I like the shoes a lot and have bought about six pairs over the course of about four years because the eyelets don't last. The eyelets (that are third or forth from the top depending on the specific shoe) that are material and not metal break after about six - eight months. This has happened on all six pairs of my shoes. And no, I absolutely do not over-tighten my shoes.

This boot is an absolute nightmare to get on your foot. The back of the boot collapses and there is nothing to you to pull it up like an ankle loop. Once you get them on they are very nice hiking boots. If you are in a hurry, don't grab these shoes.

The hiking boot size is a half-size smaller than my walking shoe (same size) recently purchased.

I ordered a pair of these because my last pair of Lone Peaks finally wore out. The new version feels cheaper, smaller, not as much cushion when you walk. The toe box is smaller. My last pair didn't even need breaking in. These feel hard, not as comfortable. Won't be buying again.

True to size if you buy 1/2 size bigger to allow for socks. Without thicker socks, my normal size in a Paradigm would have worked. As another review said, they are very hard to put on even using the strap at the back. To take them off, you have to loosen the laces almost all the way down to the toe and then retighten them bit by bit when you put them on again. There are no grommets to hold whatever tightness you decide on around the ankle. The laces feel flimsy. I love my Paradigms, but I feel like these boots make my legs work harder even walking flat trails in the Midwest.

I have the Altra Lone Peak 7 trail shoes so thought the Lone Peak Hiker boots would be great, but no. They are soooooo narrow across my foot compare to my shoes that I wear almost every day. These boots are being returned.

I have purchased several of the lone peak hiker before and they have all been extremely comfortable, lightweight and breathable. This updated version is uncomfortable, extremely hot and material is very thick. Had to return.

My big toe still hit the end of the shoe and my fore foot moved too much, too much space.

Love the natural shaped toe box! Why do the mens selection of shoes always have vibrant color options but the women's are always muted & blah colors? Step up to the plate, Altra, and start something!

I just purchased the alta lone peak hiker 2. The hiker 2 is nearly impossible to get on. No pull at the back of the boot, which results in crushing the entire back of the boot, which will diminish the ankle support over time. The upper cloth loops are very prohibited when trying to tighten the laces.

I wear a solid 10 in other Altras. This is too small with a sock on. They're also hard to get on- no heel loop for a boot. The laces are very short, and they whole boot doesn;t have enough padding compared to other Altras that I own. I'm returning them. Altra: fix yout sizing, awful color choices, and poor quality. The quality has slipped.

The toe box is too narrow. You've changed the style of this hiking boot. I can't wear them.

The lacing system tears out almost immediately. Bad design.
