool and very handsome with the two-toned trim. However, when fully zipped up, the collar digs into the chin and neck and when zipped down one quarter, the collar either flaps open or its tips still dig into the neck. If the collar were a rib knit or had been designed to lay flat, the sweater would have been perfect.

I sent this item back. Thought it was to heavy, to pricy, and no ability to tighten up the bottom band so one could blouse it. Just did not like the style. The collar also stuck up and had these angles to it that I did not care for. Do like LL Bean though! They are the greatest!

They sent the wrong item. I got a sweater instead of the vest I ordered. Now I have to return it............Ugh

Buyer Beware! Item Never Received! Returned by another customer! LL Bean took no responsibility or ownership in their shipping department error! I received a refund for my purchase saying I returned the product. Hard to review an item that I never received. I will think twice before ordering anything from LL Bean!
