Extra heavy and hard to adjust. Returned took 3 weeks to get money back. Then they did not give me my shipping money back.

I returned the boots. They were heavier than I expected and too difficult to get on and off easily due to the lacing system. I typically take boots off when I go inside so there are many on and offs in the course of a day.

First off, I had an original pair of the North Face Chilkat which I purchased in 2002, I loved them and wore them unitl they finally wore out last year. I live in Idaho and we have real winters here. Wore them almost everyday for many different uses including snow shoeing, hiking, Shoveling snow, and just wearing around in the cold. I have only worn the new boots a few times so my impressions may be a little biased. The Chilkat V does not feel like as quality of a boot. It is lighter, the soul not as stiff and the ankle height of the boot is a little too high for my liking. For a boot this high I would prefer that the lace up system be a little more adjustable by having hooks instead of eyelets from the ankle up. This would allow for a more custom fit. This is not a bad boot, it is comfortable and seems like it will be fine in the snow and works well for hiking. I just like the old style boot better. That said I don't know of a boot out there at a comparable price that does everything this boot will do, so if it meets your needs go ahead and buy it I would rate it 3 1/ 2 stars.

Rubber ages poorly and becomes brittle. Not the quality I was hoping for. Would not recommend. When a handful of times a year for about 4 years, stored out of sunlight

Dont walk a LOT in winter. Drive a car. This is my 3rd pair over many years. Last pair went 8 years, easily, before I retired them. This pair is suddenly done.

The boots I received have obviously been worn multiple times. They were creased and caked with mud on the bottom. There were literally rocks stuck in the tread. Other than that, they seem like good boots; I'm just annoyed that I paid full price for boots someone else has been stomping around in.

This boot has no tread depth. To be able to obtain traction on slush and snow, you need tread depth. This boot doesn't have it. What a shame. Why would they make a boot with no tread depth.

They run small and narrow. I wear an 11w in hiking and 11 in snow boots for decades. I got my foot into the an 11 wearing summer weight wool blend socks-tight and short. 11 1/12 just as tight and uncomfortable. If you have a narrow foot order up in size. The description should include "do not buy if you're wearing a wide in hiking boots". Waste of time

Lovely looking boot, and fairly priced. I love TNF but... I had to return it - the fit is too tight (and I ordered a half size bigger than normal - and my feet are actually narrow). Pity. Seems this is a very common complaint. TNF were good about the refund, so I remain loyal but I bought boots from a competitor.

I had these boots for 2 seasons. I wore them no more than 20 times. Both left and right boots came apart at the seams while walking. A total disappointment after spending so much for them.

I've had these probably 10b years but wore less than 10 times. They feell apart at the seems despite looking brand new. They were babied compared to 28 year old army goretex boots that are still intact

I won't be buying any TNF products for the foreseeable future. My chillkat boots fell apart catastrophically after a handful of uses. They are practically new, but the entire rubber toe part opened up. Clearly this is a manufacturing or material defect. You can see how the rubber is splitting. Additionally, don't trust the warranty. The webpage tells you there's a "limited lifetime guarantee", but don't fall for that. If you click through to the fine print, the "lifetime" for their boots is apparently only a year. If you buy things to last, I wouldn't buy any TNF footware that they won't stand behind.

I had a slip on version of this boot and used them for a few years just when shoveling and plowing my driveway. All was good until today when the rubber bottom cracked all across the top of the tow and down the sides.

Poor quality yet not cheap. This is 2nd pair that fell apart sole pulled off & cracks around edges. They were hardly worn & stored properly in box in closet till needed for winter. Northface needs to stand behind poor quality issues.

Very warm boot. Not waterproof!! My toes were wet on each of 3 times wearing them. Toes only, nothing else. No snow entered the boot. Returning for refund. No exchange.

I just had a pretty dangerous fall with these boots on. The laces from one boot got caught in the hooks of the other boot. It literally felt like I got lassoed by a cowboy in a rodeo. I was completely immobilized. Someone could get seriously hurt from these boots. I have no choice but to put in a complaint. If you look at how the lacing mechanism works, and the position of the hooks, you'll see that its dangerous for the types where your ankles ever brush up against each other while walking. And I think that's everybody. I hate to say negative things about this because I love the brand and I love their products. These boots are very high quality aside from what I said above, but that still needed to be said.

I've had my Chilkats for about 7 years and use for a number of purposes (hiking, shoveling, ice-fishing). They were great to start with but now have issues. The rubber has cracks and has now become completely separated from the upper leather portion. They are unusable and I have to buy new ones.

I specifically bought this boot because of the cold rating it received. I wore them to my kids hockey game and it felt like there wasnt any difference between these boots and my sneakers when it came to keeping my feet warm. Dont buy.

This boot was only used less than 10 times over a few years, but the synthetic rubber tore while driving. This isn't meant for longevity in case that's your purpose. It's a shame as the boot pretty much looks new and was really warm and comfortable.

Ordered a full size up from my shoe size. These boots are so far from fitting I’d need to go up three or four sizes to get a fit with a sock. Very disappointed and once again have to deal with a return because the manufacturer is providing incorrect data.

These boot literally disintegrated after not much wear. I called customer service and was told there's only a 1 year warranty on boots because the glue they use doesn't hold up to storage! Unreal!
