This shoe deserves 5 stars for its looks, construction and comfort. Its only problem is that even the the wide size is too narrow.

The initial impression I had of these shoes was that of a high quality assembly with sturdy parts used. The rings around the lace holes are some kind of metal and the laces themselves seem to be some sort of rough nylon and plenty long. The shoes are a slightly different color than what was pictured online, but it is still a nice color. The stitching is tight and well done and the overall build is free of flaws. That said, the shoes were (and are) covered with scuff marks, some I was able to rub out with my finger and some were more stubborn. I was surprised to see the shoes in this condition right out of the box, but they would have accumulated some scuffs over time anyway and personally it's not too big a deal for me, but something of note that I thought I would share. The problem with the shoes is the size - something remedied by a simple return and ordering the correct size but not with out the hassle of shipping the shoes back and waiting for the new pair. I ordered men's 9.5 which I comfortably wear for shoes, but 9.5 on these ones was very loose and seemed way to big for my feet. If you have a half size like I do, order to the lowest whole size (9.5 to 9 or 10.5 to 10).

Love the look and construction of these shoes. The issue I had was with fit and comfort. The fit on the Medium D 11 1/2 is too roomy for my feet, so that my feet move around quite a bit as I walk. Makes the shoes feel clunky. I'm going to return them with regret, because they are great shoes in multiple respects.

Bean products usually fit me true to size, but these seem to run 1/2 size to large. Will return for a 9 because when they arrived the shoes seemed very comfortable and I look forward to years of comfortable miles in them, when I get the right size.

THE SHOES ARE GREAT . GOOD LOOK LIGHT WEIGHT CUSHEY GOOD FOR WORK AND LEISURE . I BOUGHT THE STONINGTON BOOT. AS WELL AT THE SAME TIME...I ORDERED SIZE 8 . SHOULD HAVE ORDERED SIZE 7, MY PROBLEM IS THAT I WORE THEM A BIT BEFORE I REALIZED THEY WERE TOO BIG, I GUESS I CAN'T RETURN THEM OR THE BOOTS...:(

Great design, but not as a work shoe. Suggest lighter, more flexible with more toe room

I've been wearing a pair of these for some time and like the look but not the fit. They fit ok when I first put the on but after a while they began to feel snug. I always wear a D but these seem extremely tight and won't stretch out just by wearing them. Is there a way to stretch them or is there a problem with them?

They look better in the picture than in person. Also, I my case the shoe contributed to a blister on my foot and a sore on my ankle. Since I can't return them now, I will donate them to a non-profit organization.

I like these shoes a lot but I'm having a difficult time finding the right size. I'm a size 12 but returned them for 11 1/2, which were still too large. I just received them in size 11 and still not right; heal slips even with inserts. I have a narrow foot so this is likely the issue, unfortunately. On the fence about keeping them. I appreciate the return policy but it gets expensive shipping them back.

They are overall comfortable, and look good for a business causal setting. I have very wide feet, a high arch, and a larger mid foot so out of the box they did feel tight, especially in the mid foot. Having said that I wasn't sure I was going to keep them at first so I decided to try to wear them inside my house for a while just to see how my feet felt. In the end I decided they would break in more and they did. I'm overall happy with them and would buy them again.

Although i love the design, fot and comfort, two pairs in a row had sole separation between rubber layers at the toe.

Good quality, nice style. Not very comfortable for walking a few blocks.

Love the look of these shoes but not as comfortable as I thought they would be

It is the perfect shoe. The fit and comfort are great. I have the distressed finish shown. I ordered a second pair a year later, assuming "Dark Coco" was the distressed finish as displayed. The second pair arrived and it was a solid dark solid brown shoe - sorta boring. I returned them.

These are good comfortable shoes. The only reason I am returning them is due to the fact that the 10.5 EE, my normal size, is much too large. I wore them twice. I even put in bigger insoles and wore heavier socks and still too long and wide.

Ended up returning them. I own a pair of the Stonington Oxfords in size 11D and they fit fine. The LL Bean site said I should be able to wear these in the same size. Wrong! Exchanged them for a 11 Wide and they were okay everywhere except the the toe area. Not enough room there. You would think shoe manufacturers would also widen the toe area along with the rest of the shoe when it is a wide.

Quality, fit, and looks just what I was expecting.

First impression is not great. The heel and ankle are very rigid and have created blisters on my heel and ankle. I expect that the shoes will break in but the process has been intense.

Shoe felt wonderful at first. Seemed to stretch out and now fit rather sloppy

Love the shoe, great comfort / fit. However, after wearing it daily for less than 2 months, the mid and lower portions of the sole are separating at the front of the shoe. I work an office job and average ~10k steps/day, i would certainly not describe this as "heavy" use. Disappointing quality. Will give it one more try (exchange) and if it falls apart again, I'll buy elsewhere.

So far, so good. But I can see that the sole will not last very long. After about 8 uses I can see deterioration of the rubber edges of the sole. Small amounts of rubber are being torn from bottom knife edges.

It fits about 1/2 size big. I wish I got a 10 1/2.

Not as sleek and sporty as shown in picture. Clunky, hard to brake in and more squared than picture depicts.

Come on LLBean. I have purchased this shoe 3 times. The first time I got the color on your website. The next 2 have been a dark brown. Just look at the photos in the 5 star reviews and you will see two different colors, a lighter brown and a darker brown. See my photos too. I am returning these because I don't want dark brown. It is a good shoe which is why I purchased it more than once but you need to advertise two different colors shades so people have a choice of what they are ordering and what they are going to receive.
