Very comfortable but cheap laces were used and the top lace notch is a eyelet instead of a hook. Makes it hard to loosen the laces enough to get the boot on and off.

I love the Long Peak series of shoes. I have a pair of Lone Peak 4 mids that I bought for climbing/hiking at Joshua Tree and which I wore almost immediately out of the box for a 15+ mile excursion with a double sock setup (liner + wool). Those shoes are still my everyday defaults when I just need to throw something on.
So I was really excited to see the new design for these. The grey/orange version is the nicest looking shoe Altra has come out with in ages. Bought a pair within a couple of days of release, ordered a half size up because I want to use these as everyday shoes and don't care that much about perfect fit. I couldn't even get my left foot into the shoe, no matter how much I loosened the laces. Since the right shoe was okay, I thought maybe that was just manufacturing issue. So I returned that pair and ordered a replacement pair.
Both shoes hurt with the new pair. The toe box is okay (although narrower than most Lone Peaks, I think), but there's something just behind the toe box that is acutely painful on the top of my foot when I try to wear these. I even tried with lightweight socks and they still don't fit. And of course, Altra isn't offering these shoes in other widths. So I guess I could order a full size larger, except there's already a significant amount of space in front of my toe. I don't think going up a full size is going to fit well in the rest of my foot, even if it does relieve the pain.
Bummer, I really wanted to like these.

Ugly looking design and ugly colors.

After the first 10mi hike, the left shoe developed an incessant squeak with every step. I ignored this until after only 43mi the sole delaminated from the boot upper. Not the quality I have come to expect from Altra!

I wore the lone peak hiker version 1 on my thru hike of the AT. It was the best shoe. I was very disappointed when I ordered version 2 and found out they are no longer vegan. Infact none of altras shoes are considered vegan now.

Loved the version ones, probably my favorite pair of shoes I've owned. Unfortunately wore through them eventually and had to replace. The version twos are a major downgrade. tongue and ankle are too long, shoes don't breathe as well, toe box doesn't feel as wide, and the new design just looks bad- available colors don't help either. Really hoping Altra will re-release the version ones in their original colors, as those were great!

Altra keeps trying to reinvent the wheel every year. The Lone Peak 6 Mid was THE most comfortable durable and greatest piece of foot wear ever created right down to color options. This one is horrible

I sent the shoes back because they are way too tight and narrow. I have purchased approximately 10 pairs of size 13 Altras in the past 6 - 8 years and I have had to return the last two pairs back because the sizing has changed for the worst. Sadly, I guess I will have to look at other options. I used to recommend Altra to all of my friends and family.

If you had made these solid brown, they would be military-compliant for daily wear. Instead, you made an ugly weird color combo boot that no one bought and is on sale 50% off everywhere. Maybe Topo Athletic will capitalize on this.

The back of the shoe is too lightweight and flimsy, and collapses when wrestling the boot on. The pull loop is too low and shaped wrong so not helpful. Laces are too long and light.

Have loved the lone peak trail running shoes, so when i looked for something with a little more ankle support, I naturally ordered a pair of these in my usual size 13. After a season of trying to break them in, I now realize these are just not the same shoe with a high top. They really just fit smaller, tighter, and as a result brutalize my toes. Unfortunately, with size 13 feet (in the low top lone peak, 13 is perfect. Lots of toebox room without feeling too big) no half size larger exists and I have never seen a 14 in stock. If I had the ability to go up a half size or so, I think they would be great. But lacking that ability, Im stuck looking for another shoe.

One of the shoe lace "tabs" broke the first time I tried them on. I loved my previous 2 pairs of Lone Peaks, but these were a total disappointment.

The "eyelet tab" ripped away from the shoe the first time I attempted to lace them up. My previous pair of Lone Peaks were awesome; unfortunately, this pair wasn't built with the same quality standards.

These boots seem to run very small. I was excited for the "wide " toe box and foot shaped design but they are very narrow. There's also not much space from top to bottom and they squeeze the heck out of my feet! The left boot I have is so tight it's cutting off circulation lol what a joke ! These used to be great but these new boots are not the same . As others have said they are also super hard to get on and off even with all the laces undone. Not sure if they will stretch and wear in or if I should just return them now. Big bummer

Absolutely the hardest pair of shoes to put on I have ever owned. I would recommend the developers take another look at these. After you get them on though they are very comfortable as are all your shoes.

I'm not sure what kind of material they're using on these now But it's the absolute worst. It's a total struggle getting them on and off my feet now. They also don't have the quick hook release at the top of the boot. I've been buying these boots for years because they're the most comfortable boots out of the box. After my daily 3 mile hike with 1000 feet of elevation, my feet are sore by the time I'm done. These by far are the worst, I dread putting them on every day and taking them off. I also contacted the customer service with zero response.

Altra, why'd you stop making regular all-black neutral colorways. I've owned the same pair of LP4 Mid for 3 years. These were an incredibly popular color, but now you make things we (MIL) can't wear.

What did you do to these shoes? You ruined them. And whoever designed these with the colors should be fired. Over and over again. Please go back to doing what you do best. This shoe and color design is not an option for me as your customer.

The lone peak hiker changed my life. The lone peak hiker 2 ruined my life. The 2 has too much around ankle and kills the original feel of a light but supportive shoe. Also the 2 has zero breathability.

Why would you discontinue the Khaki?!!!! It was the nicest color option of all of your mid-height boots. Also, who wants a white sole on a hiking shoe? This is an option on some of the other tyles/colors. The shoes are great, the color options are horrible. I came back to the site to reorder the shoes for my husband, as his are worn out, and the colors are making it very difficult to want to purchase. I am going to have to ask him if he wants one of these ugly color options, or if he wants to find a new shoe. My suggestion- don't fix what isn't broken, and make the Khaki option in many of your styles (or a similar color palate).

You have chronically over the years have made the Lone Peak worse, and this is the icing on the cake. Your breath ability has decreased, your toe box keeps shrinking, your durability goes up and down every year with every series, your color selection is minimal, your tread is hot or miss every year, and now with this new version it is so stiff that it is chore to get on and off.
3.5 and 4.0 was fantastic. You guys jus r keep making things worse. Our Feet tell the story, not you. It's like you have a design team that needs to make all these micro changes to what was an amazing product, and now that product is so unrecognizable it's become Frankenstein's monster. Here's a good model: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
You guys obviously are getting terrible (or should be at the least questionable) internal testing feedback.
This new version is a -2 out of 10.

I've been an avid user of Altra shoes for several years now. The lone Peak four mid hikers were amazing. The last two designs of the lone Peak mid hikers, I cannot go more than 3 miles without getting blisters. I have tried putting tape on my heels with right socks and tie, blister socks everything nothing will stop this new design from giving me blisters. Also, the new lone Peak meds are not as wide in the toebox as previous versions. Can the company please go back 3 to 4 years and continue making those shoes again?

Which they offered them in all black I bout the original hiker and had to paint the white midsole black.I love the feel and style of them but it's very annoying having to re apply black paint every few weeks. Just make an all black colorway already Altra!!!!
