I've been with Altra now for the last two years. I started with the Torin 5 and Rivera 2. Both lacked heel/Achilles support. This has now been resolved with a more secure rear for the 6 and 3. I'm ecstatic. I really enjoy a firmer shoe and now that the Rivera has a bit more of a secure structure to the rear, this will be my go to shoe.
Thanks Altra for listening to your customer feedback.
If I had to critique the Torin and Rivera, I would say, firm up the Torins sole a bit and extend the heel/Achilles, like the Torin, to the Rivera.

Having liked the Rivera 2 in the past but feeling it could use a little more underfoot, I was very excited for this version to come out. The version 3, exceeded my expectations. The additional 2 mm of cushioning, is really a game change and provides me with the cushioning feel that I felt was missing in the 2. The size is true to size but the forefoot may feel a little snug to those looking for the traditional Altra wider toe box. This is built on the slim last and while it did not feel too snug, I could definitely feel the shoe on my foot, which is what I was looking for in this specific Altra.

Buy 1/2 size bigger than you normally would. Shoes work great for many miles of walking. The heel is tighter than normal, front is wide. Will definitely purchase brand in future

The Altra Rivera 3 is an awesome shoe but I can't run it it. I have very narrow feet and although this shoe is more narrow in the Altra line, it is just too wide in the toe box for me. This is a very nice show though and will be great just for everyday wear since I don't feel comfortable running in it. If you do have a wider foot and are accustomed to a zero drop shoe, this is one to put on your list.

Fit was great. These are the best shoes I've found for flat feet. They are the most comfortable for exercising, I find.

This brand doesn't sell a Narrow so these Slim Fit are the closest they have. And they worked out great. There aren't many other sneakers out there with zero-drop and narrow/slim. Fit was great and they are very comfortable.

My 12 YO track running son loves these shoes! This is his first pair of zero drop/wide toe box, Altra shoes. It's all I will buy form here on out. I love them, my kids and husband too.

I’ve now owned four pairs of Altra Riveras. These are my favorites yet. The toe box is roomy, which I look for, while maintaining a sleek look for the shoe overall. The color contrast between the shoe and the laces makes these shoes an eye-catcher.

Amazing shoe! Currently have 250+ miles on these shoes, which were my first pair of road shoes ever. Absolutely love this shoe, the width is great for runners new to zero drop shoes, durability has been satisfactory, and comfort is a great balance between cushion and response. I plan on putting another 100-150 miles before replacing these shoes, potentially with a shoe with a slightly wider toe box (standard).

Since finding Altra, I've slowly been converting the majority of my gym shoes over to them. I've been extremely impressed. I don't even think about my feet on runs or while at the gym any longer.

As of today, I have 474 miles on these Rivera's. I have enjoyed every mile. They have been my go to daily miler, and can pick up the pace if needed. Great fit, great ride, I'd say foam held up well.

I'm 6'6" and 235 lbs, with odd shaped feet. I've dealt with plantar fasciitis for years. I switched to the Rivera 3 several months ago and after about two weeks of wearing them, my plantar fasciitis eased and has not returned. It's made me an Altra foot fit system believer. The Rivera 3 is a very comfortable and supportive shoe. Top notch. My size and activity level puts some wear on them a little faster than other brands, but to not have the plantar fasciitis pain, I'll gladly go through a pair of shoes a couple weeks earlier than another brand.

I am on my second pair of Rivera's. My favorite running shoe I have ever owned. They work well for trail running as well. They also last a relatively long time. I have ~250 miles on my current pair and they are still in great condition.

At my podiatrist's recommendation, I needed a supportive comfortable, every day zero-drop shoe for my narrow feet, while dealing with Morton's Neuroma. The Rivera 3 checked all the boxes. I am no longer a runner, but still enjoy walks and hikes on roads and trails, and find the RIvera 3 very comfortable for any length of walk. With a B width foot, I often have trouble with standard width shoes feeling loose, particularly in the heel, but the narrow-width Rivera 3 fits me very comfortably and is supportive, and is neither tight nor loose. I replaced the insoles with my custom orthotics and they have been working well. The roomy toe box is great and I believe is helping to reduce the neuroma by letting my toes spread out more than in most of the shoes I have worn previously, before I understood the importance of toe room. I find the cushioning of the soles very comfortable. Close to the ideal shoe for me. Thanks, Altra!

So far have 100 miles on these and I honestly look forward to lacing them up each time. Easy runs, tempo runs, or long runs, they have the staying power. Usually wear 10.5 in most shoes but have been buying 11s in these to allow for some swelling and splay.

Use for both of my 2 jobs. Heel took a bit of getting used to due to it being thinner but it formed to my heel in 2-3 weeks. Toebox creased which is annoying. Wish size 15 black would be available.

I have been running recreationally for 30+ years and have run in numerous brands over the years (Asics, Saucony, Inov 8, Altra). I recently switched from a pair of Rivera 1s (my first pair of Altras) to the Rivera 3. I like both shoes a lot. The updated version feels like it has more cushioning, which translates to the shoe feeling springier compared to the Rivera 1 in my first 10 runs. For me, that's an improvement. Although I still consider this a neutral shoe, it's edging towards cushioned without quite crossing the line. I feel like it helps me turn my legs over, especially when I am a bit fatigued.
Style-wise, the Rivera 3 is a huge improvement over the Rivera 1. The 1s were ugly. I tend not to consider looks too much when buying a running shoe, but the improved styling means I am more likely to continue wearing the Rivera 3s to walk around in after they wear out as running shoes. (Escalante 3 look even better, but I prefer the fit of the Rivera.)
Regarding sizing, I bought mine a half size over my normal running shoe size and one full size above my dress shoe size. The Rivera 3 seems less narrow than the 1, but I still think a half size up is the right call.

Use this as a walker primarily. Occasional runs. It is comfy and softish with out losing support. I say true to width acknowledging this is a slim with Altra. Easy, sleek shoe that packs well and is ready for anything. A good travel shoe.

I received these shoes in exchange for my honest review. So I'm a runner, and I have ran 6 marathons plus many smaller runs and to be honest at first I thought the front was too wide but over time I started liking them and seeing how my feet felt happy over longer distance. No longer pain from them feeling tight like other shoes. I would say give them a try and just give them a couple runs to break in. So comfortable and stylish.

I usually have a difficult time finding shoes that do not hurt my feet after running. These are extremely comfortable! No blisters or cramping, and I can run for as long as I want without having to stop to nurse my feet. They are a game changer! They fit true to size. Aside from feeling great, they are stylish and sleek. You don't have to trade style for comfort with these.

I receive a free sample of these shoes to try and they have exerted my expectations for comfort! They are very light with nice cushion to keep your feet feeling great after and walk or run. I got the dark blue version, which visually are ok, but I think I like some of the other color way options better.
