Too tight on the top of my foot and a bit narrow for me.

i am so upset with this purchase. i work on my feet at a very active/outdoor job that includes rugged terrain and lots of climbing. i had heard nothing but good things about hokas so decided to try these out as my first pair. as soon as i got them i was disappointed. they were not nearly as comfy as everyone made them out to be. they definitely have a lot of support but did not have "plush" comfort in any way. even with my own insoles my feet would ache at the end of a simple 8 hour shift. and i mean ACHE. for DAYS. i got the goretex as well due to the nature of my job but it honestly did not make any difference. i even wore them for a month with the hopes of breaking them in. absolutely no luck, and now i can't even return them. i took a chance on these shoes because i'd heard such amazing things and i'm honestly SO disappointed. they aren't as durable as i was hoping either. and only waterproof for about an hour of rain. after reading the reviews i went a half size up and they fit fine, maybe a little too big (but i KNOW the 8 would've been too small) so if you're thinking of buying these shoes, i would recommend sizing up, and return them right away if you don't like them because they will not get broken in.

The shoes fit well comfortable as all my Hoka shoes are, but I did not like the sick green color tending toward teal .

Disappointed as otherwise nice. I ordered medium width (I have quite narrow feet). A wide would not solve the problem- it is too shallow in height over the toe joint (and a normal toe, not a bunion etc). (also a wide doesn't suit the rest of my foot and my narrow heel)

I don't want to knock the shoe everyone seems to be wearing, but in size 11 (women's) it looks terribly clunky on my feet. I look like Yeti. So, it may not be the shoes' fault, but they don't look good on me.
I'd also recommend:

Bought these as recommended by my doctor. He said it would be like walking on marshmallows. They were stiff and hard and NOTHING like walking on. marshmallows. And they're crazy expensive. For the same price I ordered 2 pairs from an ortho shoe site.

I was so excited to get my Hokas but they are hurting my left toes. Not sure why but not as comfortable as I thought they would be.

This is my first HOKA purchase, and I can honestly say it won't be my last. These shoes are perfect for my 10-hr nursing shift. My feet aren't tired or sore by the end of a long day, and the shoes are very lightweight. My feet are on the narrow side, so shoes often slip on my heel, but not with these. They are definitely worth every penny and are my most comfortable sneakers by far.

My last pair of Hokas were great. This time one shoe fits perfectly and the other one is uncomfortable tight. I'll see if loosening the laces helps. Otherwise I'll have to return them.

At first they felt super comfy. I liked the cushioning. I walk for a living (mail carrier) and halfway thru my route the top of my left shoe was rubbing my big toe. I thought it might be a "breaking them in" issue but I couldn't wear them for long the next day. I currently wear my Hoka Challengers but I'm looking for their replacements now. The search continues. Oh, and I had read reviews that they run small, so I had ordered them a half size bigger than my usual size.

I bought the challenger GTX because I wanted a light, waterproof trail runner to use hiking and dog walking in a variety of conditions, and because it comes in interesting colours compared to other GTX models. For years I have bought the speedgoat GTX . I love the vibram that is secure on slippery surfaces, it has a great responsiveness on the trail and pavement, and the waterproof quality lasts for about a year. While the colour is interesting, the Challenger feels very different. It doesn't have the structure of the speedgoat nor the responsiveness. It feels like a worn pair of sneakers, or cheaper sneakers from another brand. The nonvibram sole feels a bit slippery on wet sidewalks. So, I was left thinking that this shoe does not have that great Hoka feel. I'll be returning them.

I am a longtime Hoka customer, but these are my favorites so far. They are light but stable, great traction and water resistant. I purchased them for golfing this Spring and have been pleasantly impressed with their warmth and comfort.

Bought a black pair of these Hoka's to wear on a trip. The weather was rainy and having the waterproofing was a lifesaver. Was able to wear them walking for miles a day while sightseeing and also to the gym for weight workouts! Feet were COMFORTABLE. No blisters or problems whatsoever. I give them 5-stars for comfort and versatility. On appearance, I would give them 4-stars because they look bulky. I prefer a sleeker looking shoe.

First of all, these were the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever put on my feet. There was zero comfort and support, and I was shocked at how unpleasant they are to wear. Secondly, upon opening the box I was heavily disappointed - the material looks cheap which I didn't expect for this price point, and the fabric part of the shoes had wrinkles that would not dissipate after unboxing. I considered an exchange in hopes another model would be less unpleasant, then changed my mind and went for a return because I highly doubt the quality will vary much from one shoe to another in the same brand line. I opted for a pair of Brooks, and am happy with that purchase. The good news is, customer service was fantastic and very helpful.

Only issue is the grips at the bottom seem slippery when some areas are wet from the rain or humidity. I hope the ground where I'll be hiking ( Japan ) won't be slippery.

This shoe has a strange arch support that just doesn't work for me, it rises in a weird alignment to my foot unlike other arch supports in shoes I have. It is also too narrow and squishes my toes. Going back!

So far I've only used them for shorter distances up to 6 miles. I love how they are waterproof and not stacked as high as my bondis I race in. I was gifted these from Achilles International for winning the Hartford Half in the AWD (athletes with disabilities) division. I always use Hokas and I'm happy to add this to my collection. Ty Hoka you make running as a para athlete that much easier! I also love the color so cars see me! I'm also a pedestrian trauma survivor who was unfortunately hit while running and these colors help me feel that much safer. If you ever need an Hoka One One ambassador let me know haha! You make Amazing shoes!!!! TY for making the best shoes ever!
