I bought 2 pairs of the Hoka Clifton 8 this past year. Black and Grey. I "loved" them! The were the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. Two weeks ago I ordered the black Clifton shoes once again. What I received were the Clifton 9 shoes. They are so uncomfortable to me. I wish I could return them for the Clifton 8. What happened to the design of them? I am not able to wear them. And I love Hoka!

The Clifton 9 shoes are uncomfortable. I bought them to help with my strained Achilles Tendon. The shoes just aggravate it. Very disappointed.

Painful fit, returning. I previously wore the Mach 5 to work, where air stand for 6-8 hours full time on concrete floors. Also wore the Mach 5 to walk and moderately hike, with no issues until wearing them for a little over a year. Chose the Clifton 9 as a replacement and regretted immediately agreeing wearing at home. They hurt the top of my foot, bottom of my foot, heel, and arch. Most aggressively painful shoe I’ve ever worn. Returning immediately, and now questioning whether or not I even want to wear Hoka in the future.

I am a CNA, I work 12 hour shifts & I really wanted to love these shoes, everyone raved about them however I've only had them for a month & the bottom of one of the shoes is tore up already. I really wanted them to last and be good work shoes but they were not.

Have been wearing Clifton since version 4. New Clifton 9 has different footbed and tongue . Little toe goes numb wearing the 9. And tongue does not stay flat . I put hubby in Clifton's since version 7 and he also finds the changes disappointing. I have looked for older versions online and very difficult if not impossible to find . Will need to find a new brand which is very disappointing.

The clifton 9 is very uncomfortable. I bought them at a local retailer and have worn them several times. They hurt my feet no matter how I lace them. Stuck with a very expensive pair of shoes.

What in the world has happened to Hoka ?? I wore the Bondi for years, and this version of the Bondi is unwearable and caused extreme and lingering pain in my feet! So, I opted to try the Clifton, as I had two pair of the Clifton 6 which I loved. The foam is so hard, particularly on the right side of the shoe that I cannot even walk in this new version. The other Cliftons were extremely comfortable. I am so dismayed, and the call-center could not offer any help. It is just not Hoka, but other brands that the call-center also services, so they don't know the shoes that well. Very disappointing.

Hoka Clifton's are not only my favorite sneaker, but literally the only one I'll wear and for years now. I hate when companies 'fix' things that aren't broken. The heel is lower and the lower height pulls my socks down so much that I can't wear these. I wear wide and they usually don't carry cool colors in wide. I got so excited when I saw these, because Hoka FINALLY came out with very cool colors in the wide. I was so excited that I almost bought two pairs, so that I would have another pair lined up after I wear through these. But I can't wear them, because it's so frustrating that they pull my socks down. And I don't mean sometimes. It's constant! Infuriating. I wasted a lot of money on these. Hoka, please go back to the previous version and include the cool colors in wide! Sunlit Ocean/Lilac Mist

I have about six pair of Hokas. They fit me so well that I feel comfortable buying them online without the need to try them on. This last pair however has a narrower tow box than previous pairs and they hurt my feet. I couldn't walk by end of day.

This just wasn’t the shoe for me. The construction caused back and hip discomfort and instability, mostly due to the roller effect, a Hoka feature that will work for some but not for me . The shoe did fit as advertised. For my needs (arch support, stability, responsive cushion for daily walking) Brooks Glycerin GTS was the answer. Different shoes for different feet and body types! Appreciate Zappos excellent return/exchange process, which make it easy to find the right shoe for me. I knew the Hoka wouldn’t be my shoe after 30 minutes trying it out in the living room. Other people swear by them as walking shoes so it was worth a try, and might work for people with no history of back pain.
I'd also recommend:

If you want cushion and absolutely no stability then these shoes are fo you but they killed my legs, shins and feet just wearing them for a day at my desk job. So I was barely even on my feet.

I wore these shoes for a few hours. I'm not used to wearing tennis shoes but thought they would be good for me. These shoes pushed me back and my entire body hurt after wearing them.

I would love to give full stars, but on my very first order, which were too large, I returned and scanned everything within a day on September. 27th and never heard back from Hoka about the replacement shoes. Not even a refund. NOT what I expected from such a well known brand. Horrible practice.

I never received the product. There was an issue with delivering them due to the driver having an accident. The shoes were sent back to the company and I was asked to login and reorder them once my money was returned. I was was very disappointed with this process. It was of no fault of mine so it seems as if the company should've been willing to just mail out another pair without me having to go in and reorder them. This was not a good experience at all. It was my first and probably my last time dealing with your company.

The fit was too big, My BIG problem is that I was sent a used shoe, you could see the wear on the bottom. It was in a random box, laces had been tied by previous order, no paper wrapping. Absolutely unacceptable. Very disappointed. Already boxed up and ready for return after arriving less than a half hour ago.
