I give this shoe 3 stars because even though it's very comfortable - if the ground is wet, the water will soak through the bottom of the shoe, and one's socks and feet will become wet. I know the Clifton is not waterproof but when I did my run - the rain had stopped but the ground was still wet and I had no idea I was going to wind-up with wet feet. I'm glad my run was only 3 miles today. (and no I did not run through puddles).

I don't like the style of Clifton 9 - they look too bulky. I love Clifton 8.

I ordered the new Clifton 9 online and I had to return them as the left shoe was much more narrow than the right shoe and hurt my foot. Unfortunately, there was very limited size 8 availability on line to replace them, so it's been a little disappointing after being so excited to try them.

The Hokas feel amazing. But they fail in aesthetics. When put side to side with another running/training shoe, the look was just too clunky for me. They covered enough of my ankle to make me look "cankly." If I were only wearing with pants, I would have kept them, but since these would mainly be for summer, I returned.

I've purchased 2 pair of Clifton 8 and absolutely loved them! Total comfort from the minute I put them on. I've recommended these to all my friends and coworkers. My purchase of the Clifton 9 is not so great. I expected the fit to be the same as the 8's but they are narrower and cushioning feels different. Also hurts my little toes. Not happy.

I feel like they were on the low end for Hoka, my Dr. Wants me to wear the more supportive elevated arch with lots of cushion. Bindi, or Gaviota4 my podiatrist really likes Hoka products but I just got a shot in my foot for plantar fasciitis and wanted more arch support, I need the cushion and comfort. So I've worn mostly Gaviota. I'm sorry but the Clifton's just aren't the best for me. Thank you

Nothing dramatic. For the price and hype, you would expect a bit more. It is probably just a trend. Not that comfortable imho.

I bought these for walking and jogging. The shoes are snug along the sides. My feet are hurting when I wear them most of the day. So no, not happy

I've had at least 8 pair of the Cliffton 8. Was excited for Cliffton 9 - great pink color. Unfortunately, they are running much bigger. I'd go down at least a 1/2 size. I've not reordered yet on sizing to know if a 1/2 size ok. I did not wear them out as they were too big, so not sure how they perform. They also don't feel as cushy as the 8's.

A salesperson had me try on the Hoka one one, As I bartend and am on my feet a lot. They were awesome, unlike any sneakers I have owned. I did not like the black and white. For me the soles looked way too thick and maybe could've been half black to lessen that effect. I tried these next and they are not the same. Less cushion and my feet hurt at the end of the shift. Would like to see a few options without such bright, bold colors.

Sadly I had to return because elastic holding tongue down was not sewn in flush thus creating a bump. Hoping in my reorder I have better luck!

I was really disappointed with the fit. I didn't feel like there was any arch support at all. It also didn't feel any different from a "regular" running/walking shoe . Definitely expected more --I am returning.

Clifton 9 does not fit as well but I will say they are more comfortable than the Bondi 8. I have very skinny feet and there is too much cloth on the inside of my foot around the arch area. I wore Bondi 7 until Hoka quit offering them. I tried Bondi 8 which did not work out at all (waiting for credit so I can take one more stab at a different model). Any suggestions would be welcome!

These fit me, but aren't as comfortable for me as other Hoka shoes I've had in the past. It's not the shoes fault, it's just not my favorite shoe.

I walk everyday and needed a shoe to absorb some of the impact of walking on streets and sidewalks. After reading so many glowing reports and talking to other walkers who are fans, I had high hopes for perfection. I was less than blown away. Sure, there is a lot of cushion but the toe box is overly roomy and the shoe tongue comes up too high on the front of my ankles. Of course, I will wear them but for this price point, I was disappointed.

I normally wear the Bondis but they were out in my size in black so I tried these. I have narrow heels and am wide across the toes(like a duck lol). These fit just fine but compared to the Bondi they felt like they had absolutely no cushion. They actually felt like my old old sneakers when I was ready to toss them. Not for me. I’ll find Bondi’s someplace instead. I also thought they were kind of clunky and ugly in person.
I'd also recommend:

It seemed that it has a wider toe box. But it has not. It is wider the bunion line and then it get really narrow on toe line.

Unfortunately they are too narrow and are not offered in Wide so returning. Hoping Hoka will start offering wide selections.

Several friends recommended HOKA shoes, so I thought I would give them a try. I'm on my feet all day at work, so a comfortable shoe is really important. However, these seem to hurt the arches of my feet. I have an average arch, so I'm not sure what is causing the pain. The shoes are lightweight and have plenty of toe room.

Liked the Rocker Sole but there was a spot on the inside of the right shoe that bothered my foot. The shoes were a little wide on me and no arch support. Unfortunately I will be returning the shoes.

I bought for comfort. They are well padded I feel like I am being pushed forward in them. I need more time to figure out how I feel. Irewlly want to love them as so many do.

I've only worn these once, out for a short run. I've been wearing Cliftons for a few years but this is my first try with the new model. Cushioning was good, everything felt good, except that the tongue is much bigger than on the 8 and it rubs my ankle bone. I know we're all shaped differently and it's impossible to account for everyone's foot but the last model (with the controversial attached tongue) worked better for me. Still--I can't run in any other shoe now because the cushioning is awesome so I am actually going to buy quarter length running socks to accommodate the shoes. Inconvenient but probably worth it in the end. I do wish shoe companies in general would stop with the insane, constant "redesigns" that end up pleasing no one.
