SIze reviewed: 15 regular Have been trying Clifton’s since the Clifton 6. Had two pairs of Clifton 6 purchased near the end of the model year. Loved how soft the soles were. Great shoe for someone with lower back issues! Fit me perfectly in terms of length and width. Clifton 7, I missed. My 6s lasted a while, albeit the sole wear was uneven. Clifton 8 was terrible for me. The 8 sole was much harder than the 6s. Also, I didn’t like the changes to the banding that holds the tongue in place. I returned the Clifton 8s. I talked with Hoka phone support and tried all other Hoka shoes appropriate for someone with long, narrow feet… Arahis, Rincons, and others each in two sizes. Nothing worked. So, I survived on my old 6s, some old New Balance (ugh) and whatever else I had around the garage. The Clifton 9s are much better than the 8s. The sole seems softer but nowhere near as soft as the 6s. Would like it slightly softer. The width of the toe box seems slightly wider, but still okay for my narrow (2A) feet. The length seems slighly shorter than the Clifton 6. The tongue is attached in a manner than doesn’t grab the side of my foot (a welcome change). And, the styling is good (subjective, I know). I’d give the Clifton 9s all five stars if the sole were soft like the 6s. Nothing else for Hoka to “improve”. I plan to buy another pair or two before Hoka messes with them again. I wish Hoka would make each model consistent and not make huge changes…. Totally frustrating. Also frustrating that the length varies between shoe models and shoe generations. Clifton 6 was perfect lenght for me. Clifton 9 (same size) is slightly short (just enough to rub my second toe). Also, Rincon is shorter than the Cliftons. My toe always rubs a lot in the Rincons.
