I generally like Asics, but these ran a little smaller than the others I have purchased. My toes feel a little squished and I don't like wearing them for long walks which is the reason I get these.

I bought these to replace my Gel Contend 5, which were really comfortable and cushioned. These are not as cushioned and I am disappointed. They have the same styling, but it’s not the same comfort.

I had ordered this shoe before & liked it, but this pair felt short in the toe so had to return.

After a few weeks of wearing these sneakers, they unfortunately have proven to have no arch support. My feet hurt if I walk for an extended amount of time which I am accustomed to do every day.

I have been purchasing ASICS shoes for many years. This GEL Contend 8 is far inferior in quality. My daughter's shoes wore out in less than a few months in the toe area. The shoe insole is worthless and offers no support at all.

These shoes have that desired cloud feeling and are true to width but could fit a wide foot as well. The arch support was narrow, putting the "support" more under the foot than in the arch, which immediately made my feet ache during the trial walk in my apartment and it was physically uncomfortable. I purchased the same shoe ina different color at the same time and this didn't happen with the other shoe. My big toes also pressed into the top of the shoe, so half size up might be necessary.

Asics GEL-Contend 8 felt wide and lacked support. My feet are narrow, but these shoes were extra wide for a B width.

Not a lot of support or cushioning

I have flat feet and this shoe was just not for me but I'm sure would be good for someone who has "normal' feet

Toe box area is too narrow.

Hard to slip into; not enough opening of shoe to get foot into shoe.

Fit was a bit too small for me with my toes hitting the front of shoe.

I've order online the same shoe from another maker for 20 years. they have stopped making it. I am finding out that many reviews are correct. Womens sneakers are shorter and narrow. 11 medium fit for 20 years. i like this shoe, its just short. I did not need wide in the past, but i sure do now. the pair i ordered was wide and felt good, just to short. and they are out of 11.5 size in colors i like. sorry zappos, i need to return. zappos service is good.

I have this same shoe in size 9 average and wanted to try it in size 9 wide because the average rubbed the side of my my big toe. The 9W was no different than the 9A. I compared both side by side in several ways including using a measuring tape. There was absolutely no difference in the two sizes.

Shoe fit came very high on top. used discomfort on fit there.

Have been buying Asics Gel Contend shoes for several years now. They're exactly what I need for standing and walking all day at work and they don't break the budget like many shoes do today. I usually buy them at Kohls where I can try them on, as, in typical Asics form, one shoe can sometimes be oddly sized compared to its mate -- often too narrow in the toe box. At a bricks-and-mortar store one can just look for another pair in one's size and they them and hit a pair that is correctly made. This anomaly is not the fault of Zappos by any means. It's that of Asics, which really needs to QC their products in their less expensive lines or inspect their wide shoe lasts.
