The Manistee is an lovely belt with sharp detailing that compliments both the Strand and Daltons exceptionally well. Managed to pick one up in bourbon before being discontinued (sad, I will miss the bourbon line). Have no doubt it will last a very long time. Terribly expensive, but in the end worth it.

The only reason it wasn't a 5 star because I paid full price. Belt was exactly as expected, good quality as usual.

I purchased this belt in two colors, brown and walnut, to go with my brown Park Avenues, and walnut Strand respectively. The brown is a perfect match with the Park Avenue, the walnut - not as much. The walnut belt is a shade darker than the walnut Strands. I'm a bit disappointed in that I specifically picked this belt to go with my Strands, and coming from the same manufacturer, I would have expected this to be a perfect match. Anyhoo, I will continue to wear them since I am not seeing a better option anywhere. So my only word of advice/request to AE is to please match this belt to the Strands.

Bought my first Manistee in Bourbon to match my AE Flatirons. Great match. Bought a second in walnut. Will order the black, no doubt, when I order my next pair of oxfords. Great style and I wear them with suits, khakis, jeans.

First, I love the belt. It was exactly what I was looking for to go with brogue burnished walnut Sanfords. There are a few things I should point out, though: 1st- while it says to order 2 inches above your pant waist, this proved a bad move for me: my waist is 33", which if I add 2" is 35". Now I figured I should have to round up to the nearest size, 36...but the belt is loose when on the last notch. Unfortunately, returning it wasn't an option, as I had had a family member bring it from the US for my wedding the following week in Israel. Fortunately, it didn't look noticeably large, but it certainly did nothing to hold my pants in place, and I at least noticed that there was plenty of left-over belt to tuck. I still wear it regularly, though, because although it can't help hold up sagging pants, it does look great, even with excess length. 2nd- Bear in mind (I didn't, though it really doesn't bother me now that I've realized it) that if you are matching it to similarly styled shoes (Sanford, Strand, etc.) in burnished walnut, that shoes will naturally get much more wear, and consequently lighten up more than the belt, such that they wont be the exact same color. They still match nicely, but others may dislike this. Perhaps certain types of shoe care products could correct it

The belts are unfortunately sized. They are measured from middle hole to end of leather strap excluding the buckle per elsewhere in the reviews. I'm consistently a 34 pant waist, but the 34 belt was too snug on the middle hole. The 36 belt was too big, and comfortably worked in the 4th hole (4th from end of belt). My other belts, in contrast, measure 34 inches from the buckle, not the strap. Just something to note. I kept it, but it's not out of 100% satisfaction

I have been an Allen Edminds customer for many years with seval pairs of shoes and belts. I have been wearing the same manistee belt for more than eight years and finally got a replacement. My first was beautiful leather with the same grain on both sides. The new one has a different black interior and the quality does not seen as nice as the original. I have since cleaned and polished my old belt and wear that more often as it is still better than what they are making now.

I used to buy these belts everytime I would replace my shoes. Luckily they are well made and last a long time, but the latest batch of mahogany belts do not match the strand shoe. Really unfortunate as that is one of the biggest selling points. Really hoping AE fixes this color issue, because I do like the size and quality of the belt

I bought an oxblood belt a few months ago and the difference in quality is undeniable. These new belts look badly made. The cuts of the design look cheap and made with no interest in pride or reputation. I hope this only reflects on the belts and not across the brand.

I appreciate its style more than a solid belt, but it's a fairly wide belt, i.e., looks quite old-man-ish. For what it's worth, I'm 22 and I'll be looking for a skinnier belt.

for an expensive belt its really thin. Doesn't seem like it will hold up as thin as it is. I was expecting something that would last a long time

The "dark chili" version of this belt just arrived. However, it looks exactly like the "brown" color. I'm wondering if it was simply a mistake or the coloring is just way off. Regardless, I'm disappointed these don't match my dark chili fifth avenues. I bought this belt simply to match them. I will probably return these -- odd that the belt is so expensive only to not actually turn out.

The leather appeared damaged and to have been worn before. Some of the threads were unraveled. I tried to exchange the belt but was told that was only allowed in store and I live in a city with an Allen Edmond so I had to keep it. Overall it felt like low quality for the price I paid and the quality I expect from a company like Allen Edmond. Disappointing.

I was disappointed, ti be frank. The belt is much too thick and heavy. It would be OK for heavy duty work in blue jeans or other heavy duty trosusers but I wear it around town. I almost sent it back, to be honest.

my only issue is that this belt only matches a select pair of shoes. i bought a pair of shoes that i really liked the style and i thought the belt would match because it was recommended to go with the shoes and it id not. so now i had to return the shoes because the company does not make a belt that matches the shoes. Poor Planning by Allen Edmonds

I purchased it to match some bourbon McAllisters and Daltons. At this price point I had hoped to have a belt I could get much more use out of; by less than 20 uses it had the kind of wear other belts take much longer to show. It seems like the top most layer is much thinner than other belts. The belt looks dry and old and is starting to crack. I do love the style and fit, just which it didn't wear so fast. Just know that these are fragile; I work in an office, and the belt goes from hook to my waist back on the hook and it now look like the picture attached. ( I had a much longer and detailed review that seems to have gone missing.)

I love the belt and have a fleet of AE belts and shoes. I've just had one problem with this belt since the second wear (have only worn it half a dozen times). The belt seems to be to wide causing the top and bottom of the leather to tear away when it rubs against the metal of the buckle. I could probably cover up the tear with a sharpe marker, but that kind of defeats the purpose of buying an expensive handmade belt.

I've purchased many things from AE, this belt is not up to their standards. It seems like the belt color was painted on and any rubbing on the belt reveals the raw leather color underneath. I also have a black one that is not much better.

I am great fan of AE shoes and have the Strand in Black and Walnut. The finish and quality speak for themselves and the moment you open the box and take out the shoes from their red bag, you fall in love with it. I am disappointed to say that I cannot say the same for the Manistee black belt that I brought at full price. First it didn't reach me for 3 weeks but AE Customer Service did Fedex it once I brought it to their attention. Isn't it all in the first look ? Well, this belt came in a Ziploc pouch and I was wondering why would they send an expensive belt in a Ziploc pouch? Doesn't the belt command the same request as the shoe? Well and then it had some minor scratch marks. That apart, the Manistee is supposed to pair with the Strand but the belt didn't have the same sheen or quality that I associate with AE. Simply put, it looked like it had been left in the sun for tad too long and was in need of some polish. I am undecided at this moment if I want to keep it or return it.

Craftsmanship has dropped the past few years. Stitching is elevated and rough, damaging pants with time. Leather also cracking sooner.
