Good shoes, but too narrow. My fault for not researching greater into the width.

I love the look and fit on my foot with the shoe. The wide toe box is great. However! The material used on the inside of the shoe sucks my heels were slipping on my initial couple of runs because of the smooth slick material on the inside. Additionally the lace's material, length and them being round instead of flat made trying to use the last eyelid difficult. They also come undone a lot even when I double knot them.

As a longtime Altra fan, I am disappointed in the past couple of pairs of shoes. The original Rivera's were ok but the left tongue always slides into the outboard side. I have had a few pairs of Escalante's, a bunch of Superior's, 2 pair of Timp's and a few discontinued models. By far, the best pair of running shoes I have ever run in were the 4. The stack height and feel were perfect, why did you change them?
My wife got me the Rivera 3's for my birthday and they fit well, felt great on my first few runs but yesterday I saw that the soles were already starting to come apart. I really wanted to like these but with the sole coming apart its hard, I guess I'll have to glue it and hope it's going to hold and not spread.
Come on Altra, i really really dont want to have to find another brand after a good relationship of almost 10 years.

Loved these when I got them but after two days the fabric inside the shoe at the toe folded and was rubbing my big toe.

I like that the shoes are light weight and wide but it still feels uncomfortable when I wear them for long time. The upper layer seems very thin and the material where the toes touch the upper layer is weird too. I like the cushioning for the light weight they are.

The Rivera 3 is wider than the original Rivera . The yellow is more a pale yellow rather than the bright "orangy" yellow in the pics.

Oh, forget it. Altra shoes 0 drop is not for me at all. Tried one more time with an altra shoe, and this one had too much pressure (arch) whatever under my foot. My right foot caused me so much pain today, took them off and also made my right heel pain flare up out of no where. (new symptom). I won't be ordering Altra 0 drop shoes anymore.

This shoe digs into my achilles and gave me really bad blisters and heel pain the first time i wore them. Tried them for a second run/walk with thicker/taller socks, same thing happened - very disappointing! Maybe it's just my body? They're super comfortable everywhere else other than that, and have great cushion while still maintaining the zero drop and wide toe box features that I love about Altra. I have worn other styles of Altra shoes without anything like this happening, including the Torin and Escalante styles.
I'd also recommend:

This is my third pair of Riveras. The toe box in the Rivera 3 is significantly more narrow than the Rivera 2. Why the change? Altra is supposed to be known for wide toe boxes, gone from this shoe.

Nice styling and color (yellow). But for me, there is way too much flex in the show as well as feeling too cushy.

I am distance runner. The Rivera 3 is fits well and great for stabilization. However, would not recommend this shoe for long distance running. Purchase this shoe in August 2023. With in 39 days, the right shoe tore up my right heel up. Not great quality shoe.

I had the Rivera 1 and loved those (despite parts of the outsole falling off and not having quite enough cushioning for longer runs). Picked these up after learning they added a bit more foam to the midsole, and while I loved the underfoot feel, the upper construction is terrible. It's basically one big unstructured piece of cheap mesh, making the Rivera 3 look and feel cheaper than some shoes that I can buy at my grocery store that cost half the price. Altra has come a long way with their upper designs in models like the Provision and Torin, and I'd understand if this was a sub-$100 entry level shoe, but for this price, other brands are offering engineering knits or jacquard mesh uppers that perform much better. This shoe just screams "VF wants us to get our margins up." After ripping through uppers or having outsoles peel off of several Altra models in the past few years, I returned these early. I just can't trust this brand to deliver in terms of durability and quality, and these just don't feel like they're remotely worth the price.

I put a note in the box as I have been sent the same pair at least twice. They were not womens 10.5 but MENS. Way too big.

After owning both the original Rivera and the Rivera 2, I found these unstable and did not want to risk spraining an ankle. The new last is narrower in the ball of the foot. Had to return.

Shoes are as expected, but the light blue colorway is hideous in person. Altra wouldn't honor my Black Friday sale pricing on an exchange, so I'm stuck with them (unless I pay $40 more dollars).

Just like Escalante 3, Torin 6, the Rivera 3's are not true to size and are way too small. I wear a size 15 so I can't size up. Altra used to be great for there wider toe box but that's not anymore.

VF acquired Altra and completely changed the shoe, removing significant amount of cushion in the heal. As you can see it's nonexistent. These shoes cause my heels significant pain. I'm very disappointed and am now hesitant to try other Altra products. RIP to another great shoe company.
