The Clifton 9 make my feet hurt. There too narrow. Next time I'll buy the Clifton 8 since they are a lot more comfortable for me and are. better suited for my podiatric needs. They're too stiff and don't give out much which caused me to have back and foot pain

Hi! I've bought probably 6 pairs of the Clifton 8's and all of them were a size 10 wide. Love them all. I decided to try the new Clifton 9's so naturally I bought a size 10 wide. Way too big! Then a 9 1/2 wide - STILL too big! Finally settled on a 9 wide. Still love my ugly shoes!

Overall these were very comfortable, but then I started walking and it has a heel that rocks - which is exactly what would exacerbate my Achilles tendonitis. I am not sure how to explain it other than it encourages you to elongate you Achilles when you are on the heel. I would guess if I didn't have this condition - I might like this since it really make your step take off more - but for me this was a no go.

Love the color but the strap that is attached to the tongue makes the high arch very uncomfortable.

I am sold on the Cliftons and always get the new pair. Some versions are better than others. I am mainly an outdoor walker so I need them comfortable and durable which they usually are. These while comfortable ripped by the lace hole hence the 3 stars. I have only had them a month and a half.

Too narrow in the toe box and I ordered wide. I like Bondi.

It's better than other brands, but does not fit like my other Cliftons that were Clifton 7s. It feels too wide. I just have a normal, not narrow foot. I even went back to make sure I didn't accidentally order a wide. I couldn't wear no show or very low cut socks, or it rubbed my inner ankle bone, which hurt. They just feel too roomy and loose, but if I were to go down a size , they would be too short.

My 1st pair was too narrow, the wider pair felt good until I noticed it rubbed on my ankle.

I love the cushion of the shoe but the bottom rubber is too wide and when I'm walking I sometimes bang the shoe on my other shoe or on objects when I walk by them. The shoe is very very comfortable from a fit standpoint and even walking but it's just too wide on the bottom.

The Bondi 7 had the cushion AND upper width I needed. THE Bondi 8 flopped its wide width was narrow in the upper with an incongruously wide sole. The Clifton 9 is wide enough but not as comfortable walking as the Bondi 7. HOKA doesn't seem to listen to reviews. I chatted with a person and voiced my concerns, which I read are not unique. And when you do offer a women's wide, it is often available in bizarre colors only in the wide width. And again, not the cushion of the Bondi 7.

I am a review reader so wanted to give my honest opinion of these shoes. I bought some because my coworkers said how comfortable they are, which they are but just did not work well with my feet. They made my feet and back hurt after wearing them the first day. Brooks work better for mine. If it wasn't for that I would have loved them, they are very comfortable!

Wanted to love, very cushy and nice rocker. Tried 7w and 6.5w, size difference between them was huge. 7w felt/looked like big boats on feet, 6.5w was better, but the oval shape of the toe box put pressure on pinky toes. Had to return. I wish Hoka would get onboard with the more footshaped toe box thing, but keep their rocker sole and shorter heel-toe drop. That would literally be the perfect shoe for so many people. I love the shape of a certain other footshaped toe box brand, but can't wear for longer periods because they're all zero drop and aggregate my Achilles since I walk/hike and don't run. Someone really needs to make footshaped toe box walking /hiking shoes that are not zero drop and use a rocker sole. The Clifton, Speedgoat, and Anacapas would all be perfect shoes for me if the toe box was just shaped more like my actual foot! I barely make do with my Speedgoats and Anacapa breeze, but only because they're so stretchy that they don't kill my pinky toes, but they're still not perfect just close enough since there are no better options at the moment. I only recommend Hokas to people with skinnier oval shaped feet. Anyone with feet shaped like mine I steer toward a certain footshaped toe box brand as long as they can tolerate zero drop

These are super comfortable and I love them for that. But I'm having a hard time with my custom orthotics for my plantar fasciitis. I took out the insert the shoes come with and have had my orthotics in, but the heel cup is too shallow and my heels slip out and my socks slip down. I've tried tying them various ways to try to get a better lock, but it's not working. I want to keep these but might send them back because of this. I'm in an endless search for plantar fasciitis, custom orthotic-friendly sneakers.
My mom, who also has plantar fasciitis, swears by these shoes, so I know they are awesome shoes. Maybe just be aware if you are looking to put your orthotics in these.

I am a size 9 but the 9's were too big - plus for some reason the left shoe felt strange - it turned my foot inward . Sent back and ordered a different style in an 8 1/2z

I wanted to love this shoe but it was too uncomfortable for me. The tongue of the shoe dug into the top of my foot when it was laced. I had bad foot pain at the end of the day. I will be returning these. The customer service is great and I would recommend at least trying Hoka to see if they work for you since they have a great satisfaction guarantee policy.

I have 2 other pairs of Cliftons. The Clifton 9 has been horribly redesigned so that the heel cushion and arch support are not up to par with previous versions. Quite disappointing.

This shoe was not comfortable on me. The sole was very comfortable but the upper portions rubbered against my foot in a few different places making them very uncomfortable. This was true on both feet.

I love Hokas but the Clifton 9 is not as comfortable as the others. My feet actually hurt when I wear them, which is unusual.

Fit and comfort are great, however I purchased the eggnog color with the pink sole. I’ve just worn them for the first time and they look as though I’ve worn them often. The pink sole color rubbed off on the eggnog colored shoe apparently when I crossed my feet or inadvertently hit shoes together.
