I have just bought the Peregrine 13 and i already have the Xodus Ultra, so now i have the new Xodus Ultra2, i think the plate is a little harder than the Peregrine which helps me on the rocky downhills and is thus very stable, hard to beat that Peregrine13 but to my opinion it does! Great shoe my favourite so far

Great confort. I have wide feet and they fit perfectly. A bit warm if I compare to the peregrine serie.

I am so impressed, these shoes are so amazing! I do some trail running in Southern California and love the hills. I have not tried these shoes in mud yet but on rock and up hard sandy hills these have been outstanding. They are comfortable and my feet are loving them. I may have found my #1 brand of shoes...

Had these shoes for about a month and have been running 5-6 miles with them 3-4 times per week. Overall this is comfortable shoe, but the stretch laces are terrible as it takes too long to adjust them to the correct tightness. Regular, non-stretch laces would be much more efficient and take the guess work out of tightening the shoe.

These are really good trail shoes. They feel perfect as soon as you put them on. That said, I'd prefer to see a revamp with more energy return. Think triumph but for trail if you know what I mean. But if you need a solid quality long distance trail shoe this one fits the bill.

Not sure why, but these don't fit the same as my previous pair. Both size 13. The new ones are significantly tighter in the toe box.

If Saucony would update their trail outsoles, these would be the holy grail of trail shoes for me. As it is, I own three pairs of these and have run about 750 miles in them combined. Super comfortable and accommodating yet still quite nimble and bouncy when picking up the pace. Unfortunately, the current PWRTRAC outsoles lack both grip and durability compared to other options. The outsole wears rather quickly and the lugs will actually chip/break if used on rocky terrain.

Based on local trails, initially I was looking at picking up the Peregrine. Based on a number of reviews, I ended up picking this shoe up for perceived versatility. I hasn't disappointed. Fit is secure, comfortable, and provides confidence inspiring ground feel. My longest sustained run in it is 20km. Nothing really to complain about. It's a pretty 'honest' shoe. It's not the fastest (neither am I). It's not the lightest. It does provide decent comfort, good ground feel, and a 'security'. There are a number of lacing options to ensure a 'customizable' fit. It's a 'warm' shoebut ventilation with durability and security would be a tough ask. That said, as your feet warm in the shoe, the positive features of it (comfort snd ground feel) seem to be enhanced by it. Where my local trails are not technical at all and are better suited to racier, lighter shoes, overall I'm pleased with the versatility these provide!

I've got 100km on these shoes and really like the feel of them, they are squishy but stable and the outsole grip is fantastic. They also look great! If I was to ask for one chnage in the fit it would be some more space in the toebox as they do rub my pinky. One concern I have is the durability, I've already torn the lace garage while stuffing in the laces, some lugs have started to shear off, and I can see some abrasion on the inside toe that I think will turn into a full rip in another few hundred kms.

Really enjoying this shoe. Broke them in with a couple of very short trail runs (8mi total), to confirm there were no hot spots before a big trip to YNP. Immediately put dozens of miles and ft of elevation backpacking and day hiking. First word that comes to mind is "Love"! There are so many options and combos of specs to choose from, these days. This combo of stack height, drop, and features just happen to work perfectly for me. Only caveat- if these shoes were being designed for me, I would ask for just another 5-10mm width in the toe box. Other than that, they fit my 9.5 foot as normal, great grip and great trail feel w/ enough cush to keep dogs from barking. Got caught in a soaking afternoon storm, they vented well and were completely dry and ready for the next mornings hike. Totally satisfied with this shoe!

I purchased this shoe as my daily trainer while I am finishing a 6 month deployment in Somalia. It is to replace my Hoka SG5 which I love, but they have worn down immensely in 4 months and 580 miles. I have done in-depth research on all things running shoes and landed on the Saucony Exodus Ultra 2 to replace my Speedgoats for the remainder of my trip. I am running 3-10 miles a day on loose gravel and hard packed desert ground. On occasion it will rain and everything will flood making it very "soupy" for a few days. The Speed goats lasted roughly 3.5 months which is why I ordered the Sauconys. The shipping took a little over 3 weeks to get here but I mean it is Africa. I bought the shoes for the reviews I watched on YouTube. Many runners swore by these shoes and they seemed very nice. My first run was a quick two mile around the camp after my morning workout. It had rained the night before and the ground was mushy. First thing I noticed putting the shoes on was how snug the toe box is. I have wide feet, I didn't see a wide option but many of the reviews mentioned that the toes box wasn't as tight as other trail shoes. Well this one is definitely tight, I wouldn't say Solomon speed cross tight (which is one of the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever worn) but it is close. I spent approximately 20 minutes fidgeting with the shoe laces to get them just right. To where my toes had more room but my foot was still secure. Not a great start. Once I got my laces the way I liked them I started my run and instantly noticed how comfortable and plush the run felt. Eaxh stride felt easier than the last and the tread was wonderful! Much better than the hokas (Hoka still has saucony beat for toe box, which is huge to me). After mile 1 I kept feeling like my feet were super cramped in the shoe. Not a huge factor as I just ignored it but I plan on doing a half marathon at the end of the month and will see how it feels as my feet swell. All in all I would recommend these to a friend. Hopefully mine break in well and the toes open up some! Why don't they make this in a wide? Saucony has a great shoe here a close second to my precious speedgoats.

After 100+ miles, here's my review of the Xodus Ultra 2, going from worst features to best. Grip- Zero out of 5! On wet roots and rock, the grip is awful, downright scary in fact! The most slippery shoe I've ever run in, in moist conditions, by a wide margin. Grip in dry conditions is fine. Breathability- 2/5. This shoe is far less breathable than average. After only an hour of running in hot humid conditions, my feet get so damp I can squeeze water out of my socks! I dont have overly sweaty feet, and have never had this issue before, even after running a warm 50k ultra. Bizarre! Hopefully this won't be an issue in cooler weather. On to the good stuff... Fit- 5/5 Excellent! Saucony's generally fit me well, and this one is super comfy! Durability- 5/5 so far. No noticeable wear to the upper or tread. Midsole- 5/5 Amazing! This is one of nicest midsoles I've ever experienced. Plush and still lively, really fun to run in. This shoe also runs very well on the road, which you're usually going to have a few sections of in an ultra. The rock plate is very good also. It does it's job, without you noticing it's there. Overall- 4/5 This is a very good shoe, with a few glaring flaws. Please Saucony, switch to a much more grippy tread compound, and improve the breathability, (and maybe drop the offset to 4mm) and you will have a true Speedgoat killer! I'm hoping to use these for a 100 miler in the fall. But if conditions are likely to be wet, or unusually warm, I def will choose a different shoe, with a Vibram MegaGrip tread.

I tried the first Xodus Ultra last year for long distance trail/mountain running in Colorado. I had to abandon the shoe because the ankle collar rubbed and bruised my ankle bones! The new XU2 has a more comfortable ankle collar for me and so far is a very comfortable and enjoyable shoe for long days on the trail. I have probably 50 or so miles and I'm confident these will perform great in mountainous ultramarathons. The midsole is perfect cushion and my feet felt fresh after 6 hours on tough trails on my last long run. The outsole has felt grippy on plenty of rough and technical terrain, though I've noticed a few slips on angled wet rocks but it's tough to say that wouldn't occur in other shoes. The fit/feel is a good balance of room in the toes and snug in the midfoot for just enough precision on technical downhills- I haven't had any rolls or trips or sloppy footing in these. The comfy stack has felt pretty stable, doesn't feel like a tippy max cush shoe. My only complaint is that the heel lockdown isn't seamless for me, I really have to be mindful about my sock choice and crank those laces down- to the point that I worry that some of the eyelets look like they might tear, and then I am left with some long tied laces with no band to hold them in place- and no gaiter attachment ring. But these are things I can live with for the overall feel and performance. This is a great shoe and I look forward to many long mountain runs in these!

This is a great shoe with a nice fit and good cushion. The Xodus Ultra (v1) had a collar that really dug into my ankle, bu that has been mostly fixed in v2. I only have two complaints: (1) with the "sleeve" that wraps around your foot, I suspect these shoes will be hot in the summer and (2) I wish Saucoy would go to a regular lacing system with eyelets since I believe this would allow me to better dial in the fit.

Fantastic trail shoe. A big upgrade to the peregrine line up in my opinion. Cushion is perfect. The upper is very nice and between that and how my heel sits deeper I n the shoes(compared to the peregin12)provided a great lock down. My only complaint is traction could still be better. PNW runner and these will be my go to pair of trails shoes.

I'm rewriting a review after more time in these shoes. I love the fit, comfort, and ride in these shoes. With multiple 6-10hr days running and hiking on rugged mountain terrain, my feet have not felt beat up, yet these still feel not overly-midsoled and are light and nimble enough to tackle technical terrain (the ankle collar is much more comfortable for me than the XU1!). Running in dry Colorado trails, the traction of the outsole gets the job done. However, running in damp Scotland mountain terrain, the traction was a bit of a trainwreck. They felt great on my feet on my 50k race, but I had lots of slipping on damp rocks and grassy hillsides--my friend with Hoka Speedgoat 5s had much less a problem. I think Saucony needs an update on their rubber compound, if not just going with Vibram! Also, perhaps the most glaring issue is the upper material ripped after maybe 60miles (Saucony did send a replacement). I would buy again if they updated the upper mesh (like the Peregrine 13?), and rolled out a new outsole compound.

Huge fan of this idea, feels like the perfect mix of the lighter Peregrine and older xodus. That said I've already experienced the bottom sole breaking down very quickly on all three pairs I have owned. I wonder if the streamlined design has come at the cost of durability. I feel this shoe is so close to being the perfect trail runner/hiker in concept. I'd love to slightly better rock guard and much better sole durability. The knobs have worn down much more quickly than past xodus and peregrine and the toe wrap has started peeling. Shoe is very comfortable and stable on the more rocky terrain the trails afforded us out west. Also, can we please get a blacked out version. The colors are cool and all but it'd be nice if the muted offering was always an option.

I LOVE the original Xodus Ultra trail shoe. I was excited for the v2 of this model. Wasn't much I didn't like about the original other than the laces would loosen up, and you had to tighten them after an hour or so of running. Saucony updated the upper to fix that in the V2 model, and they did a good job with it, however the material change for the upper is not nearly as durable. It holds onto moisture and weakens quickly, then started to tear after only a 100 miles of trail use. I now have holes along the inner sections of the shoes where it bends. Everything else is fantastic, but a shoe is worthless if the upper can't outlast the life of the sole. The shoe is really comfortable on the trails, has pop and is fast, it's just really unfortunate the upper has issues.

Bought for a 100 mile ultra in June. Have only put 96 miles on them in training and already have holes in the upper. Not the kind of quality I'm used to getting in my Saucony shoes. Not happy.

I'll start with the good, a lot of protection under foot, I run in the rocky rooty north east and the offset suits the shoe well. The bad, I had the peregrine 13 and loved them but wanted a little more comfort so I went to these. 1. Heavier so not as snappy and responsive 2. When stepping on rocks on the outer part of the sole, the shoe rolls up, foot slides around inside 3. No loop for waiters to attach to 4. Outer part of the shoe comes up too high and rubs ankles 5. My foot doesn't feel secure in the shoe, lacing is funky. Yes, they're the right size and I have 80 miles on them.

Initial thoughts and break in were great! Loved them! Didn't work for race day though. Seemed like the terrain was an issue and the shoes started moving all over. I had to switch pairs at the halfway point.
