I've had it for 3 years, wear it every weekend duck hunting, also wear it out with jeans. It looks and fits and feels as good as the first day I wore it. It's warm and not scratchy. I also have the crew neck in dark blue that I love just as much. Both are easily in my top 5 articles of casual and hunting wear. You can't go wrong with these!

This is a great winter sweater with shoulder and arm patches. It's heavy weight and comfortable.

Precisely what I was hoping for - a very stout, warm, and comfortable sweater. The knit is thick without being too bulky and the shoulder and elbow patches should help increase its life. I appreciate the henley collar because it allows some ventilation unlike the normal crewneck version. I believe this sweater will last many years.

Really looks good and fits me well even with my big belly. Ho Ho Ho. Warm and can be used as a final layer when it's cold. Have worn it in low 40 degree weather. Made very well.

I have 2 of these sweaters now. It is a softer wool and tighter weave than the rag wool sweaters, I find it comfortable down to about 35 degrees with a standard long john under it and no wind. I also have 2 of the l.l.bean rag wool seaters and the commando sweater handles light wind much better. I spend a lot of time outdoors in the winter and this is my go to. The Fit said slightly fitted and I went with the XL Tall on this one and it was the right choice, everything else l.l.bean, I wear Large Tall (6'5" and 220lbs). I have worn the seater outdoors for a few months now and am doing the review after buying my second sweater. I think you would be hard pressed to find a better cold weather sweater for the outdoorsman.

My name is Michael Crowe I rate this sweater 5 stars for the following reasons. 1. The regular medium fits perfectly. I am 5'-7" tall and weigh 138 lbs. 2. The sweater is extremely warm and cozy. I ordered a second sweater of the same type, different color.

I looked at this sweater for a year before purchasing. One of the best sweaters I own. I bought the Loden Heather Green in a size Large. The green is like a dark olive green but does not look military. My age is 59, 5'8" tall, weight is ~200lbs. Fits perfectly. No bunching or sagging; lays nicely. Roll cuffs back ~2.5". Wore it four time this holiday season 2024 with dark green long sleeve henley underneath. Every time received compliments on it. Paired it with jeans and khaki chinos. This may be a wool sweater but is not itchy around the neck. Plan to buy other colors in henley model. Have been an LL Bean shopper since I was a kid- my father was a Bean shopper- back when the catalogs were newsprint. Well done LL Bean; Leon would be proud of this one.

This is a heavy sweater. I wear it on cold days to hunt. Works perfectly for that. Perfect for a layering system to stay warm on very cold days. Not for days above 50 degrees.

Just what I expected. It's become my go-to sweater for going out for morning coffee on cool fall mornings.

In a bout of nostalgia, I bought this sweater. I no longer have any of my uniform sweaters. I can say, however, that this sweater is far better than the MILSPEC sweaters that were issued to me back in the day. The wool is softer and thicker, and the sizing is better.

I am 6' 3.5" with no shoes on, and about 180lbs. i got the Large Tall and it fits perfectly. I don't know how anyone can say it's too long if you are tall. I am lanky and when I bend my arms, the sleeves don't push up my arm which is great!

Great sweater, black color is sharp, for me medium was too tight and large just a tad too loose, settled on the large, maybe offer a rich burgundy color as well

Excellent construction, fit and provides freedom f motion. Another plus that with a plaid shirt for an underlay this sweater proves good warmth outside during the autumn.

Wool is still best. Too much polyester makes a profit but looses customers. Jim V
