I had the Rincon which I enjoyed but the Clifton 9 has no lateral support and caused knee and back pain after two days! Like walking on Sponges with shoe laces! Too much cushion and no lateral support; looks cool but DON'T BUY!! It was like I was walking on a bowl of jello with no end to the jello! I walk 5-7 miles a day and this shoe nearly crippled me in two days of just walking, I can't imagine running in these and not falling over! BIGGER IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER Hoka!

They are very narrow and caused a lot of pain on my toes/the side of my feet. I wore them twice and couldn't wear them after that. They gave me a blister on the side of my foot as well.

Gorgeous looking shoes, excellent workmanship but impossible to wear. I loved the arch support and so wore them a few times while outdoors. The design is really off. The sole doesn't bend at all, it rocks as you walk. That's good for plantar fasciitis but if you have balance issues like I do it's a recipe for disaster. The firm but spongy arch support is too high and I wobble as I walk. The shoes don't allow a normal heel to toe gait. Unfortunately I threw out the box and now I have very expensive door stops. Another thing, I bought normal width and the midstep is too roomy and add to the instability because there's too much room and my feet shift.

I bought the Clifton 9 because I loved the fit of the Clifton 8. I am a 7.5 wide and was delighted when the Clifton 8, 7.5 wide fit my foot perfectly without squeezing my toes. The Clifton 9 was snug in the toe box and not long enough. I sent them back the next day.

I have the Clifton 8's and love them so much! The 9's are a lot different. They are not as comfortable. The rub a couple areas of my feet and it starts to hurt. I've worn they for 2 weeks thinking it will get better and it has not. I will be returning them!

These were gorgeous. Love the colors, the style. Just wish they fit. They were too big all the way around. Making them shorter would not have solved the side to side space issue. The toe box was fine, but the sides and heel just felt sloppy. Had to return them:(

I have been wearing the Clifton 8 for over a year and they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. They are so cushioning and my feet never hurt in them. So I was extremely disappointed when I tried on the Clifton 9 and found that the footbed was not nearly as soft as the 8's. In fact, I found it to be hard like other running shoes. Perhaps that makes for a more efficient energy transfer, but it loses the comfort and I think true value of the 8. I am returning the Clifton 9 pair and I ordered two pair of the Clifton 8s that were still on sale. Hopefully by the time they wear out, HOKA will bring back the comfort of the Clifton 8.

The shoe is very comfortable, however, the "duck tail" on the back of the shoe is odd. Please consider redesigning the back of the shoe. Thank you.

The shoes have an offensive odor. After wearing them even fir a short time my feet smell bad, this does not happen with any other shoes or my othe HOKAs. I am very dissatisfied and disappointed because they're not cheap. I'd like to return them and get my money back.

The Clifton is my favorite style and I have numerous pairs. That being said, they ruined it! What's with the tongue on the heel? Very uncomfortable and slips when walking. I'm not a fan and will not be purchasing anymore until they modify back to the greatness of the original.

Conceptually and aesthetically, I loved the shoes. But the for for the new version wasn't right and caused a weird strain in my front tendon. I thought it might go away, but instead it got worse and now bothers me with other shoes, as well. Very bummed. I loved the last version of these shoes.

This is my 7th pair of Hokas and I'm so disappointed. The Hoka 9 comes up much higher around the ankle and is so painful. I just bought another pair of Hoka 8s and am hoping they change it back when the 10s come out.

I had been advised by two Hoka customer service reps that the 9 was just like the. 8 - only a bit higher and somewhat lighter. Simply not the case for me. The nine felt wider and longer.

I was recommended to buy Hoka by my foot dr after having surgery. I loved them at first but there is too much cushion and my ankle pronates out.

My wife does not enjoy the new shoes, she feels like they don't fit her feet correctly or mold to the shape of of her foot. She has ran in them a couple times and is looking for a new brand/pair of shoes.
