I had really high hopes these would be the replacement for Altra. Wide toe box, check. Zero drop, check. Enough stack height where your feet will feel good after 15+ miles, check. Reputation for durability, check.
But, there are a couple of items that need correcting. If you have wide feet, the mid foot is way too narrow. Not made for 2E foot width. Sole under the heel also needs to be wider. It feels like the base needs more stability and could make rolling an ankle more likely.

I have been running in Altra for the last decade but it is time to find a new home for my feet. Topo could just be my feets' forever home. I gave 3 stars, but they can make just a couple tweaks to make is solid 5 stars. The mid foot needs to be about 1/8 to 1/4 inch wider, and heel was a little "slippy". Other than that, fantastic traction, good cushion, I'm not a light runner. I look forward to logging more miles and a more complete shoe break in. Hopefully a slightly wider shoe next time.??!!

I’ve bought Topo before and have been very please with the product. I wear orthotics that require me to remove the insole. First off someone with VERY dirty feet had tried the shoes on before me. I didn’t notice until after I tried them on. At least I had my own orthotic insole in at the time. Second, even with my insoles the shoes are not for people who over pronate.

A comfortable, stable, easy-to-use shoe that fits and performs right out of the box, but for either running or walking, they start to split along the fold of the step in the uppers before anything else even starts to wear out. A "trail" shoe that isn't tough enough to use without it falling apart is not worth the money.

These shoes fit my wide forefoot well. The problem I have is that the mid foot volume is too small. There is too much pressure on the top of my foot. Also, I really don't like the maxed out cushioning..

Both too tight and too loose?! This becomes "interesting" on trails, makes me not quite trust the footing. The gaiters also just come off on the front. I suspect on steep grades (800-1000 ft/mile) the Velcro overlap makes the front very stiff, so that if the toe of the shoe is pointed up, the front hook comes undone as the front overlap cannot flex. The work around is to run the front hook under the second row of laces before connecting the gaiter hook to the shoe ring. Good traction though.

I always loved the minimalist feel to the Topo line and I've waited for a trail runner with some more cushion because as I get older I want more protection from the rough trails in New England. This is not it. Sadly. I was optimistic but this just feels like my foot is being smothered and it doesn't breathe like a Topo The Vibram tread it great though you can't go wrong with Vibram.

I have but on maybe 100 miles on the shoes, and the heels are already worn through and all the filler is coming out. I was hoping these shoes would be more durable, but they just are not. Will not be looking at any more Topo products sorry to say. With some big tough races coming up, was hoping for a solid showing, but these cannot even last the most basic training runs.

I usually love my Topo sneakers but these gave me horrible blisters. I had broken them in the. Took them on a longer hike 3 miles in covered in blisters. Total dud
